i drove an aniversary model while i searched a mx5 for my own... sadly it was destroyed by an idiot.. roof leeked, smell all around, gearbox and suspension down... puls left at breaking , stearing had bad play... and that´s at a mazda dealer.. that was the only mx-5 i saw that was raced to death.. now i own a propper one, just fun! :D greets to all owners!

IMHO the NB mx5 cant be beat for its price nowadays. i took into consideration the del sol being a honda guy but for the money, looks, and decent aftermarket support it doesnt really have much competition.

ill have my s2000 in the future but 4now looks like an NB on coilovers should do it

ummm depends man, too many factors come into play, and not really knowing there weight, wat car there in, wat there gonna be used for...i cant just say this1 or that 1. torque is good tho lol all i know is that the mr2 shouldve came with the 2zz, not just the elise and the GTS. high revving fun but low on the torque, wich isnt bad..just saying. my 2cents

Top gear seems to never have reviewed the honda del sol. The mx5 doesn't have enough space for luggag.

Honda del sol...lol. If anyone has bought a del sol over a mx5 they have bought the wrong car. The mx5 is so much better then the del sol that boot space is really not a consideration. Always feel sorry for del sol owners when I see one driving my mx5

I have a del sol. I have never driven an mx5. I got a del sol because it came reccomended. They are good cars. I see mx5's everywhere. I would love to test drive an mx5

Yeah, the del sol is a good car. Well made, not bad looking, i happen to love honda civics also. I make a bet with you...try driving a mx5 quickly for 5 min without smiling on a twisty road, you'll be converted after the first fast corner haha

Its a long story about how I ended up with a del sol. I used to work at a garage and I was going to buy a toyota starlet, because thats the car I learnt to drive in, but everyone said it was a nana's car. My friend who drove a Mercedes SLK said I should get a del sol.. So then I went to see one and got obsessive compulsive about them and ended up buying one. My only advice is don't buy a red one. That red paint fades, and get a manual SI model. I got a red auto vxi model :( Still love it tho

Yeah red paint is always a pain on any car. If your energetic enough to polish them every 3 months then they look great. I bought a silver mx5, the most easy colour to look after. Also the girls in my group of friends all said the same thing...buy any colour mx5 except for red..because red mx5's are for the girls haha

Yeah too bad I've allready got a red one :) I never thought about colour when I bought it.. Its served me well so far.. My paintwork was in great shape when I got it 3 years ago. Still is in good shape for its age, but on the roof and back it needs a respray. I waxed it every 6 months thats obviously not enough. I would lose too much money on it selling it and getting a silver SI with low k's. Plus half of them here seem to have that horrible trans top system that I don't want a bar of.

Ahh sorry I thought you had another colour. Yeah Id just keep your current one. Trade it in for a honda S2000 or MX5 later. I wouldn't bother with SLK's or Z3/4's unless youve got money to burn. My last car was an older merc c-class, had many annoying small problems and servicing was hugely expensive. I feel much happier in my simple MX5, it puts a smile on my face and never ever has any problems, i like that its not a 'show off' car but still looks classic.

Well I paid about 3000 USD for it back in 07, and spent about 1100 USD on things like a new battery new master cylinder, getting new brake calipers and brake pads and a new ipod head unit. I think its not bad value. Jap imports are cheap in this country.

As hard as I try to get mine sealed tight, it'll still leak through a typical shower, lol.

The del sol is not a sports car, its a "sporty" car. Its actually really a civic but its not meant to be a high performance model its a cheap reliable convertible. Anyway top gear have reviewed many cars including lada's and a pink convertible nissan march. I like the mx5 but just not enough space in the boot.

Go drive a Miata. then you won,t care about luggage space. You know there is custom luggage available for the Miata that ulilizes the space to maximum advantage.

I will try and get the courage to ask for a test drive at a dealership to see what the mx5 is like to drive. I will stick with my sol for now hard times and fading red paint aren't good for its value and it gets me from a to b :)

I had one for my first car and I live in a very crowded, busy area of California. The car is great for getting in and out of tight situations and is VERY RELIABLE. Mine had an aftermarket blower and still never needed repairs. It is definitely a great car, the only downside is that no other car will ever compare!
