WOW if only hollywood or Jon Stewart would praise GOD as much as Bruce - we would be a better world - but dont put your trust in man - put it onto GOD for this world is temporary and GOD said we can have but only one person to worship and no others -GOD -
so dont reply back if this upsets you - its just a fact and written three thousand years ago and still factual today - man thinks he is smarter than GOD - now there is the real Joke -
@CoolerKing37 Bruce wrote it. It took about six months for him and the band to finish it on the album. Steven laughed about it and said: "Making a song would not take more than three hours to make..."
Jon - Once again you nail it. Bruce empties the tank. Seen him do it so many times - his music has saved my life many times - and I'm gonna need his voice and courage again. AND - it's really about just him and his wonderful gift. Bless You Bruce.
@jellybeengood You clearly aren't right about the first part, however the second part is right. He's better than Bob Dylan. Also, being the third-highest grossing music artist ever, I think that he can be the boss of whoever he wants
What a great tribute. My colleagues in the legal profession have had entire symposiums on the works of Bruce Springsteen. You may wonder what the Boss would have to do with lawyers, but a lot of them are not only inspired by his works, but see the impact of his lyrics in our zealous advocacy for our clients. It is amazing how one artist can profoundly touch peoples lives. What living artist can claim this???

@ChrisDutch How old is your son Chris? That is very cool he is a Springsteen fan. I first heard Bruce when i was 13. I saw him do The Rising at the MTV Video Music Awards and I thought he was amazing!!!
@RealTime88 He'll be sixteen next month. I took him to see Bruce back in 2008 for the Magic tour at Giants Stadium. I'll never forget his expression when Bruce wrapped up his set with Badlands. The band left the stage and everyone was standing. They knew the encores were coming but Kyle didn't. The crowd started to sing the "OH.OH,OH,OH," following the Badlands melody. Kyle suddenly brightened up and started singing along. He had an awesome time. We're still in mourning over the Big Man.
@ChrisDutch So am I. Clarence and my father both died earlier this summer. I should point out to you Chris that Magic is my favorite album of Bruce's. I really went nuts over the song on Magic called "Long Walk Home" I have to think that song is about Bruce's hometown. His music in recent years has been the best he has done since Born In The USA. I think Bruce is a better musician and songwriter. I think the last 10 years in America has given him a lot to write. Kyle is a lucky young man!
@RealTime88 Sorry for not getting back to you earlier. My deepest sympathies to you about your dad; I lost my younger sister earlier this year. I had often teased her in a brotherly way about getting to see Bruce for many years but finally I took her to the Garden about ten years ago and we saw a really awesome show. We can keep it together with ther spirit and love that Bruce shows and the music will take us through.
I'm currently working on my Ph D. in Experimental Psychology and I would not be here without the music of Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan. When I write my dissertation, they're going in the Acknowledgments section
A beautiful and moving tribute to the poet of our generation. I love "I'm in a lifelong journey with my audience..." Bruce, we are with you every step of the way. Your music gives us hope for a better day and without that hope, we are nothing.
idk ... the last half of this gets real sappy. I like Bruce ... he can really kick ass on stage ... I just ... I just ... I just think that's the only thing he should do. Save the Holywood crap for the Hollywoodies. They're always giving out awards to each other. Don't the rest of us count?

@phxkayote I don't give a fuck about "the Kennedy Center award." You do. I like Bruce's music. Whether or not he gets some award is immaterial. And everything else I wrote in my comment stands. There are gobs of Hollywood grups in this audience. It's a schmooze-fest. Don't fucking tell me; I know these creeps. Half of them are so fucking untalented it's motherfucking incredulous. One of the freshest breaths of air the past 5 years was Jonh Lydon telling the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame "Fuck off."
That was fantastic. I love Jon Stewart, and he was awesome here.
And what he says about Springsteens music is so true. Hell, I live on the other side of the world in New Zealand...never been to the US and never seen Springsteen live. But what he sings about is kind of a universal thing. Everyone can relate.
I don't need the bible...I can find more truth and honesty in the works of Bruce Springsteen or Bob Dylan.
I never say this but THAT was awesome. Jon Stewart is great. i did a lot of sales calls drivin' round New Jersey. Believe me, if anybody deserve a guy like Bruce it is the people of New Jersey. Tough state. It doesn't all look like Alpine, Upper Montclair and Princeton. BTW, Jack Black's wife is hot. She is Charlie Haden's daughter. Charlie is one of the greatest jazz bassists in history.
I've been watching the Kennedy Center Honors for years and this ranks as my favorite tribute of all -- hilariously funny, deeply moving, filled with insight and poetic turns of phrase, all thanks to Jon Stewart - and the masterful work of Bruce Springsteen. All that and superb video quality to boot!
It's great to watch someone who can be both funny and sincere. It's a rare combination and somehow he always manages to do it. That's why I watch the Daily SHow every day.
He's funny here, but if you really pay attention to what he's saying, this is very moving.
That's why I will always love him. A lot of young singer might learn from him. When we hear about him, it's for his music, his songs, and his projects. Never from drugs, bad behaviours, misconduct. He is about respect. You don't call him the Boss for nothing.
I love that it does not matter even at a shindig like the KCH you can still hear bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce, love it. oh gotta ask nemesis1365 why is it so hard to believe that President Obama EVER listened to a Bruce Springsteen album
"Inter-racial same-sex relationship being what they were." I fell on the floor laughing at the time (really), and was delighted to find this again here.
I believe James Brown & Bob Dylan had a baby...".
Well...I am from NJ... in fact I work in a factory in Bruce's hometown of Freehold, I went to catholic school, i cruised the circuit...Holy Shit, I'm a character in his songs !
I'm not from NJ, but I'm proud to be one of those charachters in his epic poems about losers. When he told me that we were Born to Run, I hopped on board and have been riding with him ever since. We've travelled many miles, took many detours and rebuilt the engine once or twice, but his words remained true and his music provided joy to the soundtrack of my life. And now that we find ourselves half way to heaven and just a mile out of hell, I'm still on board. 'Cause baby we were born to run.
From 5:59 to 6:07 is Badlands. From 4:59 to 5:07 is She's the One off Live at Hammersmith Odean 1975 (London). It's a DVD included in the boxed set for the 30th anniversary edition of Born to Run, and man it just RIPS the whole way through.
Jon Stewart's tribute presentation was hilarious and such a great ending-Bruce said "I'm in the middle of a long conversation with my audience. It will be a long journey for both of us by the time we're done." Keep on going strong Bruce, we love you. The fans from New Jersey especially are so proud of you. I'm glad he received this honor.
Great video post. I am not sure about all of the banter below though. The words of hate are not necessary. The Boss would not approve.

"Inter-racial same-sex relationship being what they were." I fell on the floor laughing at the time (really), and was delighted to find this again here.

I believe James Brown & Bob Dylan had a baby...".

Well...I am from NJ... in fact I work in a factory in Bruce's hometown of Freehold, I went to catholic school, i cruised the circuit...Holy Shit, I'm a character in his songs !
gg718707753 2 years ago 6
