God, you people make yourselves look more stupid with every stunt you all pull.
This is a growing problem. OVEC and other anti-coal group leaders recruit idiots to do their protesting for them. These poor fools, end up with criminal records for trespassing and will probably be unable to find decent employment in the future. Don't get me wrong, doing something for the environment is great. However, groups like Ovec and CRMW call themselves environmental groups, they are not; they are anti-coal groups who sucker these fools in to do their dirty work under false pretense.
I've seen it time and time again. I live here, work as an environmental consultant and keep up with this subject. You can't deny more young college students get arrested than leaders of the enviro groups. You also can not deny that there is more fecal (poop) bacteria coming out of the Guyandotte watershed than coal pollutants. Yet your enviro group cares nothing for poop contaminated water. I know what i am talking about. Do they? Do You? Or were you just told something was bad and believed it?
I don't think I've laughed that hard in years. What a great video. I can't decide which is funnier, the fat cop tripping over people and losing his hat or the dumb ass redneck off camera yelling about dragging people out "by the hair of the head." I can just picture him on the capital lawn, drunk, with his favorite NASCAR driver shirt on.
Can't we educate better in this state? These people in Wyoming Co are just pitiful. What's worse is, they're actually proud of the way they are.
So kids getting sick all the time is safe? Not being able to drink the water at the school is safe? Having toxic coal sludge and a coal silo right next to the school is safe? Let me guess coal dust all over the walls must be real safe for little kids? You have no idea what you are talking about and I doubt you are a miner (probably some higher up that rarely visits the mine and probably never has to deal with coal soot and black lung)
Who in do you think owns that office. It is NOT the elected officials. It is the citizens of this state. ME and the people who vote and pay taxes in the state of WV. That is our office!!! To not come out an acknowledge these people and try to do all that is within his power to help as an elected official is truly an act of shame and cowardice. Joe Manchin is a coward and a coal whore. A pawn in the coal baron's pocket. Sucker of Satan's d*ck! A friggin' snake in the grass. All hail Don's b*tch!
thiis is rediculous when the poloice tell you to do something have respect for them they are not the determining factor of whether it happens or not the have a job to do if you cause a problem which you did you will be delt with none of this would have happened if you would have complied
None of this would have happened if they would have helped build a new school in the number of years that led up to this event.None of this would have happened if the school wasn't sitting at the foot of 2.8 billion gallons of toxic sludge. None of this would have happened if we had a government that wasn't indebted to the coal industry. None of this would have happened if people like you would quit turning a blind eye to the obvious endangerment of hundreds of children.
None of this would have happened if people didn't care more about their paychecks than poisoning their neighbor. None of this would have happened if the DEP were allowed to enforce state law without worrying about THEIR JOBS because of corporate political corruption. None of this would have happened if West Virginia would have never whored itself out to the coal industry. This wouldnt have happened if Don Blankenship wouldn't have done everything in his power to strip the union of its power.
No actually it is ridiculous when mountains are being destroyed and peoples lives are being ruined especially those of children at a school. No child should have to be in a school with inches of coal soot on the walls and bags covering water faucets because the water is too toxic to drink. Coal company bosses should be arrested and locked up, most especially Don Blankenship of Massey Energy, for violating health and safety laws and clean water permits thousands of times
Not only that but most miners aren't unionized or can't unionize because they are trying to prevent another Blair Mountain. They want to use up and mistreat the miners till they die and make sure they don't organize and get a better life for themselves and they also are bringing in miners from other countries to work there rather than local folks. The Gov. of WV and the heads of the coal companies all share a bed too make sure that the land and the people are exploited for as long as possible!
Yes I work at a prep plant they dont want us to have a life just keep working. The money is good but I dont have a life and Im sick of the treatment we get from the higher ups.
Then form a union or join a union, though not a corporate union. Start fighting back...just look back at history to Blair Mountain and Harlan County. The whole idea is too fight back, we are all getting screwed and if we all unite we can win. We can stop MTR and stop bad labor practices and build back up a strong union movement in america and maybe build up for nationwide solidarity strikes and build a better life for all workers and peoples living here!
"River Rat" just don't understand that there is law in WV and if you break the law you will pay. They done wrong and what do they expect. That coal mines supports 99% of the families that live in that area. And why they are protesting i have no idea because when they building the new elementary school in the adjacent town about 45 mins away their kids will be bussed there and then are they going to protest the dangerous road their children will have to ride on.
The companies, like Massey, who rape the mountains of WV and other states pit the coalminers and their families against the protesters, who have no other way to express their sorrow at the devastation the companies cause. Do miners really believe that these companies care about them? Or the children of Marsh Fork Elementary? "It's safe" How do you know? God controls things-you can't predict the future. Buffalo Creek residents believed what they were told, too. Like good little sheep.
Yep, dangerous roads, long bus rides, mining operation and silo beside a school. You are right. I say protest all of those injustices. Kids should not be bused almost 2 hours a day to get to school and back. There are already kids from southern WV that ride the buses for 3 hours or more a day. Anyone who thinks that is ok obviously doesn't have a child in that situation. If they did they might feel a little differently about it.
yes thats allways smart there the one who come to our house when our houses have been robbed. yes figh the police its not like they protect us or any thing
yeah, this is real bad. i actually used to go to that school.sludge is NOT the only problem now. they just finished putting a coal silo right behind the school. if something were to happen, and it would fall, may God have mercy on whoever lies in its path. other concerns are rising, such as coal dust going on and into the school. If you were to go to that school right now, you could take your finger and rub any window sill you wanted and it would be solid black... coal dust.
While trooper0096 maybe correct that it was a safety issue and they were blocking flow of traffic. Its sad to say but it may be the only way to get national attention. If the sludge was to overflow in Marsh Fork they have less than 6 minutes to fully evacuate the school or else they will all die. Thats just from the flood water not the carcinogens that are present in that water. I still sit back and wonder why so many people are "friends" of coal.
again another group of misled people of all ages who believe they can disrupt and interfere in the issues of safety..i agree with trooperoo96..I also have dealt with such disregard and I will also state that most I have been involved with ended with arrest and removal..they shout down anyone who disagrees with them and then whine and cry when they are aressted!..it is funny!...the idiots!
Ahh, a reminder why I *HATE* ALL police officers. The protesters were peaceful, and were CLEARLY ASSAULTED, AND TORTURED BY THOSE PIGS. Those PIGS need to be held accountable in a court of law for their criminal behavior.
Why is it that LIBERALS always have to use the F-WORD when they lose an angrument? And they lose alot of arguments. But they think "Hey! I just used the F-WORD, so that means I really won the argument!" Right?
"As long as you obey you wont get hurt" I'm sure thats what the Germans thought in 1939, tell me where the limit of obedience is. If they had rebelled, Hitler(govt.) wouldnt be the first to go it would be his SS(police). Look at other examples where people are more civil than these and get the same if not worse treatment. Freedom of speech is virtually universal and includes assembly.
All you are validating is that the the rise of a police state would be a good thing and that people shouldnt have the right of freedom of speech. Americans are self absorbed, look at myspace and you tube. Asking for badge numbers is a right, they have a right to know who is abusing them, the people have a right to voice their opinion. And when the time comes ,a right to discard the oppressive government that wishes to silence them. Read the constitution and Declaration of Independence
However, since everyone wants to make the coal industry the issue instead of the school. It was "PIGS" before. Lets talk about that a minute. Thought we should post another video with that as a topic so not to take away from the students. If you think coal minors are poor now try taking all their jobs away and leave them with no income.
I never said that any coal mining community was rich or poor. The issue is the school. So, I brought up a historical fact. One that no one else was aware of or they would have mentioned it. Several students in Whales, by the way that's part of Great Britain, were killed when that coal buried their school. "HE who forgets the past is doomed to repeat it." Maybe we should bring back history classes.
Disappointed to see the girl whining "It hurts it hurts!!" and then walking instead of having dignity and sticking to her guns and the apparent plan of passive resistance--that kind of whiny crap makes activists look bad. In contrast, the ones who allowed themselves to be dragged over curbs and down the street without complaint (or even smiling) in the name of passive civil disobedience have a lot of guts. They made those cops work pretty danged hard to arrest them. As they should.
Hey! Your not going to tell me I got the last comment on this video are you? Look, kick the silo out of town then the protesters. Besides they need to save something for the Republican convention next year! Right! And right now they're making a darn good cause look bad. Spoiled children have to be drug out to a car when they don't get what they want, NOT ADULTS!
On the issue of the school, it seems that I remember an incident in Whales in the 30's when a mountain of coal slid into a school and buried it. i know this coal is supposed to be contained in a silo, but it might be worth looking up.
Also my family was in the Appalachian area as far back as 1771. I think you should stand by the people of that community. Just don't let the issue get confused with other issues. Once again I'm soory if I offended anyone. I'm trying to get people to see both sides.
I want people to be able to take their children to the moutains as well. taking off the top of a moutain isn't the only way to mine I'm sure, just the cheapest. Go at that angle. Go at that angle and leave words like, "PIGS" ,and other similar words, out of it. The use of childish remarks like that demeans your friends and their cause. The other side has a lot to learn in that area as well. Sorry If I offended anyone but I used no language or insults. Just tough questions.
The thing is this if I have to obey the law, and I do, so does everyone else including protesters. If I'm asked to leave and don't I go to Jail, If I don't walk out I get carried. If someone runs up behind the police carring me, and they yell and refuse to get back they go to jail to! End of Issue. Now talk about the school and why a Moutain top protection protest group was even there taking away attention from the school issue and refocusing it on themselves and their dislike for "PIGS."
When I read the comments from the protesters, not just in this video but many protest posted on you tube, i don't see mention of the issue. I just see comments like "F*** the PIGS PROTEST,PROTEST,PROTEST" Protest about what? What's your issue? Pigs or Moutains? Also it didn't start out as a school did it? I thought it was the moutains. Then it became the coal mines. That's how people in W.V. make their living.
I also have to agree with you about the moutains.I'm opposed to scenery being leveled as well as historic buildings be torn down. However, I think I can oppose this without becoming involved with Leftwing or Rightwing, yes they come from both ends of the political spectrum, extremist.
I read all the comments on this video. From your own comments you and most of these protesters are not from this community. you're members of an enviromental group that is opposed to leveling mountain tops in coal mining operations.
She was hurt because she refused to stand unlike the rest of the protesters who were escorted out later in the video. Idk the background to this but its makes no sense to complain about being hurt when u have the ability to avoid said injury by standing up.
You know I fear that nobody involved in this except some of the old people on the video, who are probably residents, really care about the kids. You're right the GOVT. looks out for big money first. (We can change that by voting and filing petitions in the manner that the constitution provides.) However, most of those protesters don't look like parents or grandparents. They look like members of campus anarchist groups who only want to attack the Govt. no matter what.
Still I must agree with you about the school. which I thought was your true issue. It seems that everyone one is happy to make it a COP issue. If so Just take the video to COURT. The judge might want to know, like I do, why the camera was turned off right after the Capt. spoke then turned back on when everyone started obstructing the officers and refusing to leave. Was that planned? Did your friends stage some parts?
How many times did they ask you to back away? Were you arrested? You can take pictures without getting that close. You don't need to ask for name and badge numbers. Everyone is on film right, plus all the officers patrol units appear to be parked outside. Highschool kids know that the units are all numbered and assigned to individual officers. Also by policy every officer there must file a report which is public record and you can get the name that way as well.
Well you were there and I was not. I can't see what you are talking about on the video. I do admit that their are people that shouldn't be cops. However, how do you remove an elderly person from a building when they won't walk? you say carring them is manhandling them. Why didn't you ask them to walk out? wouldn't they have listen to you? Also, when officers are making an arrest they have the right to ask people to BACK AWAY and not doing so is an arrestable offense in any state.
I agree that everyone has strayed from the purpose. And I agree with you about the school. And I bet that most of the police officers agree with you too. Most officers are family men/women. As well as registerd voters. They were just doing there job, removing people who had been legally required to leave. Don't forget the old saying you can catch more flys with honey than vinegar.
I'm not from W.V. However, I am a police officer. Most people seem to think that when we tell someone to leave a place that when they refuse we have some other recourse other than arrest. We don't. I wish we did. And when they won't cooperate and walk out to the patrol unit we must carry them out. We can't "Beam them out." Wish we could. Most sit in protesters are out of area professionals.
I am very proud of the West Virginia State Police, Charleston Police and the WV State Capitol Police for their actions. They did their job very well and all of the people saying stuff to them, well that just shows how much of an education you have. Did youeven attend elementary school? If so you are not showing it. I was always taught not to come between an officer and an arrest. I guess some people just didnt get that high quality education.
They gave you ample chance to leave peacebly. It didn't much look like they were trying to disperse, whether it was 5 seconds or 5 minutes. Pigs on a stick my ass, the older folks in the video seemed to walk out willingly (albeit in handcuffs). If you got maced or were dragged you did it willingly. I don't remember seeing too many parents from the area complaining, even the principal of the school himself has mentioned that its the business of the locals and no one elses.
The coal silo isn't a problem. If its in the silo then its contained. Growing up in Charleston we had massive open piles around the area and no one ever had any problems with those. Illegal my ass. If you want to bitch about the situation, perhaps you do it on a local level? Then again maybe that would be because the locals don't have as much of a problem with it. How would you feel if I decided what was acceptable for your home community in Georgia?
The people arrested were from Huntington, Barboursville, Morgantown, Charleston, and... Philadelphia. I'm not completely sure, but I don't think there is anyplace in WV named Philadelphia.
These people would get an ass whipping in most of southern WV for spouting off their crap.
The majority of the parents sending their kids to the school don't think that the school should be moved.
This is anti-coal and anti Massey pure and simple.
Sounds like they could have dislocated people's shoulders by carrying them out with their arms behind their backs like that. Anyone that says that peaceful protesters are cowards is lying. Many protesters get hurt in the process.
I'm not against building the kids a new school. What are a bunch of college students from the opposite end of the state doing in Charleston (my hometown, currently I live in Morgantown) protesting something that has no effect on their own lives? They don't care at all for the people of Marsh Fork. They're there because its Massey.
I think you're lying. Those voices complaining at the cops don't have southernwestern WV accents. Nice try though. The older folks I can see as being part of that community, but the younger ones don't fit the profile....period. The people around there don't dress like that, or don't sound like they do. All this over a coal silo.
what aggressive tactics??? they picked the people up and carried them out in quite a calm manner. aggressive tactics would be riot police forcing every one out of the foyer by beating them with batons. i still wouldn't even consider that to be brutality since the people were instructed to leave.
The kids being pulled out aren't from WV, especially not the Marsh Fork area. From what I can see they're activists that like to go around thumping their chests and patting each other on the back for the good job they do. Those assholes that got maced don't care about Marsh Fork or WV. There are effective ways to go about making change, being some selfrighteous douche bag who makes a hobby out of protesting things that they know nothing about isn't one of them.
One of the main functions of a protest IS to get arrested. Arrests bring press, the main point of protesting is to draw attention to concerns that are otherwise ignored by the mainstream press. If you believe that the anti-mountaintop removal groups have not tried every possible legal form of litigation, your are seriously misinformed. Your are talking about the most politically powerful, well financed corporations on the planet. Yeah - just sign a petition, that'll stop em!
Is that why the protestors were protesting Massey Energy? Because Massey Energy is for the state. Don Blankenship, Massey CEO and Gov. Joe Manchin (State) can't stand each other. Don Blankenship spent millions of his own money to defeat Manchin in the election. Yet, you claim the cops are protecting the state while arresting those stupid hippies protesting Massey Energy. Your an idiot. Who pays the taxes that pay for the schools? Not the hippies.
i'm interested in who in the world would support mountaintop removal besides those directly making money off of it. there is no good side to it. it destroys the earth, destroys mountain cultures, and destroys the health of poor folks nearby.
Of course it hurts. Just like everyone in jail is innocent. I thought the cops acted appropriately, noone got clubbed, shot, in fact the protester in pain probably got what she deserved for disrupting the peace and whatever else, and then resisting arrest and not cooperating with a state official.
War, Uh, good God y'all, what is it good for? Kicking the crap out of people who mostly deserve it.
wow, i didn't know liberals came in the redneck variety... "we'll hurt you!" i don't think one can be considered conservative because they have a sense of humor.
The reason those hippies passed out on the floor and couldn't find the strength to stand back up on their feet is because they are vegetarians, they have no muscle left in their bodies. Especially that skinny lady who looks like she just got out of Auschwitz, the cops simply wanted to help them get back into shape, they serve good healthy meals in jail. This video lacked some protesters clubbed on the head by the cops. Two thumbs down.
Those pigs painted a different picture of town meeting day than Norman Rockwell ever did. Nice job of protecting and serving our first amendment there, boys.
there's a method and a correct way to protest. it's why protests involve marches. these people were causing an obstruction, they were asked to move, and they didn't. it's that simple.
There are plenty of protests that take place at the WV capitol complex in Charleston. My mother works there, and I hear about them from her all the time. None of them ever end like this. Most are peacable and the police are happy to leave them alone and let them do their thing.
Fucking hilarious!!! "my arm hurts, my arm hurts" here's an idea bitch....WALK lmao. I noticed the others sure as fuck started walking.

All hail Don's b*tch!

thiis is rediculous when the poloice tell you to do something have respect for them they are not the determining factor of whether it happens or not the have a job to do if you cause a problem which you did you will be delt with none of this would have happened if you would have complied
redlight105526 3 years ago
None of this would have happened if they would have helped build a new school in the number of years that led up to this event.None of this would have happened if the school wasn't sitting at the foot of 2.8 billion gallons of toxic sludge. None of this would have happened if we had a government that wasn't indebted to the coal industry. None of this would have happened if people like you would quit turning a blind eye to the obvious endangerment of hundreds of children.
MountainMemoirs 3 years ago 2
None of this would have happened if people didn't care more about their paychecks than poisoning their neighbor. None of this would have happened if the DEP were allowed to enforce state law without worrying about THEIR JOBS because of corporate political corruption. None of this would have happened if West Virginia would have never whored itself out to the coal industry. This wouldnt have happened if Don Blankenship wouldn't have done everything in his power to strip the union of its power.
MountainMemoirs 3 years ago 2
No actually it is ridiculous when mountains are being destroyed and peoples lives are being ruined especially those of children at a school. No child should have to be in a school with inches of coal soot on the walls and bags covering water faucets because the water is too toxic to drink. Coal company bosses should be arrested and locked up, most especially Don Blankenship of Massey Energy, for violating health and safety laws and clean water permits thousands of times
Anokpoet 3 years ago
Not only that but most miners aren't unionized or can't unionize because they are trying to prevent another Blair Mountain. They want to use up and mistreat the miners till they die and make sure they don't organize and get a better life for themselves and they also are bringing in miners from other countries to work there rather than local folks. The Gov. of WV and the heads of the coal companies all share a bed too make sure that the land and the people are exploited for as long as possible!

And why they are protesting i have no idea because when they building the new elementary school in the adjacent town about 45 mins away their kids will be bussed there and then are they going to protest the dangerous road their children will have to ride on.
sportsmom02 4 years ago
i no i hate it when people come from other states and start crap,
MyturBinisdrty 4 years ago
The companies, like Massey, who rape the mountains of WV and other states pit the coalminers and their families against the protesters, who have no other way to express their sorrow at the devastation the companies cause. Do miners really believe that these companies care about them? Or the children of Marsh Fork Elementary? "It's safe" How do you know? God controls things-you can't predict the future. Buffalo Creek residents believed what they were told, too. Like good little sheep.

anoenome 3 years ago
Yep, dangerous roads, long bus rides, mining operation and silo beside a school. You are right. I say protest all of those injustices. Kids should not be bused almost 2 hours a day to get to school and back. There are already kids from southern WV that ride the buses for 3 hours or more a day. Anyone who thinks that is ok obviously doesn't have a child in that situation. If they did they might feel a little differently about it.

yeah, this is real bad. i actually used to go to that school.sludge is NOT the only problem now. they just finished putting a coal silo right behind the school. if something were to happen, and it would fall, may God have mercy on whoever lies in its path. other concerns are rising, such as coal dust going on and into the school. If you were to go to that school right now, you could take your finger and rub any window sill you wanted and it would be solid black... coal dust.
1989firebirdduals 4 years ago 5
While trooper0096 maybe correct that it was a safety issue and they were blocking flow of traffic. Its sad to say but it may be the only way to get national attention. If the sludge was to overflow in Marsh Fork they have less than 6 minutes to fully evacuate the school or else they will all die. Thats just from the flood water not the carcinogens that are present in that water. I still sit back and wonder why so many people are "friends" of coal.

Freedom of speech is virtually universal and includes assembly.
ibezdaman 4 years ago
All you are validating is that the the rise of a police state would be a good thing and that people shouldnt have the right of freedom of speech. Americans are self absorbed, look at myspace and you tube. Asking for badge numbers is a right, they have a right to know who is abusing them, the people have a right to voice their opinion. And when the time comes ,a right to discard the oppressive government that wishes to silence them. Read the constitution and Declaration of Independence
ibezdaman 4 years ago
However, since everyone wants to make the coal industry the issue instead of the school. It was "PIGS" before. Lets talk about that a minute. Thought we should post another video with that as a topic so not to take away from the students. If you think coal minors are poor now try taking all their jobs away and leave them with no income.
sunsaint707 4 years ago
I never said that any coal mining community was rich or poor. The issue is the school. So, I brought up a historical fact. One that no one else was aware of or they would have mentioned it. Several students in Whales, by the way that's part of Great Britain, were killed when that coal buried their school. "HE who forgets the past is doomed to repeat it." Maybe we should bring back history classes.

mtneermike24 4 years ago
Disappointed to see the girl whining "It hurts it hurts!!" and then walking instead of having dignity and sticking to her guns and the apparent plan of passive resistance--that kind of whiny crap makes activists look bad. In contrast, the ones who allowed themselves to be dragged over curbs and down the street without complaint (or even smiling) in the name of passive civil disobedience have a lot of guts. They made those cops work pretty danged hard to arrest them. As they should.
limeginger 4 years ago
Hey! Your not going to tell me I got the last comment on this video are you? Look, kick the silo out of town then the protesters. Besides they need to save something for the Republican convention next year! Right! And right now they're making a darn good cause look bad. Spoiled children have to be drug out to a car when they don't get what they want, NOT ADULTS!
sunsaint707 4 years ago
On the issue of the school, it seems that I remember an incident in Whales in the 30's when a mountain of coal slid into a school and buried it. i know this coal is supposed to be contained in a silo, but it might be worth looking up.
sunsaint707 4 years ago
Also my family was in the Appalachian area as far back as 1771. I think you should stand by the people of that community. Just don't let the issue get confused with other issues. Once again I'm soory if I offended anyone. I'm trying to get people to see both sides.
sunsaint707 4 years ago
I want people to be able to take their children to the moutains as well. taking off the top of a moutain isn't the only way to mine I'm sure, just the cheapest. Go at that angle. Go at that angle and leave words like, "PIGS" ,and other similar words, out of it. The use of childish remarks like that demeans your friends and their cause. The other side has a lot to learn in that area as well. Sorry If I offended anyone but I used no language or insults. Just tough questions.
sunsaint707 4 years ago
The thing is this if I have to obey the law, and I do, so does everyone else including protesters. If I'm asked to leave and don't I go to Jail, If I don't walk out I get carried. If someone runs up behind the police carring me, and they yell and refuse to get back they go to jail to! End of Issue. Now talk about the school and why a Moutain top protection protest group was even there taking away attention from the school issue and refocusing it on themselves and their dislike for "PIGS."
sunsaint707 4 years ago
When I read the comments from the protesters, not just in this video but many protest posted on you tube, i don't see mention of the issue. I just see comments like "F*** the PIGS PROTEST,PROTEST,PROTEST" Protest about what? What's your issue? Pigs or Moutains? Also it didn't start out as a school did it? I thought it was the moutains. Then it became the coal mines. That's how people in W.V. make their living.
sunsaint707 4 years ago
I also have to agree with you about the moutains.I'm opposed to scenery being leveled as well as historic buildings be torn down. However, I think I can oppose this without becoming involved with Leftwing or Rightwing, yes they come from both ends of the political spectrum, extremist.
sunsaint707 4 years ago
By the way,"PIGS", was the moto for my police academy, in Florida not W.V., it stands for Pride, Integrity, Guts, and Service!!!
sunsaint707 4 years ago
I read all the comments on this video. From your own comments you and most of these protesters are not from this community. you're members of an enviromental group that is opposed to leveling mountain tops in coal mining operations.
sunsaint707 4 years ago
don't get me wrong i despise most cops but that girl is just stupid and wants to cry like a bitch now that she can't handle it
Dillinpickle 5 years ago
She was hurt because she refused to stand unlike the rest of the protesters who were escorted out later in the video. Idk the background to this but its makes no sense to complain about being hurt when u have the ability to avoid said injury by standing up.
tellerian 5 years ago
You know I fear that nobody involved in this except some of the old people on the video, who are probably residents, really care about the kids. You're right the GOVT. looks out for big money first. (We can change that by voting and filing petitions in the manner that the constitution provides.) However, most of those protesters don't look like parents or grandparents. They look like members of campus anarchist groups who only want to attack the Govt. no matter what.
sunsaint707 5 years ago
Still I must agree with you about the school. which I thought was your true issue. It seems that everyone one is happy to make it a COP issue. If so Just take the video to COURT. The judge might want to know, like I do, why the camera was turned off right after the Capt. spoke then turned back on when everyone started obstructing the officers and refusing to leave. Was that planned? Did your friends stage some parts?
sunsaint707 5 years ago
How many times did they ask you to back away? Were you arrested? You can take pictures without getting that close. You don't need to ask for name and badge numbers. Everyone is on film right, plus all the officers patrol units appear to be parked outside. Highschool kids know that the units are all numbered and assigned to individual officers. Also by policy every officer there must file a report which is public record and you can get the name that way as well.
sunsaint707 5 years ago
Well you were there and I was not. I can't see what you are talking about on the video. I do admit that their are people that shouldn't be cops. However, how do you remove an elderly person from a building when they won't walk? you say carring them is manhandling them. Why didn't you ask them to walk out? wouldn't they have listen to you? Also, when officers are making an arrest they have the right to ask people to BACK AWAY and not doing so is an arrestable offense in any state.
sunsaint707 5 years ago

Most sit in protesters are out of area professionals.
sunsaint707 5 years ago

I don't remember seeing too many parents from the area complaining, even the principal of the school himself has mentioned that its the business of the locals and no one elses.
qtipmotha 5 years ago
The coal silo isn't a problem. If its in the silo then its contained. Growing up in Charleston we had massive open piles around the area and no one ever had any problems with those. Illegal my ass. If you want to bitch about the situation, perhaps you do it on a local level? Then again maybe that would be because the locals don't have as much of a problem with it. How would you feel if I decided what was acceptable for your home community in Georgia?

Bullshit.
MrDanielLoomis 5 years ago
Sounds like they could have dislocated people's shoulders by carrying them out with their arms behind their backs like that. Anyone that says that peaceful protesters are cowards is lying. Many protesters get hurt in the process.
splashy9 5 years ago
I'm not against building the kids a new school. What are a bunch of college students from the opposite end of the state doing in Charleston (my hometown, currently I live in Morgantown) protesting something that has no effect on their own lives? They don't care at all for the people of Marsh Fork. They're there because its Massey.
qtipmotha 5 years ago
I think you're lying. Those voices complaining at the cops don't have southernwestern WV accents. Nice try though. The older folks I can see as being part of that community, but the younger ones don't fit the profile....period. The people around there don't dress like that, or don't sound like they do. All this over a coal silo.
qtipmotha 5 years ago
what aggressive tactics??? they picked the people up and carried them out in quite a calm manner. aggressive tactics would be riot police forcing every one out of the foyer by beating them with batons. i still wouldn't even consider that to be brutality since the people were instructed to leave.
helfix 5 years ago
The kids being pulled out aren't from WV, especially not the Marsh Fork area. From what I can see they're activists that like to go around thumping their chests and patting each other on the back for the good job they do. Those assholes that got maced don't care about Marsh Fork or WV. There are effective ways to go about making change, being some selfrighteous douche bag who makes a hobby out of protesting things that they know nothing about isn't one of them.
qtipmotha 5 years ago
One of the main functions of a protest IS to get arrested. Arrests bring press, the main point of protesting is to draw attention to concerns that are otherwise ignored by the mainstream press. If you believe that the anti-mountaintop removal groups have not tried every possible legal form of litigation, your are seriously misinformed. Your are talking about the most politically powerful, well financed corporations on the planet. Yeah - just sign a petition, that'll stop em!
Jasonyohon 5 years ago
Is that why the protestors were protesting Massey Energy? Because Massey Energy is for the state. Don Blankenship, Massey CEO and Gov. Joe Manchin (State) can't stand each other. Don Blankenship spent millions of his own money to defeat Manchin in the election. Yet, you claim the cops are protecting the state while arresting those stupid hippies protesting Massey Energy. Your an idiot. Who pays the taxes that pay for the schools? Not the hippies.

Of course it hurts. Just like everyone in jail is innocent. I thought the cops acted appropriately, noone got clubbed, shot, in fact the protester in pain probably got what she deserved for disrupting the peace and whatever else, and then resisting arrest and not cooperating with a state official.
