  • a musician for the people, and a true man of the people awesome

  • Fucking brilliant. Wish I was there. Met him in Sydney many years ago.

Beautiful man. Hetero speaking. Not in looks, but in outlook.

Very pleasant, interested in actually talking to people, not just wanking on about his own importance. Spiritual and calming. Ooh, did I menttion VERY VERY talented.

    K4

  • Fantastic!

  • Billy Ballbag spouting the same old tired, trite, hypocritical neo-marxist guff.

He is an irrelevant busker who does not practise what he preaches.

His politics are those of all the other mastercard marxists. He is an embarrassment for his 'music' and a joke for his 'politics'.

Bell-end wannabe communists who never grew up.

  • @Octavius0 Can't tell if troll or...

  • Bill is still a hero. He doesn't let the right wing intimidate. But he got no bloody time on QT tonight.

    Grrr, and meh!

  • @TheMimifur

    A hero for what, exactly?

  • couldnt agree with you more mr baker well said

  • Big fans, outside of the chorus no-one knew the words. What a massively shit gig! Jog on

  • Loobs666. Define the phrase 'Champaign Socialist'. In my opinion, nothing more than an idle term by people who read the Daily Mail. Just because a person chooses to fight for the less fortunate members of society, doesn't make him/her a hypocrite, because they have wealth. I view it as philanthropy instead.

  • The Ultimate Champagne Socialist! Talented man... just happens to be a I-know-better-than-thou hypocritical twat. What ya gonna do?

  • the last verse is the one he wrote for Kirsty MacColl's version of the song, he is singing it in memory of her

  • love billy is he gay ?dont alter my view ,love the songs xx

  • @michael17370 no he has a wife and kid who is also now an aspiring musician (he was talkin about at towersey festivl)

  • Thx BIlly!!

  • I like that someone's singing harmonies hehe

  • A certain group of revolting individuals, representing a lowlife political group tried to discredit Billy, in Dorset, where he lives, with their usual brand of blatant lies and poisonous leaflets, all because of Billys humanitarian standpoint and Live And Let Live views. It didn't work. All power to Billy Bragg, a brilliant songwriter, great musician, influential activist and a force for good in general. May you continue to be an Icon for young musicians the world over. I salute you Bill.

  • Suggs had a show? You Brits have some great shows! Genius idea.

  • @NORMANGODS im 'his people' and i dont feel betrayed, i feel enlightened

  • just uploaded a little cover of this song, please please have a quick listen :)

  • Well said watchmywords, at least Bragg fought for something and you could relate to his songs, none of that "you spin me round" shit.

  • @hernhillrebel wastin' the 10's writing lists of shit songs on the internet? 'Respect your balls?' fuck off.

  • @hernhillrebel FUCK OFF. i replied to one of your comments on another song of his. Seriously, stop watching his video's knowing you'l hate them just so you can slate them and get all political to make yourself feel clever. Its people like you who produce the mindless kids today that listen to the mono-tone 'lets all copy eachother's sound' chart music of today. oh and if you like "you spin me round"- go on "meatspin(dot) com" . Im 100% sure you will LOVE that site.

  • I'm from New England. . . I love to live life here :)

  • @Kobebeef1 I'm from England (U.K.) but I'm sure New England is a bit nicer (more room to breathe!)

  • @Kobebeef1 Just so you know, this song isn't about New England. He says hes not looking for a new England.

  • the girl in the front is defintely drunk.

  • Have have you noticed there's no bands which are far right?

  • @Aysome Skrewdriver were a neo nazi punk band. there's a few norwegian metal bands with objectional politics as well.

  • A great songwriter but please please please Billy stop singing, please, pretty please? for me? with a cherry on top? please stop, now.

  • @greg4uk

Isn't there a copy of The Sun you should be reading somewhere?

  • @Caxton1488 don't think so plonker

  • @Caxton1488 what you done? written any good songs ? tithead

  • @Caxton1488 couldnt agree more mate, i mean what a wanker..writing timeless songs which do nothing but unite the most legitimate of personalities.

you are a cunt of the highest order.

  • Don't feed the trolls.... Billy is a legend, seen him a couple of times in NZ back in the 80's, and anyone who can write a song like Levi Stubbs' Tears, which can make a grown man cry, is beyond reproach.

  • You write your greatest song ... but you cannot approach singing as well as the great girl !!!

  • 29 singers ! 1 guitar ! : ) for those who know ..it says it all :)

  • i really get the dude at 1:37 .........

  • Never know weither to cry or smile when I hear this (seems the crowd has mixed results as well). When in doubt I just dance like noone is watching with one fist in the air.

  • Grew up listening to Billy Bragg, influenced me about how unfair fucking Thatcher's Britain was in the 1980's. Awesome bloke, just awsome !

  • Hoplite1766 what r u talkin about. Bragg speaks about what is wrong and what is gr8 with the world. People like u make me sick.

  • class act billy lad.........

  • Brilliant.

  • It's a nice gesture of him to always sing those lyrics he wrote for Kirsty MacColl.

  • how cool wonder what it would be like to be there

  • I saw two shooting stars last night.

  • Fucking insane.

  • billy bragg is the man

  • bad news for music lovers: you sold out you little shouty shit. Lib-Dem arsehole.

  • @hoplite1766 No, he's a democratic socialist.

  • @hoplite1766 dik ed twat...e be a lib dem wanker

  • Shit, I meant 'Garageland'.

  • Love the fact that he references The Clash's 'Complete Control' at the end :D Overall a great performance of a still-great song.

  • Billy is real! He walks it like he talks it! He has released about 10 albums & umpteen singles! & never takes his fans for granted!

Is it a crime to move house? Trust Billy more than any Politician & more consistent with his views than most!!! RESPECT Billy!

  • great song,,,shame hes such a cultural marxist!

  • I saw Billy live twice during the 80s - great bloke with songs that mean something...... mind you his support act was Neil Kinnock MP back then... he got a laugh at least...lol

get your head out of your arse and get a life.

  • ummm... please fuck off HRHPrincePhilip1.

  • oh?

"I'm that bloke from Barking and therefore I've got to write about what's happening in my home town, which is being called the racist capital of Britain. You can't ignore that. And every night when I finish my gig I say, 'I'm Billy Bragg. I'm from Barking, Essex."

  • Except he lives somewhere rather nice and middle class by the sea now, I guess the view is better

  • Grande Billy Bragg...muy bueno.

  • Back in the garage...!!!

  • cool song. makes me want to break some stuff. bust up the joint. you know.

  • billy bragg...respected in the north

  • Everywhere I think ;)

  • dude, weak.

  • it aint about his voice, its about his lyrics you fucktard.

  • looks like you got a crush. Go brush your (singular) tooth.

  • looks like you have no aspect of talent, go fuck your sister.

  • he is more political then a good singer, he is an awesome song writer, and player, listen to the music and the words dude, not the voice....

  • Genius Bill!!!!

  • nice garageland reference

  • Does anyone know whereabouts in Barking Billy Bragg lives? I've lived here for nearly a year and I keep hoping that I'll bump into him in the town centre. I really respect him for staying true to his roots. Most people would move out when they become rich and famous to somewhere a bit more middle class. Good on you Billy!

  • billy lives in bruton bradstock (just outside bridport in dorset)

  • Thank you. How disappointing.

  • not really, hes done loads for the area and fits in very well down here, always says hello and always has time for a chat...top bloke

  • i know dorset well, been to weymouth many times on holiday, he did a show just up the road from dorchester didnt he, awesome bloke

  • yeah, he plays tolpuddle every july at the martyrs day thing they have. He often plays little gigs around the area too!

  • truly amazin, i remember a few years ago, well about 10, there was a problem with a sign on the A35, and the sign pointed toward toy town....was funny....the bit of road before dorchester i think it was...lol

  • Funny how a cockney sparrow might end up in deepest Dorset. A beautiful part of the world, mind. My Dad lived in Burton Bradstock for many years. I can't quite imagine Billy as his neighbour, shame I never bumped into him in the Three Horse Shoes - my fault for not going to visit my Dad enough, I guess.

  • i met him in a guitar shop in dorchester after a radio interview about a month and a bit a go. he's a legend

  • i like

  • Top Stuff!

    -Grimes-
