  • nice 1 mate

  • Its nearly 60 years old, now. Its diesel with mechanical gearbox ( might be "Self-changing gears of Coventry"?)--how nice to see something that old still earning its keep safely and reliably. Says a lot for the plastic electronic crap thats always breaking down you have to travel about in nowadays, with their mcdonalds type plastic seats..

  • @radioianj Yes it has SCG (Wilison) Epycyclic R14 gearboxes and Leyland 680 engines. The Pacers when built had an updated version of this gearbox the R500. Unlike the R14 they were so unreliable that they quickly were replaced by Voith.

  • whee fun little train 50p return to the bay, what a bargain!

  • I love the sound the gearbox makes when he realises it was'nt in gear when he revved up to leave-crunch!!!

  • classic i want to buy one of these (as its all i can prob afford)

  • Hopefully it's running tomorrow as i'm going there! Great vid!

  • i hate that train !!

  • @elpedro80 What's wrong with it? It might be 50 years old but its more cheerful than a Sprinter.

  • Is it diesel-mechhanic?

  • If Hornby brough the Bubble Cars out in that livery I would seriously buy it!

  • I think the livery spoils it.

  • Well at least they are still out there

  • S'pose

  • @JBTEvans Hi I have bought off the internet a Vinyl cover for my hornby 121 of this exact train.

Just browse for Vinyl covers for hornby / model trains class 121.

    Mine looks awesome.
