he plays with metal conventions more like an experiment. i can see why he's accused of being derivative if you just listen to it from a distance. all the bits of rhythm, nuance of emotions (not just the quiet/scream juxtaposition), odd, ritualistic possession-like melodies...this must be what it felt like to live in the same era as beatles, hendrix, etc LOL
