I agree that the visor removal/replacement process is cumbersome and difficult. I tried to install the smokey tinted visor and it took me forever to get it in. It simply doesn't slide into place like the instruction booklet says. I won't be trying that again anytime soon.
I always check out your reviews before considering buying a new lid. Definitely an evolution/refinement over the Corsair/RX-7. Just as comfortable but I don't notice the extra weight. Found the wind noise wasn't as bad as on the corsair, nor did I find I was affected by buffeting in crosswinds and at motorway cruising speeds.
I DID find however, the visor change mechanism required a bit of jigging because of the plastic visor ridge on the temple, but still allows fast changes
Hopefully Arai will re-issue the Colin Edwards RX-7 yellow/red replica, the helmet design which he wore when he rode for WSBK Castrol Honda team in 1999/2000. In my opinion thats the most striking design/colour Arai helmet to date... Please Arai...Thank you
Good video, thinking of getting the RX7, I always get Arai's and feel like treating myself to the top of the range, I think asher2010 may have a point but still going for it.
I've heard the argument that you shouldn't buy a $300 helmet unless you have a $300 head. So I guess that proves that there are other people besides you who mistakenly think that the reason to buy an expensive helmet is for more safety.
Truthfully, any DOT approved helmet will do the trick for safety as you said. But the actual reasons to pick a helmet are comfort, weight, air flow (cooling), aerodynamics (the tendency to pull on your neck), and personal aesthetics.
@asher2010 Dear Sir...I've always worn a Full face helmet starting with a Shoei
RF-200 Jazz red bought in the early 90's...After numerous Shoei X-8's, Astro's and Rapide's (Japanese market Arai)... Nowadays it's always an Arai RX-7 Doohan or Edwards replica on my head... I certainly would buy another Arai in the future...It's my head and I don't mind paying extra for it's protection...Thank You
@asher2010, see webBikeWorld for our detailed report on the differences between DOT and ECE helmet safety standards. There's a lot more to it than just the EPS liner.
What do you consider the best helmet for spirited street riding. I currently have a HJC HQ1 Carbon but I am currently thinking about getting an RX7 GP, what would be your recommendation. Thanks.
Thanks for your support! You ask a very complex question about the "best" helmet. Unfortunately, it depends on many factors that we address in our reviews. The most important is matching helmet fit to the owner's head. The "best" helmet in the world won't work if it doesn't fit correctly and comfortably. So my advice would be to try to find the "perfect" fit from a name-brand company and go with it! I tried 100 helmets before I found mine! (I have a weird shaped head though!).
Thanks for quick reply funny I tried on the RX7 GP at a bikeshow near me and it fits much better then my HQ1. I think that is what I am going to go for.

If the new RX-7 fits, you're in good shape, because you can't ask for much better quality than that!
