Loved Jorma's base with the Airplane. EVERY Hot Tuna album was CONSUMED (I was an engineering student). I was sorry when Papa Creech wasn't w/TUNA (but I was busy learnin'). Forever down the road, my gf's a country singer. Here we are. YEAH.
Wow. I really miss this guy and the hot tuna days. I am so happy to hear this new record and love the blues roots and choice of musicians. Been so long, so glad he made this record
Not only an all-star cast and terrific song selection, but might be the most outstanding recording production ever--clear, clean audio! Jorma's guitar? Wow!!! Compliments to all. Get this album!
I must be ignorant because I only became aware of Jerry Douglas recently after downloading a Peter Rowan/Jerry Douglas show and I was amazed by Douglas (the other Jerry :-)
Anyway, I have just about everything Jorma ever released, I always figured that was Jorma on Dobro on Blue Country Heart.
Thanks for the tip. I have been sitting here for the last 3 hours practicing the syncopated picking on Nick Drake's Cello Song. I've had to ditch the National picks and incorporate my ring finger of late, but any chance to learn for Jorma (the #@$%& man!) is greatly appreciated. Sounds like a great way to squander an entire summer Saturday, wearing my fingernails down to the nub.
Wow, thanks for the vid on one of my all-time fingerpicking heroes. I used to drop massive doses of hallucinogens and sneak right up front at every Hot Tuna show I could hit, to watch Jorma's right hand. Boy, was that ever an education. I owe my solid alternating thumbpicking to Jorma. I can't wait to get this record.
