Hitler called himself a National Socialist. They were called Nazis. Socialists, however, really hated this party. You have to understand that Socialism is a name, and when the great depression happened, people started to mistrust so-called "capitalist democracy" and so elements of the right and left started to form. Nazis were to the right, communists, anarchists, and socialists (all very different) were on the left. America is approaching this definition of fascism more than ever before.

@llriv wtf? Hitler wasn't a socialist. And as a German I must know it ;) Hitler's Party was called "Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei" (National Socialist German working-class party). OK, the name Socialism is in the Name of the party. But they had nothing to do with Socialism (Soft Communism). The NSDAP was fascism in the purest form.

Mario Palmeri? Giovanni Gentile? Alfredo Rocco? Ugo Spirito? Which Fascist philosophers did you study exactly? Because none of them wrote anything close to what you are mashing away about.
Side note: Just because Italy and Germany and Japan were allies, doesn't make them all Fascist. Anymore that the US and UK allying with the USSR made them communist.

@llriv the Nazis, coopted the term socialist. They were national socialists, which really meant nationalism, and the military machine over the socialism you are thinking about. The Capitalist German Elite empowered Hitler because they felt his regime would best preserve their interests. Socialism has been expressed in many ways. Traditionally military spending is not considered socialism, even though that is what it is in economic terms. Military industrial complex, this is fascism in reality

Fascism is a definition and is understood to be a government controlled by corporations. That's it. If you want to call communists or socialists fascists too. That's fine. Many of them have acted that way. In some cases, some fascists have also acted against capitalism, but only for national interests. It is characteristically militaristic.

Ummm... No it is very accurate. The U.S. (I should clearify I am American) is headed straight to fascism. Go Google the 10 Steps to Fascism, all 10 have been enacted already and we are in the process of whats been called a 'fascist shift'. Yes, the video was propaganda, however propaganda is not always bad, sometimes its all people need to stand up. As for the goals it mentioned, globalization etc. I don't know. Both of the candidates for the next presidency aren't too good either, but I would rather have Obama in office than McCain. Agreed. The founders were opposed to true democracy. They came up with several measures to guard against the whims of the masses. Anyway, our Constitution has not failed us. We have simply ignored it. Now our country is falling apart. It might be too late to stop it at this point, but someone has to try.
