Amazing!!!! The plane seems to be moving very slowly as well! That looks very frightening. That's testament to the engineering and piloting involved. Amazing.
What I'm wondering is this: exactly how much of the runway's length did the pilot use to get airborn, cuz from the video it didn't look like much. That was too cool. I don't care who designed this plane it's a testement to human enginuity.
no you are not a complete pscho at all i love them too! Evrytime i see one landing into sydney airport i stop whatever im doing at lookat the a380. Best planes ever! :)

Imagine an American doing such a stunt, he would be immediately removed from pilot. But when French, Italian, Russian do this, they get "unanimous" praise - even if the mishap happens (Italians were not blamed after killing 80 in Ramstein 1988!)
Now I know I will be lynched down since politically incorrect.
It was at an air show and was flown as a demo maneuver. Many "risky" stunts are performed at air shows world wide. I'm not sure what politics or passanger deaths have to do with anything...
I was commenting the stunt that comments above quasi-unanimously imagine and praise. Those praises are so ridiculous (when you *really* know the A380) that they can *only* be explained by the political agenda I denounced (of which the lynching of me is part).
The take-off actually shown on the video would be quite normal from any transport plane in an air show, and just recalls that A380 is (duly and normally for such size) *less* swift than average.
Impressive. She's obviously light and sounds like a TO into a stiff wind. But, a very light 747 will do the same thing, and an empty 757 will really put on a show!
Near the end did anyone else hear the music playing? Almost sounded like the score from the movie Apollo 13 where they are preparing for the launch...
@tehabc - You do realize that plane had minimum weight, right? There were no passengers and cargo so I'm sure any plane could do that with no passengers.
wow... the a380 is amazing for acrobatics. it has a lot of ailerons! usulay they are just on the outer section of the wing... by the looks of this video, they run the length of the entire wing!
The A380 is an amazing aircraft and this manoeuvre is particularly impressive. I saw the A380 do this at Farnborough 2008 (turning right) at the end of the Runway and it is one hell of a sight. How something so massive can fly so beautifully is a testament to its design and a credit to Airbus.
well the damn thing can carry 800 people and fly for 14 hours. Unload all those people, their bags, and carry only 30 minutes of fuel, there you have a power house that can do anything, probably even a barral roll!

You can do that to the 380 with Rolls Royce engines - bet you can't with the American engines.

ahh, just another day at John Wayne Airport!
the A380 is quite a lovely liner: sophisticated construction, ridiculous lift (but if they can jam 700 people onto it, you just know they will)

The plane without load and passengers can do acrobatic maneuvers without suffering structural damage

how does it not stall???
i dont understand how this beast doesnt stall or suffer structural damage from over stress on this maneuver.?
and please, dont tell me that its beacause its passenger-less and light on fuel....i know that.

@ticoman90 The A380 is designed to take to loads they are flying the aircraft at.

WTF can someone explain to me how the fuck the plane did not stall at that angle??
GinoRc 2 years ago 2
Put it this way, it has no passengers, no cargo, hardly any fuel so with the power of those engines its hardly surprising it was able to do that.
767Dude 2 years ago
Yeah that makes sense dude
GinoRc 2 years ago
Add that A380 got the best civilian airplane design.
Even with airshow conditions, try to climb at 30-35° just out the runaway and see what's happen.
Also A380 got an active anti-stall system who control flaps and avionics if needed.
