i think he hates the sonic series overall and im a 11 year old and i am alot better then him. what i dont get is that he is a man and he sucks but any kid like me could whoop is ass at this game.
At first I was thinking he just plain sucks at this game like a n00b, but after looking at the vid more closely he SLOWS DOWN right before jumping off. He must have been trying to kill himself just in a lame attempt to make the game look bad.
Either way (sucks at Sonic or on purpose) it fails to prove the point. If anything it proves that the jump button works just fine.
The only bad Sonic games were Secret Rings and 06, the rest was more than acceptable if not great. If IGN could handle Big's fishing sessions and Knuckles' treasure hunting, they should be able to handle the Werehog. IGNorant is the last place you should go for Sonic game recommendations. Even Colors was ''too hard'' to them, when it must be the easiest Sonic title(don't get me wrong, it was good, but way too easy). I personally give Unleashed a 9/10, it's challenging and fun with a good plot.
@EuroGamer360 bruh honestly its impossible to suck at this game you have to be dead from the neck down to suck at this game the ps2 version probably but the 360 and ps3 versions my 12 year old cousin beat this game in less then a week and that was because he had to go to school and had homework
@wbrodie55 Only IGN would suck at this game. I actually played this game before and all of the flaws IGN talked about were not present. I though this was a pretty decent game to be honest. The Werehog stages weren't even that bad either (just a bit overlong, and annoying).
@EuroGamer360 ikr this was probably the easiest to learn sonic game but held a good amount of difficuly ign fails at life if a little 12 year old beats a game without trouble and likes the game how in the hell could grown ass men and women fail at it tht takes some serious suckage to suck that bad heres the list of best sonic games imo
1 adventure and dx
2 adventure2 battle
3 heroes and shadow tie only because i couldnt get the C.E's
@carnyzzle its pretty good if you can gfet past the long load screens wierd love story sonics second supe speed mission and silvers missions sonics story and shadows story are really fun silvers shoulda been dlc
@RayAndFlare yeah, which is a 2D sonic game. I'm not going to lie to you, sonic 4 is a good game, but at least he didn't jump into a pit in that review.
I don't really see how you can judge one 3D Sonic game from any other one without appreciating a single one of them, as all have distinct differences between themselves and the 2D ones. It is ridiculous to make blanket statements like some of you have.
My opinion on Unleashed: SOLID. I enjoyed some parts more than SA2 and others less than Shadow. It could have been more, but the Werehog was too much of a pace-breaker. Overall, a good entry, as the good points outweigh the bad.
(continued)....but never says why? Seriously, I could go on all day. I have even seen reviews where they also lie about the game being reviewed. I bought a game recently and decided to read IGN's review of it. They gave the game a 3.0. 1 of their biggest complaints about the game was that it was too hard and because of this you have to watch the cutscenes as they can't be skipped at all. But they actually can be skipped! Many other reviewers said that to! Professional reviewers can't be trusted!
It doesn't matter how long you go on. Sonic Unleashed isn't "too hard" the level design is simply mediocre and there is alot of trial and error.
The Sonic Adventure games, while controversial, have much higher global appeal than these new Sonic games. The FEW people that could bother to finish Sonic Unleashed were existing Sonic fans, most other gamers got rid of it.
If you looked at gaming forums (not Sonic fansites) you'll know that most people hated Sonic Unleashed.
IGN are very unprofessional when it comes to games like this. It's not just with sonic, although it's most noticeable with their sonic reviews. I have all the achievements in this game. Think I could of done that with a faulty A button? No. Sonic Unleashed is one of the best Sonic games around (and my personal favourite too) and I generally prefer the 2D games(but still like the 3D ones except 06). Also, did anyone else notice that in the video review, he says the werehog sections are tedious..
Sonic unleashed is one of the WORST Sonic games around. In gaming forums in general, Sonic Unleashed was bombarded with negative comments. Only on Sonic fan-sites did you see positivity towards the game. Sega ADMITTED werehog sucked (black knight interview).
The jump button in Sonic Unleashed is unresponsive, ESPECIALLY at the worst times. There are too many times the game temporary disables jump, which can be hazardous at stupid times.
@itsokayright I seen the interview and they didn't say it sucked, they said it could be improved upon, which I agree with. It was fun but had flaws. But the day stages were amazing. I have a pirated copy of the game and the controls STILL work fine. Also, I have friends who aren't sonic fans and said they really enjoyed unleashed. Also a problem I had with 3D sonic games starting with SA1-S06 was that there were too many "kill enemies to open cage" sections. Unleashed fixed that.
Yuji Naka (the main Sonic guy) said that the 3d Sonic games are not too good, and that 2d is the true way to enjoy Sonic.
Yoshi (Sonic unleashed lead/producer) hyped Sonic Unleashed, but STILL said the 3d Sonic games so far have been terrible.
The only semi-decent 3d Sonic games to be released were Sonic Adventure games, and even those were arguable. Sonic Rush and Advance games are still not as good as the GENESIS classics. Only YOUNGER Sonic fans think otherwise.
@kingkaga898 ROFL. i'm hating that they purposely jumped off a ramp you did not need to press the jump button for. i've played the game myself and the jump button was responsive for me
@kingkaga898 WRONG. I have played it, and the A button is 100% responsive, and the controls aren't bad, and IGN are retarded because they hate the 360 version of the game cos of the night stages, but like the wii version, but that has 4 times as much night levels, so thats proof alone why they are retarded
Hillary obiviously hasn't made till adabat. No he didn't die in apotos day. But he got lost in the awfully small adabat hub world, or wen't searching for glitches. He'd mistaken X for the A button to jump cause he's obviously an FPS freak... HILLARY HAVE A CAR ACCIDENT PLEASE!
am i the only one who noticed this but one of two things bugged me
1) he wasnt even going full speed the speed bar was in the blue!!!
2)ummmm thats a ramp a horizontal to vertical incline that is suppose to lift in into the air a high rate of speed and if he played any game that involved going fast uhh Burnout 2,3, full auto you are always going as fast as you can hes just well i dont know if you seen some of the people play you'd be amazed youtube SU S rank name of stage its his controller!!
Wow, that just prooves IGN were playing the game bad on purpose to make it look bad themselves. I guess cause Sonic is an easy target.
If it was Mario or Halo Unleashed they would have gave it a high score like "5 stars 10/10, etc"
But to say this is worse than 06? You can't spell ignorant without IGN.
For me, i would give the game 8/10 it is good and Sega do seem to be saving the Sonic franchise now. So i say we can see more good sonic games in the future
@babclayman1 the game is good but the werehog sections were VERY repetitive i mean figh fight fight fight fight fight fight plataform then do it over again overall it is a 7/10 because the day time levels were increadible amaizing if it was only 40 bucks with only day time levels it is a 9/10
A - The IGN crew does not take sonic as a "easy target", with many of their editors being big sonic fans. (Hilary Goldstein, Levi Bucannon, etc.)
B - A Review Is an opinion, so if someone doesn't agree with yours, quit crying about it. If you enjoy a game, nobody else's opinion should matter.
C - It is obvious that you're taking two popular series' that were actually well made, and using them as a scapegoat to criticize how you don't appreciate what some other people enjoy.
@IndianaKatarn That's fine if they actually had a legit thing to say once in a while. But no, they don't. They're always wrong and their reviews are supposed to be some of the best out there. Hell, my local radio station swears by them as do many gaming based companies and internet sites, so when you're held in that high regard, we expect an actual play through and review of the game...this is a half assed opinion that makes Xplay look intelligent.
Err... Reviews are opinions first of all, so it's impossible to be wrong, so that's a useless statement, and secondly there HAS TO BE a reason that something is held up in high regard; they're obviously liked by pretty much every gamer except you SEGA fanboys.
And really, the point you made about expecting an actual playthrough of the game and a review - it's common sense that he reviewed the game (idiot), and he wouldn't be editor and chief of ALL IGN GAMES if he didn't play through games.
@IndianaKatarn First off, a review is an evaluation of a publication, such as a movie (a movie review), video game, musical composition, etc. So reviews and opinions are two different things. Secondly, money talks when it comes to getting noticed. If you whore yourself out to enough people (Game Informer and Gamestop) or look hot (Morgan Webb on Xplay), people will buy into your shit no matter what you say. And lastly, Editor and Chief of IGN...lol, that's not a good thing kiddo.
Each person has a different evaluation of things (a.k.a a REVIEW).
Second, a company can not build a good reputation without providing a quality service.
As I've said, your entire argument is predicated on the fact that you don't agree with a person that has a different opinion. It's good that you didn't waste your money on it. Even though you don't think so, not everyone will agree with you in life, and even though you don't think so THAT IS OKAY, KIDDO.
@IndianaKatarn The point of the video was to show that the person that played the game PURPOSEFULLY jumped over a segment of the level where you didn't even need to jump, which was over a dash panel. If this guy was going to do a review, he might as well have actually learned how to play the game (repeatedly pushing boost instead of holding it) (only doing the same werehog combo over and over again) even if he believed the game was crap.
I'm getting tired of teaching common sense to eight year old SEGA fanboys.
1. No, it was not purposeful when he jumped. If you said that you never died in a video game before, I'll kick you in the kneecaps and tell you that you're the worst liar ever.
2.About the werehog sections - REALLY? You WANT a crappily-controlled beat-'em-up segment in a game that was designed to be fast paced from the start of the series?
@IndianaKatarn Attention. I'm 17. and it was on purpose. I've reviewed this part over and over before putting it up. I've NEVER seen anyone else who played the game jump over a dash panel that gets you over an obstacle. If the controls really were broken, and I'm meaning Sonic '06 I would've let that slide, and you use VIDEO GAME in a very common term.
And albeit, I normally did not like the werehog sections, but I sucked it up and played through them
Apparently nobody who keeps nailing this section of his review accepts that we as human beings have made stupid mistakes. We all have. But to say that this was intentional is a ridiculous statement.
@IndianaKatarn That's frickin' ridiculous. If it's such a "stupid mistake" then why is it put to demonstrate how supposedly bad the jump button is? It's obviously either deliberately done to kill himself, or deliberately putting a "stupid mistake" in a game review. So what, you would show off all your mistakes if you don't like a game? Like a wise man once said, can't spell IGNorant without IGN.
As expected most of the people that like these games are part of the younger fanbase, often less intelligent.
In ANY video review, not just for games, stock footage is used to sync and demonstrait what they are saying. If he speaks about falling into a pit, a video of someone falling into a pit will be shown. If he speaks about getting hit by a dragon, a video of him being hit by a dragon is shown.
Why aren't you kids wise enough to understand this wasn't LIVE fotoage?
@itsokayright Of course it isn't. It's pulled from an archive of the guy "playing" the game. Also, an archive of not playing the game right (who boosts three times in a row? It's called "holding the button". On your ridiculous comment on jumping, I've jumped multiple times and it's always worked for me. If you're smart, you'd notice he slows down to jump OVER the booster, which adds to the obviousness of the rigged death.
So you're saying that just because someone's younger than you it automatically makes them stupid? Wow, you are a full-blown asshole. I'm not even going to bother arguing about your 'I'm right about all Sonic games' mindset, because I already know that you're wrong. Besides, it seems as if other people are getting onto you about that.
So you just keep flaming while I enjoy the new Sonic games, and don't bother replying, 'kay?
There is more than enough reason for this game to be hated. If you kept up-to-date with interviews, Sega lied and said this game fixes linearity (FALSE, this is way more linear than the SUPERIOR Sonic Adventure games.) Bottomless pits? No, more than ever.
Sega said most gamers would spend 2/3 of the game in daytime levels (LIES, more than 2/3 of this BAD game is werehog/medal collecting!)
Sega said hub worlds are optional in september 2008(LIES!)
You are a fucking moron. Game reviews use STOCK FOOTAGE to sync with what they are saying. When he spoke about pits, he requested footage of Sonic falling into a pit, simply for sync reasons.
If you are 17, you weren't with Sonic from the beginning, so you didn't witness the downgrade. You aren't even a true Sonic fan. You are part of the younger fanbase that likes this worthless trash.
You are 17? It is a plain FACT that the majority of the people that like these new terrible Sonic games are part of the younger audience that didn't even grow up with Sonic from the beginning.
That's not an opinion, it's a FACT. If you are 17, by the time you were old enough to even become a Sonic fan, Sonic games were already gone to shit. Sonic's popularity was decreasing by the time you were 10, and more pissed off fans than ever.
@itsokayright uh. how the hell am I not a true sonic fan? even though I wasn't old enough for the glory days, I did grow up with Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & the Sonic Adventure Titles. And Besides, how can you say that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is terrible? Sonic 4 is going back to the basics of Sonic's platforming, while adding a spin to this generation. Sonic Colors is using the good part of sonic unelashed, while adding new elements of gameplay. You sir, are a dumbass.
Actually, you're not a true Sonic fan. The GOOD part of Sonic Unleashed? You just stated an opinion.The werehog is supposed to be slow and always fight enemies. I liked the new gameplay, and just because you liked older Sonic games doesn't even make you a fan.
@HyperNugget9000 I never said I was a true sonic fan in the first place. The main reason why I didn't like the wherehog levels were that they pretty much were a bad rip off of god of war and had crap framerate issues on the 360/Ps3 version. and in the Wii/PS2 version, I started to get sick of them because there were may too many of the night levels. And please define "True Sonic Fan" for me please
@itsokayright Dude, lemme tell you this. You're fuckin' stupid. The first Sonic game I've ever gotten was Sonic Heroes. But shortly after I got the Adventure series, which I loved except for the alternate playing styles, I got Sonic Mega Collection. The most fun I've had playing Sonic since forever. Just because I'm twelve or the other guy's seventeen doesn't mean a single thing. He's played the classics, the Genesis used to come with Sonic 1, and for a limited time, Sonic 2.
@itsokayright (cont) And according to him, in the same way I grew up with Sonic Adventure and wanted to see how it all started through Sonic Mega Collection, it's very possible he thought the same way growing up with Sonic 3 and going back to pick up 1 and 2. I played my first video game when I was six. He had probably done so too. Just because by the time he's six and the adventure series had come out doesn't mean that nobody's allowed to grow up with the classics anymore.
@itsokayright You're by definition not a fan."an enthusiastic devotee, follower, or admirer" You're no longer enthusiastic about the Sonic series, you don't admire it anymore, you follow it only out of dislike, you violate the definition of "fan". A lot of Sonic fans will admit that Werehog wasn't a step in the right direction. But they'll also admit that Colors has the same alternate path style that the classics have. But you're not a fan, so you probably don't care.
@itsokayright oh god. another one who thinks that opinion is fact. Go to the gamefaqs sonic boards where all the trolls meet and argue there. They think everything they say is a fact.
@itsokayright Not true at all, I'm actually 14 but I didn't start gaming when I was 6 I started when I was 3 during the glory days, spending endless hours with sonics 1-3&K but I don't think sonic started to get crappy till shadow the hedgehog, but the daytime gameplay of unleashed was awesome. sonic 4 is a modern classic, don't complain they're using his new model or the zones look the same like a bitch. Colors is like unleashed, without the werehog and co-op, how can you complain
@itsokayright Oh come on dude, don't start that stupid "ZOMG TU R NAOT A TRUEEEE SONIC FANZ LIKE ZOMG!!!" bullshit again. Seriously, you're arguments means nothing when you mark out like some fat fanboy (Or markout worse than faggot ass Hillary's amazing playthrough of Sonic Unleashed). Who cares when you jumped into Sonic, as long as you realize how awesome it is. I come from the Genesis era (Sonic and Knux being my fav), but still, I respect it all and welcome newcomers to the fandom.
@itsokayright I'm sorry but the Mega-Drive Sonic Games are good but Sonic Adventure 2 and the day levels of Sonic Unleashed are way better. Old Sonic is great to play and still quite fun but most of the 3D ones have way more staying power and are much funner and on a much deeper level. The new ones have a flow that the old ones don't, Sonic is about speed yet the older ones rarely give you the impression of this, even when supposedly going fast. I think nostalgia is clouding your judgement

1. The jump was the most obviously deliberate things you could do. I've run and jumped, and it works all the time. The reviewer doesn't know how to play games. Hell how he got his job. Who jumps before dash ramp? It jumps FOR you. It throws you to another ledge. The hell.
2. Werehog wasn't the best idea. Mechs and treasure hunting were better in my opinion, and I think that says quite a lot.
I've stated it before, and I'll state it again: People aren't perfect. You've died in games. I've died in games. And about the comment on how he his his job - If you knew only a bit about IGN editors (which you obviously don't), then you'd know that he (and other editors who agree with this review), have been playing games for far longer than you have.
@IndianaKatarn See, if you watch the video, he's consciously slowing down and jumping. Why would you do that if you weren't intending to jump off a cliff and die? I thought I heard him complain about some Sonic games being "hold forward and win" or something like that. But he obviously slows down to jump. Note he can't even play the game right. You're meant to hold down the boost. Not to randomly press it. Boosting isn't for pressing buttons fast. QTE's are what that's for.
@IndianaKatarn 1. no, it's a fact. at the speed he was going, he would have hit the ramp if he had done nothing.
2.i'm saying the wii version is much worse than the 360 one, making it the only one worth complaining about.
and no, i'm not a sega fanboy. nintendo is my thing and still i'm not a fanboy about it. apparently anyone who brings logic into this review is not intelligent and a sega fanboy, while anyone who does the same cliche bitching is rational.
@IndianaKatarn Excuse me but I really enjoyed Sonic Unleashed, as well as almost all the other 3D Sonics. Now, my first video game system was a Sega Genesis with Sonic 2. I have played and own all the Genesis Sonic games as well as all the Saturn Sonic Games. I see nothing wrong with the 3D Sonic Games. The problem is people find one bug or issue with them and blow it out of proportion. IGN's Review was deliberately trying to find something wrong with Unleashed to justify giving it a bad score.
@IndianaKatarn That's been the cool thing to do as reviewers since Sonic Adventure DX. IGN's integrity has always been crap for the most part, that's why there is the saying "You can't spell ignorant without IGN." A lot of Sega games have recieved low ratings for no good reason over the years. For example, during the Saturn era lots of great games got bad review scores for simply being on the Saturn, even if the Saturn version was better than competing versions on other consoles.
@IndianaKatarn It did lie. IGN rated this game lower than Sonic 06, when Sonic Unleashed is so much better than Sonic 06. The fact that Sonic Unleashed isn't full of game breaking bugs alone makes it deserve a higher score than Sonic 06. Throw in that the game plays better and looks better, IGN's review starts to look like just a complete pile of trash and lies.
Oh, and god forbid I make a typo. Maybe if you had a real argument you wouldn't need to nitpick over little things like that.
Sonic Unleashed is almost as good as the sonic adventure games, you can't just say Unleashed sucks because of the werehog, that's the same as saying Sonic Adventure 2 sucked because 4/6 of the characters had boring stages, while Unleashed had 1/2 boring ones. It's at least more speed than shooting and collecting emeralds!!
oh my finally someone who actually gets how the things are. I mean, it's stupid and hipocrit to idolize SA and shit SU just because of the werehog. And by the way, werehog >>>>>>knuckles & rouge
Sonic Unleashed is also better than Shadow the Hedgehog, because at least the Werehog fights with his fists instead of using GUNS AND VEHICLES.
OK, Maybe I won't bash Sonic and the Black Knight, but the sword thing kinda makes wish for another Rocket Knight Adventures game. Why can't Konami do a Sparkster game on the Wii?! It would be perfect!
Oh, right....Solid Snake has top billing, because hardcore gamers LOVE "grim and gritty".
yeah they allways do that. in their review of sonic riders ZG they said the controlls dont work and whilst doing so drifted back and forth into the spinning cogs on the meteor tech stage clearly without even trying to go in a straight line.
There is such a thing as sucking at Sonic games. It isn't out of the relm of possibility that the IGN staffers have no one skilled enough to play successfully and thus Judge Sonic games. It's like when I was a Kid and wasn't very good at games, I would always blame the Game for my suckage
In sonic and the secret Rings, there are areas that are downright impassable if you don't have a particular upgrade, but once you get the upgrade, it's then just a matter of knowing the course. But if you have the Upgrade and there are speed runs on youtube with awesome success, and you still can't smoothly get through a Sonic Course, you either say "1" I am not Good enough yet, or "2" THIS GAME IS BROKEN AND FLAWED! I want to be "1"
Keeps me coming back too. It may have taken me longer to complete other games like Metroid and Mario Galaxy, however I don't return or just pop in for a quicky as often as I do Sonic and the Secret Rings. There are a few Moments where I get frustrated at Sonic and the Secret Ring and Black Knight, but with Practice I get better....I think that's what you call, a game.
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooob!
my grandma plays sonic rush ds better than this, and shes partially blind!

Everyone knows that IGN is shit, that's why no one listens to the reviews, but it's always funny to see how much they fail at doing em.
Ostnizdasht206 1 year ago
(continued)....but never says why? Seriously, I could go on all day. I have even seen reviews where they also lie about the game being reviewed. I bought a game recently and decided to read IGN's review of it. They gave the game a 3.0. 1 of their biggest complaints about the game was that it was too hard and because of this you have to watch the cutscenes as they can't be skipped at all. But they actually can be skipped! Many other reviewers said that to! Professional reviewers can't be trusted!
sonicbrawler182 1 year ago
@sonicbrawler182
If you looked at gaming forums (not Sonic fansites) you'll know that most people hated Sonic Unleashed.
itsokayright 1 year ago
IGN are very unprofessional when it comes to games like this. It's not just with sonic, although it's most noticeable with their sonic reviews. I have all the achievements in this game. Think I could of done that with a faulty A button? No. Sonic Unleashed is one of the best Sonic games around (and my personal favourite too) and I generally prefer the 2D games(but still like the 3D ones except 06). Also, did anyone else notice that in the video review, he says the werehog sections are tedious..
sonicbrawler182 1 year ago
@sonicbrawler182
There are too many times the game temporary disables jump, which can be hazardous at stupid times.
itsokayright 1 year ago
@itsokayright I seen the interview and they didn't say it sucked, they said it could be improved upon, which I agree with. It was fun but had flaws. But the day stages were amazing. I have a pirated copy of the game and the controls STILL work fine. Also, I have friends who aren't sonic fans and said they really enjoyed unleashed. Also a problem I had with 3D sonic games starting with SA1-S06 was that there were too many "kill enemies to open cage" sections. Unleashed fixed that.
sonicbrawler182 1 year ago
@sonicbrawler182

So i say we can see more good sonic games in the future
babclayman1 2 years ago 72
@babclayman1 the game is good but the werehog sections were VERY repetitive i mean figh fight fight fight fight fight fight plataform then do it over again overall it is a 7/10 because the day time levels were increadible amaizing if it was only 40 bucks with only day time levels it is a 9/10
MrFinalgamer 1 year ago
@babclayman1
IndianaKatarn 1 year ago
@IndianaKatarn That's fine if they actually had a legit thing to say once in a while. But no, they don't. They're always wrong and their reviews are supposed to be some of the best out there. Hell, my local radio station swears by them as do many gaming based companies and internet sites, so when you're held in that high regard, we expect an actual play through and review of the game...this is a half assed opinion that makes Xplay look intelligent.
KidMagnum 1 year ago
IndianaKatarn 1 year ago
@IndianaKatarn First off, a review is an evaluation of a publication, such as a movie (a movie review), video game, musical composition, etc. So reviews and opinions are two different things. Secondly, money talks when it comes to getting noticed. If you whore yourself out to enough people (Game Informer and Gamestop) or look hot (Morgan Webb on Xplay), people will buy into your shit no matter what you say. And lastly, Editor and Chief of IGN...lol, that's not a good thing kiddo.
KidMagnum 1 year ago
Each person has a different evaluation of things (a.k.a a REVIEW).
Second, a company can not build a good reputation without providing a quality service.
As I've said, your entire argument is predicated on the fact that you don't agree with a person that has a different opinion. It's good that you didn't waste your money on it. Even though you don't think so, not everyone will agree with you in life, and even though you don't think so THAT IS OKAY, KIDDO.
IndianaKatarn 1 year ago
@IndianaKatarn The point of the video was to show that the person that played the game PURPOSEFULLY jumped over a segment of the level where you didn't even need to jump, which was over a dash panel. If this guy was going to do a review, he might as well have actually learned how to play the game (repeatedly pushing boost instead of holding it) (only doing the same werehog combo over and over again) even if he believed the game was crap.
carnyzzle 1 year ago
@carnyzzle Well put Carny.
KidMagnum 1 year ago
Ugh.
To each his own, but that continues to baffle me.
IndianaKatarn 1 year ago
@IndianaKatarn Attention. I'm 17. and it was on purpose. I've reviewed this part over and over before putting it up. I've NEVER seen anyone else who played the game jump over a dash panel that gets you over an obstacle. If the controls really were broken, and I'm meaning Sonic '06 I would've let that slide, and you use VIDEO GAME in a very common term.
And albeit, I normally did not like the werehog sections, but I sucked it up and played through them
carnyzzle 1 year ago
Attention. No. It wasn't.
Apparently nobody who keeps nailing this section of his review accepts that we as human beings have made stupid mistakes. We all have. But to say that this was intentional is a ridiculous statement.
IndianaKatarn 1 year ago
@IndianaKatarn That's frickin' ridiculous. If it's such a "stupid mistake" then why is it put to demonstrate how supposedly bad the jump button is? It's obviously either deliberately done to kill himself, or deliberately putting a "stupid mistake" in a game review. So what, you would show off all your mistakes if you don't like a game? Like a wise man once said, can't spell IGNorant without IGN.
Drunksonic 1 year ago
@Drunksonic
Why aren't you kids wise enough to understand this wasn't LIVE fotoage?
itsokayright 1 year ago
@itsokayright Of course it isn't. It's pulled from an archive of the guy "playing" the game. Also, an archive of not playing the game right (who boosts three times in a row? It's called "holding the button". On your ridiculous comment on jumping, I've jumped multiple times and it's always worked for me. If you're smart, you'd notice he slows down to jump OVER the booster, which adds to the obviousness of the rigged death.
Drunksonic 1 year ago
@itsokayright
AlphaEbony 1 year ago
@Drunksonic
Sega said hub worlds are optional in september 2008(LIES!)
itsokayright 1 year ago
@carnyzzle
You are part of the younger fanbase that likes this worthless trash.
itsokayright 1 year ago
@carnyzzle
You're not a true Sonic fan.
itsokayright 1 year ago
@itsokayright uh. how the hell am I not a true sonic fan? even though I wasn't old enough for the glory days, I did grow up with Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & the Sonic Adventure Titles. And Besides, how can you say that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is terrible? Sonic 4 is going back to the basics of Sonic's platforming, while adding a spin to this generation. Sonic Colors is using the good part of sonic unelashed, while adding new elements of gameplay. You sir, are a dumbass.
carnyzzle 1 year ago 7
@carnyzzle
Actually, you're not a true Sonic fan. The GOOD part of Sonic Unleashed? You just stated an opinion.The werehog is supposed to be slow and always fight enemies. I liked the new gameplay, and just because you liked older Sonic games doesn't even make you a fan.
HyperNugget9000 10 months ago
@HyperNugget9000 I never said I was a true sonic fan in the first place. The main reason why I didn't like the wherehog levels were that they pretty much were a bad rip off of god of war and had crap framerate issues on the 360/Ps3 version. and in the Wii/PS2 version, I started to get sick of them because there were may too many of the night levels. And please define "True Sonic Fan" for me please
carnyzzle 10 months ago
@itsokayright Dude, lemme tell you this. You're fuckin' stupid. The first Sonic game I've ever gotten was Sonic Heroes. But shortly after I got the Adventure series, which I loved except for the alternate playing styles, I got Sonic Mega Collection. The most fun I've had playing Sonic since forever. Just because I'm twelve or the other guy's seventeen doesn't mean a single thing. He's played the classics, the Genesis used to come with Sonic 1, and for a limited time, Sonic 2.
Drunksonic 1 year ago
@itsokayright (cont) And according to him, in the same way I grew up with Sonic Adventure and wanted to see how it all started through Sonic Mega Collection, it's very possible he thought the same way growing up with Sonic 3 and going back to pick up 1 and 2. I played my first video game when I was six. He had probably done so too. Just because by the time he's six and the adventure series had come out doesn't mean that nobody's allowed to grow up with the classics anymore.
Drunksonic 1 year ago

carnyzzle 1 year ago
@itsokayright You're by definition not a fan."an enthusiastic devotee, follower, or admirer" You're no longer enthusiastic about the Sonic series, you don't admire it anymore, you follow it only out of dislike, you violate the definition of "fan". A lot of Sonic fans will admit that Werehog wasn't a step in the right direction. But they'll also admit that Colors has the same alternate path style that the classics have. But you're not a fan, so you probably don't care.

Drunksonic 1 year ago
I've stated it before, and I'll state it again: People aren't perfect. You've died in games. I've died in games. And about the comment on how he his his job - If you knew only a bit about IGN editors (which you obviously don't), then you'd know that he (and other editors who agree with this review), have been playing games for far longer than you have.
IndianaKatarn 1 year ago
@IndianaKatarn See, if you watch the video, he's consciously slowing down and jumping. Why would you do that if you weren't intending to jump off a cliff and die? I thought I heard him complain about some Sonic games being "hold forward and win" or something like that. But he obviously slows down to jump. Note he can't even play the game right. You're meant to hold down the boost. Not to randomly press it. Boosting isn't for pressing buttons fast. QTE's are what that's for.
Drunksonic 1 year ago
@IndianaKatarn okay.
1.no one dies in that way. he also slowed down while going down a hill, meaning he had to intentionally press back to go slower.
2. you wanna bitch about the werehog? play sonic unleashed wii, where there are at least 3 more werehog stages than sonic stages.
robertreturns 1 year ago
1. That's a subjective way to view things, and not a very intelligent way.
2. How is that a good thing?
IndianaKatarn 1 year ago
@IndianaKatarn 1. no, it's a fact. at the speed he was going, he would have hit the ramp if he had done nothing.
2.i'm saying the wii version is much worse than the 360 one, making it the only one worth complaining about.
and no, i'm not a sega fanboy. nintendo is my thing and still i'm not a fanboy about it. apparently anyone who brings logic into this review is not intelligent and a sega fanboy, while anyone who does the same cliche bitching is rational.
robertreturns 1 year ago
@IndianaKatarn Excuse me but I really enjoyed Sonic Unleashed, as well as almost all the other 3D Sonics. Now, my first video game system was a Sega Genesis with Sonic 2. I have played and own all the Genesis Sonic games as well as all the Saturn Sonic Games. I see nothing wrong with the 3D Sonic Games. The problem is people find one bug or issue with them and blow it out of proportion. IGN's Review was deliberately trying to find something wrong with Unleashed to justify giving it a bad score.
SegaFanatic5188 1 year ago
@SegaFanatic5188
I'm not going to even mention the countless issues with your argument.
Just answer me one question:
Why do you think they would deliberately sabotage a game's score?
C'mon man. They're the biggest gaming/film review company out there.
You can't get to that point without integrity.
IndianaKatarn 1 year ago
@IndianaKatarn That's been the cool thing to do as reviewers since Sonic Adventure DX. IGN's integrity has always been crap for the most part, that's why there is the saying "You can't spell ignorant without IGN." A lot of Sega games have recieved low ratings for no good reason over the years. For example, during the Saturn era lots of great games got bad review scores for simply being on the Saturn, even if the Saturn version was better than competing versions on other consoles.

1st grade grammar, dude.
IndianaKatarn 1 year ago
@IndianaKatarn It did lie. IGN rated this game lower than Sonic 06, when Sonic Unleashed is so much better than Sonic 06. The fact that Sonic Unleashed isn't full of game breaking bugs alone makes it deserve a higher score than Sonic 06. Throw in that the game plays better and looks better, IGN's review starts to look like just a complete pile of trash and lies.
Oh, and god forbid I make a typo. Maybe if you had a real argument you wouldn't need to nitpick over little things like that.
