Pound for pound, the Chevy 302 is my favorite motor. Everyone loves the huge big blocks with tons of low end torque, but the short stroke in this little motor generates all of that high end power. It seems to be unappreciated by many. I gotta think a big block 396 in these smaller cars killed handling.
@bg147 I agree with you 100%. The little 302 was the engine that could, but the big blocks got more attn. The lighter weight of the 302 made the camaro's handle so much better.
@harddrivin1le your a idiot. I was not giving it all it has. The engine is not a fresh build. lets see what your "bone stock" can do in 2052 against a 2051 car. That is, if you still own it. Of course a newer car is going to be faster then a 42 yr old car that has a stock engine of the day. I read your other comments you post on other videos and it seems everything you have is better then what everyone else has. seems like you never got past 12 yrs. old. slower or not, I would still own a 1969.
@XboobtubeX gotta say im much more jealous of the guy with the 69 great car and im sure mr. harddrivin1le is too.... your one of a few thousand compared to the few hundred thousand who already bought a new one like this dumbas why doenst he have a 69 z28? either he couldnt afford one, didnt have the common sense to buy a classic, wouldnt be able to handle the power of a z28, or maybe even just found out what a z28 is when he figured he should learn about the history of his cool new car he bought
@XboobtubeX you should take a look at the debate ive been having with some guy about cars being stock on the video Battle Of The Supercars Camaro SS vs. Shelby GT500 Mustang Part 1
@KHAN1350 just cruising I would guess around 14-16 mpg.
It has 4:10 gears, so it revs high all the time. But it was not
built for fuel economy and if you are concerned with that, don't buy or build one.
It is a "toy" to take out and play with at times. And I buy 110 octane racing gas(at $7.30) a gallon)
and mix it with 93 octane at the pump to give me a result of 100 octane. It runs great on this mixture. So a 60's muscle car is only for those people who are willing to spend the extra money.
@fixitman21 Then you didnt have a 69 z28 they only came with 3.73s or 4.10s and four speeds only. I guess you could have changed the gears then maybe you would be correct. I doubt a 302 would get anywhere near 20, It was a purpose built race engine pretty much. You would have to have some high gearing just to move these things, no torque it was all or nothing with the z28.
Needs a Gear Vendors overdrive unit.
beeroosterm 1 month ago
@beeroosterm No, thats the 4:10 gears in the rear. these 302's you need to rev to
get the power band out of them. A overdrive unit would be a bad thing.

Very nice. What transmission do you have? Sounds like the perfect gearing for that motor.

@XboobtubeX Yup............the BB just literally threw itself around. Guys used to brag on the shear
(violence) of a BB mistaking out of control power for street smart driving. I think the real DZ model even
had the advantage of frame lightening. She made a good driver better.

@ScoopDaddy488 No, I did not have a Z28. I had a 350 in mine. Just stating that in 1969 you could get a kick ass car and still get 20MPG.
