  • Awesome upload! Thanks!

  • ok, question that my googling can't seem to answer-

what are the shutter type things behind the jet engine that close partially when you throttle up called? I assume they increase pressure & thrust but I don't know their name. Thanks x1,000,000 to anyone who can answer this.

  • @komodomoe

I think you mean VEN's - Variable Exhaust Nozzles =) u are right about that they increase pressure and make more thrust.

  • @DiiDuck

    Thank you SOOO much.

I love how they say it's every pilot's dream to fly one of these in the video because that's what I used to think until I started flight training at UND. Half the people here don't have any interest in military aircraft and only dream of commercial airliners. How boring... I'm the only one out of my friends who has any plans or desire to join the service with the dreams of hopping in one of these babies.

  • @komodomoe how is your progress coming along. I'd love to get some first hand knowledge about this plane. It's one of my favorites.

  • @Mike32587

    Hey,

I'm still getting my navy package together but my graduation date won't be until winter 2013 so I won't know what these babies are like till then. As of now, I've only got Cessna 172 time lol.

  • Probably the most beautiful looking fighter in the world.......

  • @gr8ShahidMahar It is a beauty.

  • nice cable guide on the bottom ther m8,but thxs for putting this up

  • The F/A-18 is a very nice Aircraft and very easy to fly.. In Swiss Air Force Pilots lern to fly in the Pilatus PC-7 Turboprop, after they go one in the Pilatus PC-21 Turboprop and then direct to the F/A-18. Its so nice to see how powerfull the F/A-18 can manover in the swiss Mountains.

  • that's alot of fuel burnt

  • This thing is beautiful, but the F-22 Raptor is even better. It's too bad that some of the hardpoint spaces are taken up because of extra fuel tanks... if only they had designed it to carry more internal fuel.

  • Its Fast And Furious~

  • too bad...this planes will be replaced by f-35 steal fighter in 2014..

f-35 or JSF fighters will be the main fighter plane to serve the us navy in that year. even in the carrier the f/a 18 will be out, replaced by f-35 variant f-35c carrier-based.

  • RUSSIAN AND CHINA SU-30 AND OTHERS,plus there missile out range ours BUT WE HAVE THE POOR F-18 PROTECTING THE FLEET AND AMERICAN AND NATO( OUT MATCHED ) WE KNOW,YOU KNOW IT, NOW IT'S TIME TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.... AND PLEASE STOP CALLING THE F-15 THE BEST FIGHTER IN THE WORLD some americans can handle the truth

  • @hotrod4you2 r u retarded? only american jets had fighting records. stop saying stuffs that u dont know

  • Comment removed

  • @thomaspruzina dude your so wrong, the f-22 a.d in any fight W/ F-18C, the navy is now weaker because of the f-18,the f-18 is NO fleet defense weapon, its a fighter/bomber american has the weakest dog fighter navy of all top military's SOON PEOPLE START DEMANDING A REAL AIR.DON SOONER WE MIGHT GET 1 ?

  • BAGGIN PLANE...Fuck the Euro/Shitfighter! US Aircrafts RULE! FUCK YEAH!LOL

  • @dougiecoolietrini The Eurofighter's potentially a more capable than the hornet, but currently, only marginally.

  • F/A 18 is gorgeous!

  • @Phishyness Everything the F/A-18 is capable of, the F-14, EA-6B, and/or S-3 were more effective with, or was the forerunner of the technology the "bug" and "Superbug" possess. In fact, everything the E/F/G can do is inferior to already existing aircraft. The problem with the Prowler, Viking, Tomcat is old airframes. If new airframes were built, the hornet would be completely useless to the navy, aside from maybe its number of hardpoints.

  • How do you get selected to fly F/A 18 hornets?

  • @clarkdoc first become a naval officer, then quailify for basic pilot selection, they basic flight school, they specialty training, for the super hornet you'd go to advanced jet/tail hook school, then go for training on the super hornet. takes a couple years of pretty much being the best in your class throughout the whole process.

  • @macuss87 its like 1 in 100,000 people who get to it

  • This may be a doublepost. Ok now I see, I apologize for explaining the wrong thing. All I wrote about above was about ejecting and ejection seats. My native language is Swedish, and "Catapult" in swedish is the equivelant of ejection seat in english.

  • f22 will beat an f/a 18 in a dog fight

  • Considering the f-22 is 20something years newer and designed as an air2air monster, and the f/a-18(fighter/attack) is designed to be a fighter bomber, yeah it would, f-22s right now can beat anything else in the sky, the problem is there are only plans for 187 f-22s

  • Meh I don't really see that problem close to 200 F-22's is a huge amount if it was any other country. And nobody else even has 5th gen fighters even close to being in service so it's just redundant to make 700 F-22's right now. Especially considering their expensive as hell and we're not exactly swimming in money anymore.

  • @OlderG0ds

Actually, the Russian Federation has had their 5th generation since 2007 and are working on the 6th generation.

  • @futurejarhead0311 yea, on blueprint

  • @hotrod4you2

the t50 (5th generation) was first ordered in 07'

theyre working on the new one now as the t50 is put into service

  • @futurejarhead0311 185 F-22 have already been made the USAF is already talking about a F-22B but that's more for ground attack

  • @Dogmeat1950

ya but frankly it'd be much more reasonable to continue to upgrade the F-15 models ("C" model for air/air and "E" model for ground attack) use the F15E for a "quick responce" attack aircraft while the A10's or attack choppers make their way to the the combat zone and continue to make new, modernised models of the F15C. and on another note the Navy needs to get a new fleet defence fighter that can match or exceed the level of preformance the F14D had. the F18 isnt suited for (1of2)

  • @Dogmeat1950

use in a fleet defene, interceptor, or direct ground attack, its under gunned, barely transonic, among many others.

its more suited as a front line AWACS, light refueling aircraft, and spotter craft for actual interceptors to engage.

  • @futurejarhead0311 keep dreaming

  • How many G's do the pilots see on the catapult? NE 1 Know?

  • 14 - 20 g depending on seat.

  • That must be one hell of a rush- why would the G's differ depending on seats?

  • Yeah, no wonder one can get a spinal compression. Old catapult seats had one charge. Newer has multi stage rockets which accelerates the seat/pilot softer. Heavier seat/pilot = less acceleration aswell. Force/Mass = Acceleration, unless the new seats have some kind of throttleable rockets which I doubt.

  • Thabks for the info, you know ur stuff.

  • Comment removed

  • 14-20gs? Are you stupid?

  • Why do you respond when you obviously have no clue? Just do some research, and then you can apologize. I will not respond to you (a4g...) anymore

  • I think you need to do some research. A human CANNOT endure 20gs for that long period of time. Your brain would have no oxygen and all the blood would be away from your brain.

When your going from 0-170 you would not be taking 14-20gs. Think of a roller coaster.

  • i think it's something like 6 during the cat shot and closer to 8-9 for a couple seconds once it gets off the bow.

  • I love F/A-18 ;)

  • Sweet. I missed this on Tv!

This is my futue plane to fly.

    Ty for the upload.

  • @a4g0t3nF1ght3r See you up there. I'll be flying the 35 too.
