this people with camaro end video right at the top of the gear, if they would show more video when the car shift's to a higher gear they would get walked easy.
Its all about power band. Bmw has shorted gear the only reason why camaro catch up at the end because bmw had to shift to a higher gear drop some boost when camaro was still in lower gear once camaro would shift to a higher gear it would be all over for camaro.

I have to admit the tune will make a big difference on the camaro, when i was untuned with the same set up my car ran way too rich. After the tune it will make a big difference.
Well according to the track times the cars have a good mph difference and 1/4 mile time difference....on the street it looked like the race would've been a lot better minus driver error (note the update comment )

Dude...Take off the weight and it will be the same race...I always raced my LS1 Z28 with a passenger, and I can tell you it is not a car length diffence just by losing the passenger...
awesome performance for 335. 335 is a better overall car. its newer, just as fast and luxurious. for straight line acceleration the camaro def has greater potential. if i had camaro and lost to a 3 series id get a new camshaft quick or a little nitrous. ls1 engines with nitrous are sick!

ls1 f body have around 325hp corvettes have 350, still way better than a bimmer... im not hating on bimmers i actually like them, but in this case i have to give thumbs up for the ls1, and yes maybe they're better at straight lines but when ur racing on the streets or highway u race STRAIGHT LINES... right? and did u use wider tires and rims on ur camaro? cause my formula with 315/35/17 [back] and 275/45/17 [front] can make turns at faster speed without losing control than with normal tires

The standard C6 Corvette out accelerates and competes with a Porsche 911 around a course. The C6 Corvette Grand Sport straight up out accelerates and out handles the Porsche 911. Maybe you're thinking 6-10 years ago. Research helps, the Corvette is the best bang for buck all round performance car.

Yes, I've worked for GM as a technician, and I am currently a BMW technician, so I've pretty much driven the entire line-up. Anything from a cobalt to Vette, and 318 to M6. Although the Camaros are a very fast car in a straight line, the newer BMW's are far superior. The cars are so different, its hard to compare them. Straight line performance? GM is the way to go. Everything else you'd want in a vehicle? Aim for the Bimmer
To all the people bashing the BMW...just because the Camaro is a faster car in a straight line than a BMW doesn't make the BMW crap. The BMW would destroy the Chevy around a track. BMW made this car to be a drivers car, not a drag car. They want a car that handles well, brakes well, accelerates fast, but still is comfortable, and luxurious. The Camaro pretty much just accelerates fast. I like the Camaro, but the BMW is the better car. Drag racing them to make the conclusion is pointless.
BMW's are better overall cars, but they are not necessarily faster around some race cources. In some same class races you will see camaros dominate some beemers...
@cwhitty05 it also has a 30 thousand dollar price tag for one used with a bit of miles on it. They will be cars to own in another 2-3 years when the price drops to the low 20s you can pick up a low mileage ls1 camaro from 10-15 thousand

@Oehlke92 I'd have to see you out-corner, or out-brake a BMW to believe it. Take a stock SS, and then take a stock 335, and take them to a skidpad and slalom course, I bet the BMW will achieve a higher g cornering, and will have a higher speed through the slalom, and I'd imagine it would stop in a lot shorter distance. The SS is a great car, I'm not knocking it, but the BMW is more comfortable, handles better, brakes better, corners better, and is a lot safer. its built to be safe at 150mph.

I'll tell you that the Camaro has faster slalom times according to C&D, and skidpad is pulling a .92 so its' not far behind if any. also if you think a 335i is safer, SEE a camaro crash into a 335 and see who drives away.
I used to have a 01' Camaro SS with a L92 402 making 500whp. The only thing the car did well was rip the doors off of stuff on the highway. It handled like a yacht and the window motors would die out every 6 months and have to be replaced. Also, I really don't think a Camaro is really stable past 150, the stock brakes on a F-Body Camaro are trash. That's why I upgraded to a Z06, it handles, brakes, accelerates, and pulls ladies 10x better than the Camaro.
@need2speed94 I'm just going to keep my 03' GT for now. I can keep up and beat my friend's 97 LT1 with bolt-ons. I'm not a big fan of the f-body and all the guys I know with GTO's say get a c5 for the same price.
@txmetalcobra LT1 is a different story. Id only pickup one if i planned on heavily modding it and boosting the hell out of it. And yea a c5 is a great cheaper sports car. If you can, get a c5z.
@need2speed94 Oh yeah, the LT1 is a pain. I want to do an LS1 swap on my GT but I would also have to do a tranny swap and go and get a T56. Then I would have to change out the center console setup, lol. I'm already heavily invested in a 1976 step-side Ford restoration and I don't have the time for it. If the insurance wouldn't completely rape my wallet, I would find a c5 zo6. I found a few c5's for a great price and the insurance wouldn't know about any STS turbos later on, lol.

no. the 330 xi is the all wheel drive. C is the coupe or convertible designation. And there are no more 330's made. 3 litre engine is now the "328" and the twin turbo 3 litre is the 335.
About what I expected, really. From a roll the turbo car pulled for a bit but then the all wheel drive turned against it and the Camaro started to pull. From a dig it would be interesting to see. I think the 335 would take him to 60 and once the Chevy got its revvs up it would seriously start to pull HARD. Still a good race though.

well my only explanation is this, If you watch the video carefully at the end of every race the camaro starts pulling on the bmw but the camaro guy lets off.
When they ran the quarter mile, the camaro was not carrying an extra passenger whom seems to weigh 180lbs - 200lbs atleast.
IF the Passenger was in the bmw, the Camaro would have pulled a little bit faster on the bmw.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The DZ302 from a '69 Z28 Camaro when blueprinted will make well over 400hp as well as being able to rev to 7000+ RPM. As far as a "vtech 4cy honda", (proper abbreviation is VTEC, stands for Variable valve Timing Electronic lift Control) it will have a hard time keeping up with anything unless it is a B or K series that has been modified/tuned. So stop polluting the internet with car knowledge you learn from your dumbass friends/family members.

What does "Dinan" mean? Does that mean like an entire S1 kit, or just some aluminum pedals? I see "Dinan" and "oil" in your description. Does that mean Dinan oil cooler? If so, that does nothing except keep the engine from overheating like some early build N54 engines have been doing. Doesn't help performance, car is still basically stock if that's the case.

Yes, I've worked for GM as a technician, and I am currently a BMW technician, so I've pretty much driven the entire line-up. Anything from a cobalt to Vette, and 318 to M6. Although the Camaros are a very fast car in a straight line, the newer BMW's are far superior. The cars are so different, its hard to compare them. Straight line performance? GM is the way to go. Everything else you'd want in a vehicle? Aim for the Bimmer

To all the people bashing the BMW...just because the Camaro is a faster car in a straight line than a BMW doesn't make the BMW crap. The BMW would destroy the Chevy around a track. BMW made this car to be a drivers car, not a drag car. They want a car that handles well, brakes well, accelerates fast, but still is comfortable, and luxurious. The Camaro pretty much just accelerates fast. I like the Camaro, but the BMW is the better car. Drag racing them to make the conclusion is pointless.

Take a stock SS, and then take a stock 335, and take them to a skidpad and slalom course, I bet the BMW will achieve a higher g cornering, and will have a higher speed through the slalom, and I'd imagine it would stop in a lot shorter distance. The SS is a great car, I'm not knocking it, but the BMW is more comfortable, handles better, brakes better, corners better, and is a lot safer. its built to be safe at 150mph.

I used to have a 01' Camaro SS with a L92 402 making 500whp. The only thing the car did well was rip the doors off of stuff on the highway. It handled like a yacht and the window motors would die out every 6 months and have to be replaced. Also, I really don't think a Camaro is really stable past 150, the stock brakes on a F-Body Camaro are trash. That's why I upgraded to a Z06, it handles, brakes, accelerates, and pulls ladies 10x better than the Camaro.

Then I would have to change out the center console setup, lol. I'm already heavily invested in a 1976 step-side Ford restoration and I don't have the time for it. If the insurance wouldn't completely rape my wallet, I would find a c5 zo6. I found a few c5's for a great price and the insurance wouldn't know about any STS turbos later on, lol.

no. the 330 xi is the all wheel drive. C is the coupe or convertible designation. And there are no more 330's made. 3 litre engine is now the "328" and the twin turbo 3 litre is the 335.

About what I expected, really. From a roll the turbo car pulled for a bit but then the all wheel drive turned against it and the Camaro started to pull. From a dig it would be interesting to see. I think the 335 would take him to 60 and once the Chevy got its revvs up it would seriously start to pull HARD. Still a good race though.

German engineering is top in the world. Porsche, audi, mercedes, they are all well ahead of american companies when it comes to quality and refinement. well my only explanation is this, If you watch the video carefully at the end of every race the camaro starts pulling on the bmw but the camaro guy lets off.
When they ran the quarter mile, the camaro was not carrying an extra passenger whom seems to weigh 180lbs - 200lbs atleast.
IF the Passenger was in the bmw, the Camaro would have pulled a little bit faster on the bmw.

I like both cars (the bmw and camaro but both stock the camaro all day.) Also read where the camaro started in 2nd gear. yes i understand that the bigger the engine that most of the time more hp but... its not due to the pistons.. thats all im saying. A lot goes into hp ratings.. A 305 v8 is pussy compared to a v-tech 4cy honda.... But a 350(only 45 more cubic inches) murders any 4 banger.... Same amount of cylinders but the 350 has capibility of hp way beyond a 305 v8.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The DZ302 from a '69 Z28 Camaro when blueprinted will make well over 400hp as well as being able to rev to 7000+ RPM. As far as a "vtech 4cy honda", (proper abbreviation is VTEC, stands for Variable valve Timing Electronic lift Control) it will have a hard time keeping up with anything unless it is a B or K series that has been modified/tuned. So stop polluting the internet with car knowledge you learn from your dumbass friends/family members.

What does "Dinan" mean? Does that mean like an entire S1 kit, or just some aluminum pedals? I see "Dinan" and "oil" in your description. Does that mean Dinan oil cooler? If so, that does nothing except keep the engine from overheating like some early build N54 engines have been doing. Doesn't help performance, car is still basically stock if that's the case.
