what I'm wondering is if I have to replace my disc drive...would I still be able to play my PS2 games. I suppose PS2 games are read and emulated with the Emotion Engine inside? all I know is I have a 60gb and I ain't giving it up for shit.

@Makurou yeah you should be ablt to...you must I repeat MUST get the corretn blu-ray drive though...Research it...but by the sound of things you need a KES-400 blu ray laser.

Hi man, have you tried to update your O.S.? Try it first. Is everything else working? Internet access, wav CDs, mp3s, USB?

update os? operating system? no i dont have any os installed. yes internet work, usb ect.... and dvd movie work but now it dont work. now all disc dont work.

any idea?

jus a FYI, all computers are supposed to have an OS to operate. PS3 isn't different. So, if the driver stop reading, it is likely to be the blu-ray driver. The laser power has been fading and initially it stops reading Blu-Ray because it needs total power, then with a lower power it is ok for reading other medias. Now that it stops at all you should change your driver.

oh my! i thought u mean driver as in drive rlike in programs within pc... driver of video card ect... hahaha so it is the blu ray driver. aka the hardware.

haha, yh i just figured that out, i just replaced my 60GB PS3 laser with a brand spanking new KEM-400AAA, only took me like 30 minutes.

once you have taken that screw out, you have to the ps3 top case back, also i think you need a phillips size 0 to take it apart
