The first mission you had in the Russian campaign is the most iconic mission of call of duty hands down. Having only 5 bullets in your pocket but no weapon and still forced to go at the enemy. Man that's deep. You don't get shit like that in today's call of duty.
So went to church today, and we started to sing "thy strong word" and all of a sudden I got chills down my back and i was like "Where have i heard this before?!!" then i saw a soldier running uphill into a hail of bullets bearing a red flag...
I liked the old Call of duty titles, but its good they moved away from WW2. Saying WW2 Shooters are overdone is overdone in itself. Pretty much every Scenario has been done to death. Today, we have semi-realistic Boredom all around but at least some of the Scenarios where done less then ten times already.
Now I think Modern Warfare is alright but Call of Duty 1 shitkicks it to hell. Charging Red Square is one of the greatests moments I've seen in a video game and this music makes it even more epic as if it needed to be more epic.

The modern warfare games broke what I considered the holy tenet of CoD - that victory is achieved not by the effort of the few, but the sacrifice of the many (something like that is said in the intro movie of COD1 too). In MW and MW2 it's all about a group of less than 10 people saving the world twice.
I mean in the WWII Games the Weapons were of a wider range, not just full and or semi auto guns and sniper rifles. And killing Terrorist isnt as fun as shooting Grunts of a contanental Empire.........

The vehicles in multiplayer didn't fit at all, the graphics seemed to take a nosedive (I recall the Lee Enfield actually glowing), the driving missions were ill-implemented, the story mostly sucked, and the gameplay was somewhat bastardized. And besides, they also made The Big Red 1, and even though it was after WaW, they also made Black Ops, which I see as the final nail in CoD's coffin.
@Csp499 Modern Warfare 2 was the biggest shit that anyone took on video games. Well that was an exaggeration but MW2 killed COD for me. COD4 was the best then IW took a shit on the series with MW2.

The Soviets were the worst of the nations involved in the war. Stalin murdered more of his people in the 30s than Hitler killed during the Holocaust. When the Red Army pushed through the Eastern Front they butchered any German they found, no matter if they were a soldier or civilian and after the war they blocked all relief supplies to the Germans in Berlin. The only reason the U.S. supported them is because they were the enemies of the Axis, not because we were friends.

@Csp499 Modern Warfare 2 was the biggest shit that anyone took on video games. Well that was an exaggeration but MW2 killed COD for me. COD4 was the best then IW took a shit on the series with MW2.

in my opinion CoD 1/2 and CoD 5 world at war are the best.
1 and 2 because they are classic.
CoD 5 WaW because of the brilliant storyline of the Russian campaign between Reznov and Dimitri.

@8798000 Well I am not entirely sure how you can call a country that censors almost any mention of its past, no longer possesses Prussia and doesn't even comprise what would've been considered Klein Deutschland "the Fatherland".
As for "picking on Germany"... you just look up the days of Welt Politik, the Kaiser had European diplomacy at his fingertips, had he renewed his alliance with Russia and not antagonised Great Britain, France would have remained isolated and Germany's position secure.

All respect for the Russian people. They have suffered and endured unimaginable hardship. @8798000 I am not familiar with the situation the russians are in ATM, so I cant comment on that.
I can, however, say that Germany currently has roughly 4.000.000 unemployed with that figure rising and a massive debt which is slowly but surely ruining the whole country. To say a country thrives under capitalism is a very uneducated statement - a system built on endless growth isnt going to work because endless growth is impossible.

The Soviets were the worst of the nations involved in the war. Stalin murdered more of his people in the 30s than Hitler killed during the Holocaust. When the Red Army pushed through the Eastern Front they butchered any German they found, no matter if they were a soldier or civilian and after the war they blocked all relief supplies to the Germans in Berlin. The only reason the U.S. supported them is because they were the enemies of the Axis, not because we were friends.

Many historians argue that if not for his leadership of the USSR (with all it's atrocities) would had fallen under the German onslaught. Mainly due to his very rapid industrialization of the Soviet Union. Also SU would loss the majority of its industry in 1941 if not his decision to migrate the factories inside the Soviet Union. Also no one said that he did give back the land he captured, but thats better than genocide with Hitler would have probably commit.

Ok Ukrainians, Armenians, Lituanians, etc. For the USSR, Stalin was in some ways the right man at the right moment, Hitler was a warmonger whose party had planned the elimination of millions of human beings based on racial supremacy, imho a much bigger threat to humanity than Stalinism. Besides Hitler had declared war on us, not Stalin.
