  • Thanks alot

  • @Mr2010gartman No problem at all.

  • Will this port replacement fix no sound on iphone 3g?

  • @Mr2010gartman The dock port assembly includes the loud speaker (ringer). If that is your issue, then yes, it should resolve the issue. If you are looking for the ear speaker, we also have these available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • When trying to charge my phone is goes from charging to not charging every few seconds will this fix it? Also sometimes my phone charges ok.

  • @Akyalex This does sound like an issue with the dock port assembly. Sometimes this connection can also become loose. Next time this happens, apply some pressure on the bottom of the phone, this will tell you if it is a connection issue. If it is, you can likely just follow this video and check the connections. If not, a replacement may be required.

  • i have a question. what would happen if i put it all back? would i have to restart it and loose all my apps and contacts?

  • @giklights No restarts necessary in most cases. Very rarely will you have to reset after a repair such as this, as the motherboard is not effected.

  • Hi there, I have an Iphone 3G that wouldn't charge or wouldn't show up in Itunes. So I replaced the dock connector assembly and it still has the same issue. I know the dock connector works because when the phone is off and you plug it in, it comes to life and functions but it still wont charge! The charge symbol also doesnt appear when it is plugged in so could it need a replacement battery?

    Regards,

  • @strIctlyUndergr0und That would be the next step, yes. Although it is rare that a faulty battery will not allow the charge to still run through the device. Normally you would be able to use the device while charging but if unplugged, the battery would instantly die. Still worth a shot though - otherwise it is more likely a connection issue (on the motherboard) or motherboard damage.

  • @strIctlyUndergr0und Connect the phone to itunes and restart the computer while it is connected and the phone is off. Kicks the phone into charging sometimes.

  • Hi

Thx for your quick reply! I will try to repair it I guess. Can u let me know the name of the parts that i need to replace? Also if possible or as a request can u do a quick video showing how to do that. Appreciate it.

    Thx

    Subscribing to u :)

  • @nhung8685 No problem at all. Basically you will only need to follow this video for about 1 minute, from there you can remove the ear speaker from the touch screen assembly and replace. The exact part is the iPhone Earpiece Speaker Replacement.

  • Hi RepairUniverse,

I have an iPhone 3GS with the phone speaker problem. So everytime I talk on the phone I have to put it on loudspeaker otherwise I can't hear the other person. I'm not sure what the problem is and if it's fixable by replacing a particular part? Pls help!!!

    Thx

  • @nhung8685 Hello,

Yes this is likely just an issue with the earpiece speaker. I would suggest replacing it and it should resolve the issue, assuming it is a faulty speaker. Just be sure when you install it, that the #3 connector is fully in place. It is a very simple repair and replacements can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • how do i put humpty dumpty back together again

  • @eitan1994 Simply reverse the video and all steps are shown. Very simple process on the 3G and 3GS.

  • @RepairsUniverse my home button isn't working and the ear speaker isn't working I checked the connectors twice but do you know which specific connectors to look at

  • @RepairsUniverse OK i got everything to work except the home button and the camera but i saw the ribbon for the camera inside is cut so that's useless can you tell me what i should do about the home button

  • @eitan1994 The home button flex is not really a flex cable connection. Take a look at the back of the screen assembly, behind the home button you will see the flex with 2 metal prongs. These need to contact the metal contacts (aligning them properly) on the flex cable near the #4 connector. As for the damaged flex for the camera, that is a very simple repair. Replacements are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • my ipod touch 4th gen will not turn on/take charge/hook up to laptop or reboot (does nothing) is the battery gone can it be replaced?? or is thier something else wrong with it . . (no sign of water damage)

  • @hippystabber Normally caused by motherboard damage (water usually). Any history to the device - recent repairs, etc? Very unlikely a battery will cause the issue, as the charger/sync will bypass the battery if it is faulty and still power on the device - but have seen a few occasions where a battery replacement has resolved the issue, but is unlikely.

  • @RepairsUniverse GGG that was super quick reply lol. . . its my lil cus's ipod and as far as i can see ders no water damage i checked the earphone jack for the white patch to be red and its still white. . so maybe its a possibility software issues?? tanks for your super quick reply and comment

  • @hippystabber No problem at all! It is possible to be software, but more leaning towards an issue with the motherboard. May try to do a factory reset on the device and see if it will charge/sync then. Hopefully that is all it needs.

  • @RepairsUniverse thanks mate but tried a factory restet and still no joy tried almost everything supoose il have to send it into a professinal . . . tanks for the help

  • @hippystabber Yes, you've tried all the obvious. No problem, hope its a cheap fix for you.

  • My iPhone's sleep button isn't working can I replace it by using this method of taking it apart?

  • @htjuice Yes you can. If the button is stuck, it is likely just in need of cleaning. We suggest Q-tips and a very small bit of alcohol, cleaning the button from the outside and the inside.

  • i slide in a sim, get asked for pin. enter. logged in. I get one single bar but no connection to any network. it just shows the single bar. do you think changing the dock can fix the problem?? I'm using an iPhone 3G. Thx.

  • @mrshitaake Changing the dock assembly will likely resolve the issue. Difficult to say though, many variables. However the antenna is likely the cause.

  • Hey i followed all the steps replacing the dock port but now when i make a call the other person cant hear me. Have I done something daft or more likely damaged the new dock somehow? Thanks.

  • @chapmaniac0601 Hmm, sounds like an issue with the mic. I would suggest taking it back apart and checking the part, check for any ripped cables, or bad connections. Good luck and let us know if nothing appears to be damaged.

  • can changing the antenna fix signal problems?

  • @bigkid167 In many occasions, yes. It would depend on the reason you are having the signal issue. However, if the antenna is faulty, or intermittently faulty, you will not have service.

  • Thank you guys i couldn't have done this with put this video ! FANTASTIC :D

  • @weally5 No problem at all! Glad the video helped!

  • is this dock port assembly replaisement changing wifi antenna also?

  • @giorgisad The antenna located on the assembly is not for the WiFi. This is separate but is available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • I have a bit of a problem...my outer case is damaged a bit and its made one of the screws get stuck inside and wont come out! any ideas?! :S

  • @ediblemoments You can use a screw extractor or drill the screw out. We also have the replacement cases at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • Just ordered my replacement Dock Part hopefully this resolve my issue :D

  • @Steam56 Great! Let us know if you have any issues.

  • I ordered the wrong part. I bought a iPhone 3GS charge port and I have a iPhone 3G. Can I use this newer part on my older phone??

  • @HigherIntentions can you use any parts from bmw e46 to bmw e90?

  • Remember they're labeled cable one, two, and free.

  • @ROCKSTREBERer They are very similar, nearly identical, but the 3GS has an extra flex cable coming from under the antenna.

  • Just take your time it will be ok

  • These are really good videos,.however if you think it is easy think again, the potential for disaster is endless. Screw heads stripping, cables breaking, parts not coming apart easily, these guys are professionals with a carefully prepared IPOD. If you have a £400 phone, don't cut corners or you will end up with a brick. I speak from experience having watched one of these, and subsequently trashing my IPOD which appeared to have been welded together unlike the ones in these videos

  • @blt2010uk Very good point, these are not extremely simple. Following the guide closely and taking your time is key. Issues like stripped screws can be common if not using the correct size driver, so be sure you have all the parts and tools required. Work slowly and carefully. RepairsUniverse (dot) com does offer many replacement cables and parts in the case that a mistake is made. All steps are shown in our videos, so be sure to follow them thoroughly.

  • @repairsuniverse : if this part is broken then all features dont work? or is it possible that only the speaker, microphone and antenna dont work but the dock connector does work?

  • @AaliasAwesome These are all separate parts, so it is very possible that could happen. Many times only the speaker is damaged but the rest of the assembly is fine. Replacing the dock assembly will resolve any issues with any of these faulty parts.

  • and the antena?

  • @TheRickeMovies The antenna is located on the back side of the port assembly.

  • is this same as 3GS?

  • @Ultimagicarus Yes, very similar.

  • @RepairsUniverse funny, i thought the right speaker of my 3gs is not working then i find out that it is a microphone. so no need to open my 3gs. thanks anyway.

  • @Ultimagicarus you mean free g s

  • @RepairsUniverse I checked out the video, and I did the same thing with the adhesive strips for the 3GS and would the adhesive go on the glass first of the plastic frame? Mine happens to separate the digitizer from the frame , not sure why?

  • @ibarravictor00 Yes the adhesive will hold the digitizer onto the mid frame. It will separate otherwise.

  • @RepairsUniverse thank you I ordered a digitizer already hopefully that'll fix it all the connections seem to look fine is their a certain way to apply the adhesive to the digitizer and the frame cause mine seems to lift up the digitizer at times?

  • @ibarravictor00 Check out our new video - Touch Screen Assembly Guide - for more info about applying adhesive properly. Let us know if you have any other issues!

  • I did this to my 3GS and put in a new digitizer but the bottom part of the screen doesent touch? My space button won't work or search. Any ideas why? Will I need to get a new digitizer?

  • @ibarravictor00 Does sound like the digitizer is either damaged or has a bad connection. I would double check the connection and check for damages to the flex cable. If the cable seems OK, replacing the digitizer may resolve the issue. Hope this helps and good luck with your repair!

  • Great video! I had a problem with low speaker volume when receiving calls. I could not hear person calling me. Replaced dock/speaker/mic. Mic does not work on new one. Put old one back on and mic still does not work. Any suggestions.

  • @darkerpixiers Hi, if you can't hear the person then this is down to the earpiece speaker. You replaced the loud speakers. You can find the earpiece speaker replacements at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • @RepairsUniverse Thanks I did get a earpiece speaker as well but that looked like to much hard work :) I replaced dock because speaker was muffled only problem now is mic does not work. Thought it might be faulty so put old one back in and that does not work either. Was wondering if any of the ribbon cables control this.

  • @darkerpixiers Yes the main flex cable should control this. There may be another issue if both mic's don't work. Inspect the part again and make sure the connection is fully in place. Can't think of many other issues that will cause the mic to not respond. Hope this helps

  • OK so i had fallen on my iphone and after wards my screen, and lcd were busted i got them fixed and then i realized that my phone never had service so i figured i broke my antenna.. so i bought the dock assembly with the antenna strip i replaced it myself i connected everything where it was supposed to be but i still don't get reception!!.. is there anything else that would be causing this? i also realized sometimes when i make a call a little red light would go on any advice???

  • does this same with ipod touch 3g?

  • @Evaporator5 No the iPod Touch is different from the iPhone.

  • @RepairsUniverse OK so i had fallen on my iphone and after wards my screen, and lcd were busted i got them fixed and then i realized that my phone never had service so i figured i broke my antenna.. so i bought the dock assembly with the antenna strip i replaced it myself i connected everything where it was supposed to be but i still don't get reception!!.. is there anything else that would be causing this? i also realized sometimes when i make a call a little red light would go on any advice?

  • @usabulldog1108 Most likely issue is a problem with one of the connections from the antenna. This is common and an easy fix. Just double check your connections. If this is not the case, there may be other issues that may take a bit more time and effort to diagnose. Hope this helps! Good luck!

  • I have iphone 3gs for year and a half. about a month ago it started to loose the network and in the up left corner of the screen it says searching ... then no service. Sometimes the problem fixes by itself. I restored it to the original firmware, restored it as a new phone but the problem wasnt fixed. Sometimes the restore would fix the problem for a day or two. So do u have any idea if its a hardware problem or maybe the baseband does it .. btw its updated to the original newest baseband. tnx

  • @glavunja Your antenna sounds like it could be faulty. Try the replacement dock port assembly part we have at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. This should fix your issue.

  • @RepairsUniverse

is the disassembly procedure of the iphone 3G the same for the Iphone 3GS? i have the same problem posted by glavunja. Tnx

  • sigh i dont know what i did wrong, i put everything back together after installing the new port but now the screen doesnt go on. the iphone is still on apparently, because hitting the mute button makes it vibrate, and the docking port is attached correctly because when i connect it to my computer the phone is recognized. please help :( i have put everything back where its supposed to go!

  • @DracoC47 Sounds like a bad connection, I would double check the display connections and then reboot.

  • @DracoC47 ok. i took everything apart and put it back together and it powered on (took quite a while though for some reason)

and unfortunately i broke the ribbon cable 3 (the cable itself not the FPC connector).. DOH! but hey the original fix worked!

  • hey great vid wonder can you help me? there is no sound coming from my iphone no music nothing , but when i put my ear phones i can hear my music same when i put it into my docking station ?

  • @hirehere Yes. Your speakers are damaged. You need the replacement dock assembly with speakers from the RepairsUniverse (dot) com website and this will fix your issue.

  • @RepairsUniverse hey great vid! My 3g fell to the ground, and the loudspeakers are actually not sounding like before, sounds "dirty", I dunno how to explain, it just sounds somehow off. Do u think it can be fixed by maybe opening it and cleaning/checking it, of do u recommend purchasing the dock rplmnt assembly? I checked out or site, pretty cool! Thanks for the help

  • @davudr99 Thanks! Its pretty rare for the loud speaker to become faulty from just dust and dirt, but pop your 3G open and check it out, if it seems like a connection was broken, then order a new dock assembly and you should be good to go! Good luck!

  • dose this fix the wi-fi antenna ??

and do u have a vid to put it all becauce together ????

  • @supernigger26 No, the wifi antenna is a separate part which you can find at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. To put back together simply reverse the take apart guide.

  • after i successfully did this i i had my phone working then connected it to itunes, now it won't turn on and i tried the hold down home and power for 10 seconds and it didnt work, any help

  • @csh1n08 Check the connections. It sounds like something has not been connected correctly. This should get you up and running again

  • sorrry for the bad comment opened up my phone and saw that cable 4 came off (must of have happened when i was puttin the screen on) i put it back and WOW i have my sound back THANKS SO MUCH (for real this time not bein sarcastic)

  • my iphone doesn't make any sounds (no ringtone musci or game noise) will this part solve my broken speaker

  • @csh1n08 Simply reverse this take apart guide.

  • hey man had a lot of problems with my iphone recently. I used your video to take apart my 3GS because it wasn't charging and the home button wasn't working.fixed it myself put it back together and it charges, the home button works but now the antenna is shot now so back in I go. do you have any idea if the antenna is any different on the 3GS then on the 3G model?

  • @lblviper215 Hi, glad you fixed your issue.

Yes, the antenna is different on the 3G and 3GS,

  • @RepairsUniverse Hey man once again used your guide found out about the antenna for the 3GS and got it fixed. Everything is working now. The only problem I have with it is that the switch that toggles silent and sound on the left side on the top, for some reason silent goes on halfway. If I push the switch halfway down thats when its on silent. so I cant keep my phone on silent basically. Once I figure out how to fix this switch ill take it apart again, but thanks so far you saved me some money

  • @lblviper215 No problem. Glad we could help!

  • Thx, this video saved me some coin.

  • @defgenre Thats great to hear! Glad we could help!

  • @Gangsta4Life254 Glad we can help you with your repair.

  • @RepairsUniverse thanxz idk what happened to my right speaker but it doesn't work anymore...

  • @Gangsta4Life254 Its quite a common issue for one of the speakers to stop working. The replacements at RepairsUniverse (dot) com will fix this.

  • Will this fix the home button too?

  • ..as been shown here in the video.... :D

  • interesting...i wanted to know about the mic, speaker and antenna like it says in the title yet nothing is mentioned about that at all

  • @TheJakub345 Its all part of the dock. They are all assembled on that one piece as shown in the video. You can find the dock assembly with speaker, mic antenna etc at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • Is there anything i can use instead of the opening tool ?

  • @SuccessBlogFilms We recommend using the pry tools as otherwise you can cause damage to the phone. You can find these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • @SuccessBlogFilms a suction cup (gps for example) is works great as well. Careful not to break the connectors, they're at the top end

  • There is 1 little metal part with a hole on it that i left out, i don't know where it goes back, can any1 help.??

  • Help! For some reason, when I make a call or pick up a call, the person on the other side can't hear me, but I can hear them perfectly! Is it broken or can it be fixed without buying the part?

  • @SnowFenrir09 Sounds like your mic is broken. You will need a replacement mic which is part of the dock port assembly replacement.

You can find this part at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • @SnowFenrir09

i got similar problem, only when they don't hear me, i tap te mic area, and then sometimes the mic works again

iam too scared to open up my iphone 3gs. :(

  • hey where can i buy the loud speaker for my iphone 3

  • @thegera458 This is part of the dock port assembly. You can find these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • Hello there, I have blown out my speaker(bottom left) and i disassemble my iphone to find out that this video does not show how to fix the speaker. I took off the dock compartment as showed in the video, but now i need to replace the blown out speaker at the bottom right of thi peice. I already have the needed peice to fix the speaker feature but i do not know how to fix this part. Help please? Thank you very much if you can get to it.

  • @LilTazzyBoy2 Easiest thing is to purchase the full dock assembly like the dock assembly shown in the video from RepairsUniverse (dot) com . It is then a straight quick and easy swap.

  • tengo un iphone 3g y cambiando la carcasa tactil se me daño el conector 3 es decir donde entra el que esta en la placa del iphone por lo tanto cada vez que la introduzco se sale el conector que puedo hacer en ese caso

  • hi i have an iphone 3g my iphone fell into water and after the back lights didnt work any more after a week i went to a shop to fix it when it fix the iphone speakers doesnt work any more and it says charging is notsupported with this accessory how can i fix this and the battrey is life is going down when i send a message or use someting else pls man help

  • I am able to make and receive calls normally whenever I disable the 3g network and connect to the edge network. Whenever I enable the 3g network my phone will pick-up as many as 5 bars on 3g but I am receiving several 'call failed' errors when I place calls and incoming calls are sent directly to voicemail. I am also unable to send text messages. Do you think replacing the dock/charging/antenna port would fix this?

  • Hi, my iphone 3gs works normal. Only issue is my speakers for the music isn't as loud as when I first bought the phone. And recently my vibrate stopped work. Would it all be part of the dock? The vibrate replacement and the loud speakers. My phone speakers work when on a call as well as when listening to music. Only issue is not as loud for music as when I bought it and doesn't vibrate at all.

  • You may need a new vibrator module. As it looks like yours is broken.

The speakers may also be on the way out. To replace these purchase a new dock port assembly and this should resolve this issue.

Both parts are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • when i place a call on my 3g cannot be heard on the other end. Do i need to replace the dockport assembly or just the microphone?

  • @wadmanjr Hi,

You need to replace the microphone however the microphone is soldered to the dock assembly so the easiest thing to do is replace the whole dock assembly.

You can find these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • @RepairsUniverse Is the antenna also soldered to the dock assembly?

  • @wardmevis Yes, the antenna is part of the dock assemblies we sell.

  • @RepairsUniverse Thank you for your expertise. Your part arrived as advertised and my iphone works beautifully again. I saved alot of cash and I'm telling all my friends about you. Thanks again.

  • HELP MY IPHONE 3G WONT TURN ON I TOOK IT TO AT&T And the guy said the dock has water damage and so other parts I need help

  • @Turtwig07 We have the dock port replacements at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • The top button of mine fell off and the plastic around it is breaking, and now the plastic bottom is splitting from the glass all the way around.

It's been working fine but now I have no service. If I opened it up would I be able to fix it? And does that void the warrantee?

  • @omgtarr The antenna maybe damaged. A replacement from RepairsUniverse (dot) com should get you up and running again.

  • Is that gives the iphone signal from my at&t service

  • @mynameisleo831 Yes, the antenna part is what does the signal.

  • ok can i do this for the 3gs? and all the iphone ipod touch devices?

  • @biggadicrecords Its the same for the iphone 3gs. The iPod touch's are different however.

  • thanks alot i am gunu get won tonight and i have another issue how do i replace a batterry and do yall sell thoes

  • @coolkid1439 Yes, we sell the replacement batteries also on the RepairsUniverse (dot) com web site. And we provide full instructions with the part. Its very easy to do at the same time as the dock.

  • when i charge my iphone 3g i have to wigle it around to get it to charge so do i need a new charger port

  • @coolkid1439 Sounds like the dock is damaged. A replacement from the RepairsUniverse (dot) com web site should get you running as normal again.

  • I bought the battery from you guys and replace it. Now i could take it of the charger but it still won't charge right so I'm guessing it the dock port I have to replace now. I have another ?. The Phone work when it off the charger but when I make a phone call or when I'm on a apps for a couple of minutes it turn off and on could that be the dock port problem too or something else.

  • @brispapi03 Hi,

Sounds like the charge isn't getting through to the battery. If this is the case then you are correct and the dock port is faulty. This would also be why the phone turns off once off the charger .

  • Can you make a video of reassembling iphone after replacing the dock ? Thanks

  • @anildgl The reassemble is straight forward, its just a case of reversing the steps in this video.

  • my iphone 3g has the "no service" in the top left corner, i cant get it fixed, i bought it off of ebay with a broken screen and i replaced it, now it has a no signal, if i replace the antenna ribbon could that fix my problem?

  • @tacodude20 Yes, by installing a replacement dock port assembly you will replace the antenna which should fix your signal issue. You can find this complete assembly at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • @RepairsUniverse thanks for the fast response and great video keep it up!

  • @tacodude20 Glad we could help.

  • ohhhh grerat video. help me so much i all ready fix my iphone with $8.00 when ATT wants me to ppay them $200.00 and give my phone back.

  • @jobonwo Great news. Glad we could help.

  • Hi. I got a ? my iphone 3gs fell in the pool and I took it out and put in a bag of rice to let it dry out for 4 day. I took it out and put it to charge the phone is charge and it turn on and it works, but the problem is that when i take off the charger it turns off. Could it be the battery or something else.

  • @brispapi03 Could be the battery, could also be the dock port is damaged and not getting the charge to the battery.
