Yes, Dan Blocker was an investor. Sadly he passed on. Things went downhill from there. There was a Bonanza restarauant locally by me. It was extremely popular. My parents took me there a few times as a child. The food was good and it was always crowded. Ponderosa took over and all those restaurants closed down. The former restaraunt building near me is now used as a run-down auto garage.
Yep on those rare occasions when my Dad wanted to take the whole family out to dinner, We always went to Bonanza, We thought we hit the big time.. I always got fish since i wasn't too into steak.
Our Bonanza had a woven wood rail fence seperating the order line and a row of tables. My older sister stuck her arm between the boards and made a lady who was sitting at a table scream. Good times !
i used to love bonanza when i was little. i remember the little plastic flags they stuck in your steak, and the curly parsley they put on your plates.....
I used to work at a Bonanza. It was awesome. We never had to report our tips. I guess that's part of the reason it shut down suddenly and when we tried to cash our last checks they bounced.
The Bonanzas in Nashville all became Ponderosa Steakhouses, which were terrible. The last Bonanza I ever saw was in Martin, TN, and I ate there in 1995. I think there are only one or two Ponderosas left in Nashville, but they've sunk to the level of a third or fourth-rate Ryan's or Golden Corral.
I loved Bonanza also! I wonder if my tastes have changed or if I go back has Bonanza changed? Maybe I still love it?! Used to like Sizzler a lot also! I guess I had a fetish for a cheap T bone steak and a salad bar with very rich ranch and blue cheese dresing! Funny how they picked two very skinny actors to promo such a gluttonous place! LOL!
The voiceover on this is by the CBS staff announcer who worked on "The Carol Burnett Show", "Cher" and on CBS network promos in the 1970s. Can't recall his name, but he appeared in some Carol Burnett sketches (including as Pops in "When My Baby Laughs At Me", with Rock Hudson and Nancy Walker).
Absolutely loved Bonanza when they were here. They don't have them anymore around the Dallas/Ft Worth area.

good idea for an ad...have the skinniest, most underfed looking celebrities advertise an all you can eat buffet.

Handsome Harold serving up the steak at 0:16 is enough to turn you off Bonanza for life.

I ate at this Bonanza for my 16th birthday; it was a good restaurant back then. And, the one in Gulfport was one of the best.

It should be Lorne Greene, Michael Landon, or someone else from Bonanza to sponsor Bonanza!

Actually, I think Dan Blocker was one of the original investors in Bonanza.

Used to eat at Bonanza often as a kid, then they closed down in our area. Found one operating still in IL in 2003, brought back good memories.

Hoss from Bonanza started this steakhouse chain. Haven't seen one in years. Sambos restaurants also come to mind when remembering this era.
