It always takes time for a band to get better after new directors. Juniors and Seniors, I know you feel a little cheated of the reviews and tournaments you could have won under a different director, but you have to stop complaining and make the band better. Fresh and sophs, with G and A, you guys have a chance to get really good, so don't worry and work hard.
and think about what you guys do as students before you blame the directors for their shortcomings. It always goes both ways.
Really now, I don't want to be mean, but Freshmen and Sophomores don't really have a chance to be great unless they get their act together and stop fooling around at rehearsals.
I'll admit I did blame Mr.G and Mr.A at first, but now I just blame myself and the other students, only thing I hold Mr.G and Mr.A account for is not pushing us hard enough.
Thats true, but when Lorenzen came in 02, the band stayed good, probably even better, and look now, in just 1 year, he made Murrieta Valley number in 5A in California, and they beat some of the top 6A bands too
I have to agree with baseball junker and everyone else who replied to him, even though I'm just a soph, I was looking forward to having a great band like we did in 2005. I'm very disappointed with us :[,. and whats more is that I'm kind of embarrassed. I do think that this year, '08 was better than last year...so I think we're slowly coming back up :[.
Yes they need to be a thousand times more stricter...seriously..:[
LOL yeah I realized this since some time back in freshmen year =P. I realized alot of problems with the band back in freshman year ._.;. HAHAHA yes we should tell them that =).
=P who are you anyways?
and omfg today was awful ._.;. Frikken eighth graders, I introduced myself to them when they were eating and they ran away from me...-_-;
I was one of the trumpet section leaders that year and the next...this video brings back a lot of memories both good and bad (good = I'm pretty sure this was the year we beat El Dorado on the street; bad = not everyone was into doing this ^^)...i'm just VERY disappointed w/ what's going on now and seeing our work not carry over to the next classes...
i know what u mean. I went to el rancho and this was my last arcadia. Our director went on to bigger and better things and after my class graduated the band has just been going down hill. Nothing was passed on and older members continued to quit as new (not too good) directors took over, so all thats left are a bunch of freshmen =( But the 05' season was by far our best.
Man, shut up, do something about it then you idiot... -.-, all you do is complain, its annoying, no one likes it, and its disrespectful to talk crap about the directors, unless you can do better, SHUT THE FUCK UP!
If your grades aren't good, then talk to Gunderson and Acciani, they're lenient, unlike Lorenzen, they care about your grades, get your parents to write a note to excuse you from a rehearsal so you can work on your school stuff, and if you were doing your correctly you wouldn't be talking crap about the band!
It is sad isn't it? I was pretty disappointed that the band wasn't as good as everyone said it was when I got there in 07. I think the directors just aren't strict enough now.
uhg I know right?? he had to go and cut out that woodwind piece of carmen this year instead of pushing us to finish the whole thing they planned for us.
are you stupid?! parade is NOT easier. parade band is just as difficult. you have to be more detailed with the music and phrasing and the marching has to be flawless to be in the top 5 parade bands at arcadia.
To be honest, some people prefer Parade Band than Marching, it might be longer than Marching Band, but it's pretty easy, its just marching blocks down a long path, lol....:]
Wow Diamond Bar. I grew up there. But in those days, there wasn't a high school. After Lorbeer (damn forgot the spelling to MY old Jr High), you had to go to Pomona for High School. Then we moved..... I wonder what it's like there now..... It's only been about 30 years.
R.I.P Mr.Lorenzen

the trio sounded really nice but the breakstrain and the begging of the grand e. could use some work

baseballjunker, don't rag on a band you're not even in anymore.
they're getting better. Don't diss when you're not a part of the process.
the end.
ajjlrocks 3 years ago 12
I'll be honest, the band isn't really getting better, only the parade band is, other than that, they're not really improving
