  • In a world that can't produce enough food to feed it's population, growing corn to produce fuel for our cars doesn't sound like a good idea.

  • Thatfatboiforu... I own an STi and you can NOT put more power to the front wheels. You can split the torque from 50/50 to 60/40 and in between but at the most 60% to the rear wheels. 90% of people who own an STi leave the setting in auto mode where the car is constantly sensing which tires have traction and put the power to those wheels. I'm sure that's what ken block sets his car to, or 50/50 which locks the center diff.

  • every time i try do do that with my cobalt LT its a fail

  • @mandymaize you own a cobalt= fail!

  • @thelustyjusty dont hate on chevy you hater

  • @TheVeneth The Ford Model T ran on ethanol... before many countries even had cars. Don't be so quick to judge!

  • @wingfeathers00 Yeah yeah.. applies to who? Not me! I am Czech and we have second oldest car manufacturer in the world Tatra.. And certainly ethanol or rather alcohol based engines originate from Austro/Hungarian Empire that we were part of at the time.. And the reason? We didnt have any colonies (it sounds like we were not capable to have any, not meant like that-we didnt want them) Then jewosh oil that was cheeeappper xD The rest of the story everyone knows! sorry!

  • hes such a good driver i wish subaru would have ceped doing the wrc and he would still be on the subaru team but on subaru quite so now hes on the ford team

  • so all that "tire smoke" was actually just the veggy oil lol

  • Ken Block's videos are great!!

  • you know, using corn as a fuel is... no where near as good for the environment as we make it out to be. Uses up more energy to make than gasoline and you need more of it to get the same power out of the engine. Then when you take into consideration the ethics of using a food as fuel and the global position and abuse of the commons, it really isn't the right answer imho.

  • parts of south america are all ready mostly E85 since the 70's oil embargo

    its cheaper than gas

it runs cooler and has better knock protection than gas

but you need bigger injectors and better delivery and a bigger tank to go the distance

green is just a buzz word

independant economy and no more reliance on foreign oil should be our direction in america

  • you get more power with meth, not as much power per "drop" so to speak so it isnt exactly green because you need to use more of it to get the power

  • fuck nitro meth dude

  • E85 brings a bigger bang than usual 95/98 octane. But it takes more E85 to cover the same distance as 10l 95/98. But if you're serious... Notromethane...

  • @TheGrim666 The problem I've heard with Nitrometh is that its not real easy to come by depending on where you live. E85 is a good idea, the problem is like you said, it takes more to cover the same distance. In street cars it means worse mileage and more fillups. until they can come out with the motor that can top and tie regular fuel, I'll stick with regular fuel.

  • @supaphreak2045 E85 is Awesome if you want to make big power without having to pay for expensive Race Gas or have to worry about storing a 55 gallon drum at your house. If you are looking for gas mileage then look elsewhere, but for the added performance and how clean it keeps the engine, I'll stick with my E85!

  • @04sleeper it all depends on what you're looking for really, every fuel has its good points and its downfalls.

  • You seem to be the retard. They're all saying BC shoes because they're making fun of the guy in the video who called them BC shoes...

  • i bought a pair of bc shoes from the asian flee market lol

  • lmao.

  • BC shoes ftw!!!

  • BC kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • he did.. he said BC -.- omg that poor..

  • 00:47 ken block`s old car :D

  • Bc lol, its DC!

  • The Australian V8 supercar series moved to E85 at the start of the year.

  • he said bc shoes?

  • stuff is jungle juice for forced induction engines

  • e85 rules, look for lotus exige ethanol 5th gear

  • Dumped EJ6: See a piece in Hot Rod Magazine online involving E85 test sessions with Pro Mod driver Harold Martin and his dyno.

  • E85 is awesome stuff if the car is tuned properly for it. You actually have a lesser chance of detonation with it. Downsides are that it burns more fuel, but it burns the fuel more efficiently. I can't wait to build a race car and have access to E85.

  • E85 is good man!! my brother used it in his 450r until we found that VP is so much better, but damn is it expensive.. E85 has to be good cause it is made from corn and so is alcahol.. so yeah. You should try what Big Black did in his Pinto see how that works for ya,haha

  • Less power, worse mileage, costs more to run. The only thing green is it apparently burns cleaner. Too bad it won't keep people's wallets green too.

  • are you fuckin' high?! more fuel more power, simple. more fuel, more air and BAM more power!

it's big in sweden, I fill up mine with 50% E85 and 50% 98 gasoline!

  • I dunno if you read my original post correctly. How much does it cost you to fill up your tank? Im not saying you can't get power out of it. It just seems you need to use a lot more fuel to get power. Filling up on 87 gas is probably a lot cheaper than E85 and 98. I don't have a super car so I won't really notice a difference in power either, my wallet will just stay full longer and so will my tank, SIMPLE.

  • your a fuckin nerd !

  • not too sure where your getting your info from but e85 is equal to 100-105 octane...

  • E85l is as well made from American raised corn, thus funding our economy, which is probably the best thing about it.

But yah E85 is kind of a joke.

  • funny thing is, here ethanol is 89 octane, and regular gas is 86, and they cost the same, so it doesn't cost more at all, and it DOES burn cleaner, and if anything gives more power, aswell as cleans your engine a bit

  • Well unfortunately there are only like 5 places to fill up with E85 in Canada.

  • but you know they don't run rally cars on pump gas.

  • british petrol(gas) is 95 octane and you can get 98 at most places

  • we dont talk about octane , but about 85% of ethanol with 25 % of gas, and if you have 95 or 98 octane, it was because you are much higher over the sea than other

  • No, its 95RON and 98RON, not octane. Do the conversion, their octane levels are the same as ours.

  • You mean more power, as long as you have the fuel system to support it. The octane rating of Ethanol is higher than most other pump gas which lets you run more boost/timing/compression

  • I run E-85 in my EVO at 30 PSI all day long

    E-85 > 91 anyday!!

  • im getting a wrx sti when i can drive

  • I'm sure Subaru has one ready and waiting for you. At a deal in this economy!!

  • hey does the stock impreza not the WRX or STi come with AWD

  • Check the website. I'm not here to promote Subaru. But the site indicates it is available but I'm not sure if it's standard on all of them.

  • ALL subaru's, WRX STI FORESTER OUTBACK are AWD, all time, no 4x4 no FWD or RWD, symmetrical AWD and its glorious (i've owned a wrx and now an STI both modded and unstoppable in the snow)

  • @ViperVenomACR Every Subaru ever made is all wheel drive. Every single one.

  • @ViperVenomACR Lawl of course it does

  • @ViperVenomACR pretty much all Subarus are AWD.

  • @ViperVenomACR

    All subarus are AWD ....

Execpt an old model made 93

  • @ViperVenomACR I believe All Subaru's do, but Yes I know the base Impreza does.

  • @ViperVenomACR all subarus come in awd, its what makes em so sick

  • @ViperVenomACR All Subarus are AWD

  • @ViperVenomACR All of the imprezas have AWD.

  • @ViperVenomACR after the 90's you cant find any Subaru that doesn't come with standard AWD. The STI's do have a customizable center differential that you can use to put more power to the front or back. Thats how Ken does the drifting.

  • @ViperVenomACR all subaru's, you moron, have AWD, thats what there known for.

  • @ViperVenomACR all Subarus are "all wheel drive" standard

  • @ViperVenomACR dude... It's a Subaru.. think... lol

  • @ViperVenomACR

i've got a subaru impreza diesel sport 2.0 and is AWD...i'm pretty sure also the other version...

  • one day i will buy a car like his

  • There are plenty of fast E85 cars out there (8.75@16x MPH in AWDMotorsprts evo) plus it is cheap, even with the 40% increase required for the same power, and the 104 effective octane rating. The only problem I have with it is the methods being used to make it, and what the base material is for it (corn, rather than sugar cane or switchgrass). I'll be using E85 in my drag car, along with 3 Bosch 044 pumps in parallel running through a -12 feed line. Floor it, and watch the gauge drop...

  • if the car is tuned right, e85 make more power the gasoline.

  • BS! They did it because e85 has a lower intake temp, which allows you to run less timing and more boost safely on the engine. He did it for more safe horse power.

  • I remember hearing a story somewhere. This guy had a car tuned for E85 and went to a gas station where there's someone there to pump the gas for you. He said, Make sure it's E85. She asks why. He says, because that's I want in here. She says, and I quote, "You're making an awful big deal about what fuel I put in, it's not like it's gonna blow your motor or something". LOL

  • Sorry to ask such questions but to what extend will i be able to use ethanol on my car? What i mean is, must the car be fully modified then i can use ethanol? Can i use it on stock cars?

  • There are differences. Ethanol is an alcohol and alcohol reacts differently with gasoline, moisture and cold weather. The cold is especially important. You need about 15 percent gasoline so the vehicle will start easily in cold weather. That's why you have E85 or 85 percent ethanol.

Some who use alcohol in race engines worry about the corrosive possibilities especially with aluminum alloy heads or block.

  • whats gymkhana?

  • A different type of Autocross.

  • rally mixed with drifting

  • google it!

  • I run e85 on my holset HX35 97 tsi talon, and pump is such a joke if you want preformance. With E85 you can run lean as hell, haha a safe 12.0:1 a/f at 30psi and 19* of timing and no knock. And it is only 2 bucks a gallon in illinois, can't beat it.

  • make it hydrogen lol.... thatll keep the hippees cheering

  • Hydrogen may one day be an option but, for now, alcohol is a step away from the addiction to pure fossil fuel.

  • just an e85 conversion adds 60+ whp. thats why he did it

  • Thats why he used it over pump gas... but the option wasn't pump or E85, it was race gas or E85.

  • Not the sole reason but it contributed. It turns out that Ken has some green in him. He doesn't hug trees. He tries to avoid them during rallies!! It's not a black and white issue. You can have a green conscious and still love racing.

  • I'm going to have to disagree with that unless you are talking sub ethanol flashpoint (~50*) temperatures.

  • I'm not sure I understand. I was agreeing with you basically.

  • Yea, ethanol has a significantly higher octane than pump gas, but it also has a significantly lower energy density, so you use a lot more ethanol making the same power

  • When you use ethanol you use about 20% more fuel, but ethanol is way cleaner than gasoline and way cheaper. Here in Brazil we have cars that use both fuels (ethanol and gasoline), and it´s always cheaper use ethanol.

  • Actually its equally bad for the enviroment as gasoloine is. Although its true it has less emmisions from cars, the process to make it is absurddly dirty, and in the long run it ends up having the same impact on the enviroment as using gas.

  • xu9ja: agreed, E100 is much better for a car like that :)

  • Thats really tough on parts.. you still need reliability with the car so you need some of the lubricity of the 15% gasoline.

  • Not only is it tough on parts... but pure alcohol simply makes it tough to start the car. Research shows you need about 15 percent gasoline to just get the thing up and running.

  • Green Power. That should make all the tree huggers out there happy. :)

  • You have to be a tree hugger to have a green conscious? Don't think so...

  • i agree, i'm a petrol head but i consider the problem of energy very important, especially for cars...ethanol will be the only way to use today's engines when petrol run out (with little modifications of course)...the problem is that ethanol actually is expensive to produce and it release less energy than the energy he use to be produced but who care? it's clean and have 113 RON of octanes! green is convenient!

  • Well, it can be expensive to produce(like corn-ethanol) but there are other methods that will decrease the cost.

  • use E100
