Hydrogen isn't viable. The average fuel cell runs a million dollars. Current materials can't store the amount of hydrogen we need for the range we want in a car. Hydrogen is wildly expensive. There are not enough filling stations, you'll need like 25,000 stations before people consider it. Internal Combustion Engines and Hybrids get better at the same time. Hydrogen is a red herring, learn the facts!

The Honda Insight is very heavy from its electrical motor components. Weight upsets handling and performance. In order to counter the offset in handling, Honda must stiffen the suspension, making the ride harsh. Also, to counter the heavy weight, Honda removed a lot of the heavy plush comfortable for some light weight plastic parts.

I know there are people who find ANY reason to hate Honda, but man... that's like getting spanked in elementary school by an teacher (I know the feeling). The latest Audi S4 is a beautiful machine. LOVE those LED daytime running lights and its overall style. That Lightning GT reminds me of one of my all-time favorite cars- the Toyota 2000GT. Beautiful. Best of luck to Garage 419. THE BIGGEST problem with Honda Insight is it's petrol engine. It's a 1.3 liter. What would you expect from a 1.3 liter? It's too small, may be good in a town but on a highway, it'll be noisy little bastard and it won't be very economical either. 1.8 in Prius is much better.

The Audi S4 is a masterpiece. I knew that engine had a lot more potential, but perhaps messing up with the computer will kill its suberb smoothness? o.O

Nope. The power is there because Audi always takes to the conservative side when programming. The car is overall over engineered for itself in stock form and there is more potential yet.

Look back to the B5S4 and you will see similar gains from just "chip tuning", same thing MTM did. All this was done 10 years ago so I'm not surprised to see similar gains.

The SECOND BIGGEST problem is the lack of a manual transmission like the one offered 10 years ago. Maybe now they'd offer a 6-speed, and it would probably raise the ratings by 5-10 mpg. It would also improve acceleration.

Also, the new Insight's 2009 price is about the same price as the original's new MSRP in 2001 (~19k)--and back then you had to pay EXTRA for the automatic and A/C

An easy and cheap way for Honda to increase acceleration and fuel economy on the Insight is to offer a manual transmission, like they did on the previous Insight

Offering a manual transmission would probably cost about $1000 less than the CVT

They need to put a sunroof in the EX model

And also, they should offer a DX model with no AC, manual windows, black door handles, etc. Honda could probably sell a 6-speed DX for about $17000, based on the way Honda usually prices their models
