@frickaline His voice was quite bad during most of the Audioslave years. Smoking destroyed his upper range. His voice had a cool grit to it, but his range was effectively cut in half. After Audioslave broke up, he started practicing again, & stopped smoking. His voice now is far better than it was here. Nearly as good as it was during the last years of Soundgarden. Look up Black Rain live on Conan O'Brien's show to see what I mean.

he has volume without effort, he has a bottomless range, and a very deep head/chest voice, thats why he looks like hes dead in some concerts while still singing louder than the guitars

this is the first album, first concerts, this is the best he sounded during audioslave, this is shadow on the sun territory, this is where he ruined his voice, but this is where he sounded his best, the low tenor sounds great, nothing about it is flat, its just his tone, the only reason people think it sounds bad is because he sings at half the volume with the mic turned up in the studio for quality, actually listen who can scream that long while holding notes every song for hours,

because CC wanted to pursue his lifelong dream: pursuing a solo career. since the beginning, there are always been creative and personal differences between CC and the rest of the band.
