My daily driver is E46 328i and E30 325i weekends. 325i is more responsive with Signature Motoring performance (CAI) intake kit. Installed it myself in under half hour. HP increase on the 325i is about 9.5HP for a cost of $170 or around $19 per HP gain. Best 1st performance mod to do. Other application data:
wait the m20 filter is near the exhaust manifold? I was curious because on pelican parts.com and here It shows that other filter and my engine doesn't have it there. Also, is an M20 filter a basic spin on or something different? Like could I use a any old oil filter I have lying around is what I'm asking?
Tbanks a million for that video. I've never done anything other than change a bulb in a car before, but this morning having watched this I changed the oil in my car in 15 minutes saving myself a lot of money in labour. Thank you!
Terribly DIY video. Made on two different cars as well, one white, one green (which had no cooling fan??). This oil change is for M42 engines (NA market), not for the much more common M20 engine (325-e/es/i/is) over here. The M20 has a spin on can filter near the exhaust manifold side.
Nice video. You may want to pre-soak the oil filter prior to close the housing. This will prevent oil starvation upon startup.

Change yer oil and the E30 engine will last over 350,000 easy as pie!
Best performance upgrade for your money is the Signature Motoring performance cold air intake kites for these E30s. I have one in my 89 325is.
-Adds 9-11 HP
-Never replace filter again (K&N)
-GREAT SOUND
-Installs in maybe 30-45 min. K&N filter lasts a lifetime.
