This battle was a bitch, mainly because it just seemed to drag on and on with trying to get to the top. I'd leveled up my personnel well enough that the fighting wasn't too bad. It still was a bitch when my guys would miss, not attack twice, or dodge. I still yell at the screen when I play this and the first one. "Why didn't you DOOOOGGGGDDDDEEEE!" Lol. This and the first one are awesome games. I just wished they'd allowed you to bring more people to fight or use as reinforcements/replacements.
when u have completed this game if u wait after the credits for a few minutes a pandoras box (or something like that comes up) and allows u to have a final fight usin the bosses chk it out itll blow your mind.been ages since i played this,used to kno all the powerups lol

Hey I need help. Every time I egress it will send me back to Hassan, but the thing is I'm all the way in North Parmecia now and I still get sent to Hassan every time I egress. Why does it do that?
@TheFishSnacks it sends you back to the place where you last saved, or the first priest you see if like you go to a new continent, for example if you saved in Grans Island before you left the earthquake then you will appear in New Grans, and that will be your egress point until you save or get to another "can't go back" place. Hope this helps a little

@1oceanus to go to the mainland you went through the temple portal grounds right? (you saw claud there) so how you get back is easy just retrace your steps (go through the temple portal grounds in the opposite direction of which you came out of it or for the step by step guide go near village where you get may go into cave entrance south of there walk into the temple go to the top right/down stairs go stand on plaque walk across causeway go north stand on another plaque boom on west island

Pegasus wing is in the castle in the dried up desert, where you get frayja from. And theres 2 vigor balls..one in the secret fairy forest, and one right by where you get sheela(search the lone tree)

Very Good Video. I like it very much. SF2 is one of my favorite RGP classic Games. Mi favorite characters are Karna and Kazin =P But i like Kazin like a Sorcecer and Karna like a Mastermonk. I remenber in a moment she had Aura Lvl 4 my favorite Spell with Desoul obbiusly ^^
i reckon you would find this easier if you had a decent force. IMO jaro, luke and chester are too weak, and kiwi is probably the worst character out of all of them. Id be playing with gyan, jaha (promoted as baron), lemon and probably rhode. Zynk is quite handy too if you use running ring and a pimento on him. Kiwi dies whenever anyone casts a spell on him, jaro's defence is rubbish, chester's attack is quite weak, and so is lukes. Still, its possible to win this game with any kind of force
hey guys theres a secret forest after you get rhode and fallow the rocks to the left at the end of the rocks on the you will see a light green.go to the top of the green and you will fid a village and go on the left side of the edge and you go on the other side and find a chest and go to the right and you will get in a forest.fight in there and get youre men up to a levil 40 and promote them.and keep on fighting until you get 1 exp. then all youre men will be on question mark.

@vlodvek777 actually now the xbox/ps3 can do something as good, if not better, by including this game along with the first shining force on sonic's ultimate genesis collection. it turns out to be better than the original because the ugc version allows for instant saves like an emulator. if you don't like the outcome of a battle save before you make a move and now you can resort back to your last move if you make a mistake, a useful advantage over the original, I accept that upgrade.
@otame but some players would consider that cheating. Since you couldn't change your move once you made it, if you made a mistake or clicked something w/o thinking..... you got raped, haha. It was part of the challenge
I completed the game then re did it and pwned in this battle. It is incredible hard but if you have your guys leveled up really high its easy :)

Slade is one of the best characters in the game... Peter is one of the best characters in the game... Karna is one of the best characters in the game. but Luke? Nah...
Dream team: Bowie (Hero), Sarah (Master Monk), Slade (Ninja), Peter (PHNX), Karna (Master Monk), Chaz (Wizard), Taya (Sorcerer), Kazin (Sorcerer), Tyrin (Wizard), May(BWNT), Chester (PGNT), and Sheela (Master Monk). Just go slowly and draw them to you and you'll never have a problem.
@NAPREDATOR Actually, you can now use HyperCam 2 for free. Since there's Hyper Cam 3 now, they released the version 2 as freeware! It's great! Just for you to know. :P
But now to the gameplay... you did an excellent job on keeping that leader protected. NOT HIT ONCE! And great maneuvering with the characters. Way to treat them like chess pieces! Not afraid to lose some for the overall win of the battle.
The thing is... every game is slightly different. In one game my bowie had 12mp at level 20 and another he had 19mp. The stats that are given during a promotion are a percentage.
For instance once Bowie is a Hero, it seems like he is 50 50 for a 2 or 3 defence increase. It is also like this for all stats for all characters.
SO.... It is tough to say what is the best line up. But there is a core of 8 or 9 characters that exist. Use the "borderline" to play your most fun style!

SFII is just as good as SFI, infact, the replay value of SFII is better than SFI as SFII is much more expansive and can be explored unlike SFI's chapter based settings.

This game looks awesome. I have an emulator for it, but I need help - when it tells you someone has joined your party, or you get an item, what the hell do you press?? The 'ok' button doesn't take the window off, so I just find myself stuck, only able to pause. =(

I agree, that chess board battle can be one of the hardest due to the groups levels and the enemy levels as well. The one in the video can be hard, but I tend to get through it without losing anyone. I love this game, played it with my dad for years, God rest is soul.

I remember I never found this game to buy, those were tough times, I had to try to keep cheating the Game Renting Shop's (is that the name?) owner and I was constantly afraid that someone'd erase my saved game =(. And sadly, I never completed it in my genesis because I never found out about the part where you had to use the Wooden Panel. But emulators made up for it.
Ok, I'm gonna go out on the elitist limb here and say, this battle isn't that hard. You just aren't playing very well. You made Sarah the Master Monk (tsk tsk), you're using inferior characters (Luke, Jaro, Chester, May), you made Kazin a sorcerer...oh my lordy. I'm guessing you promoted at 20 too, instead of 40? To put it simply, you just suck at this game. Period. There's no nicer way of saying it.
Karna's regular promotion is Vicar. Anyone with a brain makes her the Master Monk instead of Sarah though. Making the easiest character to level an inferior class = retarded.
Also, as a general comment about the video: I actually thought you might be in trouble after the first 1/3 of the match with how many characters you lost. You weren't healing and were carelessly sticking low defense players (not even BOOST-ed) way out where the enemies could gang-tackle them. But alas, end-game in SF2 is too easy... especially if you have a level 57 Karna.
However, I still wouldn't rank this even in the top 5 hardest battles in the game.
Ah, this reminds me of the hard ass battles of the first Shining Force. I never got to this point, but this looks really hard. I love the difficulty of these games though, it makes it much more fun.

I completed the game then re did it and pwned in this battle. It is incredible hard but if you have your guys leveled up really high its easy :)
Peter becomes epic later on.
I've just restarted again and i'm at the battle just after the one after they have to leave because of the earthquake. I forgot where to find Kiwi, can someone help me please :)

Dream team: Bowie (Hero), Sarah (Master Monk), Slade (Ninja), Peter (PHNX), Karna (Master Monk), Chaz (Wizard), Taya (Sorcerer), Kazin (Sorcerer), Tyrin (Wizard), May(BWNT), Chester (PGNT), and Sheela (Master Monk). Just go slowly and draw them to you and you'll never have a problem.

Fucking bad ass game. Played it on my sega last summer and loved the shit out of it. The all-boss fight after the credits kicked my ass though.

But now to the gameplay... you did an excellent job on keeping that leader protected. NOT HIT ONCE! And great maneuvering with the characters. Way to treat them like chess pieces! Not afraid to lose some for the overall win of the battle.

The thing is... every game is slightly different. In one game my bowie had 12mp at level 20 and another he had 19mp. The stats that are given during a promotion are a percentage.
For instance once Bowie is a Hero, it seems like he is 50 50 for a 2 or 3 defence increase. It is also like this for all stats for all characters.
SO.... It is tough to say what is the best line up. But there is a core of 8 or 9 characters that exist. Use the "borderline" to play your most fun style!

SFII is just as good as SFI, infact, the replay value of SFII is better than SFI as SFII is much more expansive and can be explored unlike SFI's chapter based settings.

first of all chester and rick suk you should go back to creeds and give eric the wing, do karna and sarah both with shining balls, promoting grehalt makes land effect obsolete for him as well as peter luke moght be the worst player in the game and kiwi is horrible jaro isnt that good either this squad is WEAK...

This game looks awesome. I have an emulator for it, but I need help - when it tells you someone has joined your party, or you get an item, what the hell do you press?? The 'ok' button doesn't take the window off, so I just find myself stuck, only able to pause. =(

Wow that was a sorry display. You missed so many valuable chances to heal your party. I beat that battle without losing anyone with characters at the same lvl as yours 24-25. Just a terrible strategy

Kraken is easy, you just have to ignore everything but the Kraken head, same goes for the chess battle, just go for the king!

I agree, that chess board battle can be one of the hardest due to the groups levels and the enemy levels as well. The one in the video can be hard, but I tend to get through it without losing anyone. I love this game, played it with my dad for years, God rest is soul.

agreed. that chess battle sucked ass. i would just try to lure out the king by slowly moving up and keeping a sucky character up front. soon as he came out i would just surround and kick has ass. id usually lose half my team in the process

Oh, and I used to use Luke when I was a kid too, but I just got pissed when he died to a single hit of one of those Kraken's tentacles, LOL. Hmm, in fact, there wasn't much choice up in that part of the game.

Lol, what's the matter with you, guys? Some ppl just have their favorite characters and use them.
I remember I never found this game to buy, those were tough times, I had to try to keep cheating the Game Renting Shop's (is that the name?) owner and I was constantly afraid that someone'd erase my saved game =(. And sadly, I never completed it in my genesis because I never found out about the part where you had to use the Wooden Panel. But emulators made up for it.

Ok, I'm gonna go out on the elitist limb here and say, this battle isn't that hard. You just aren't playing very well. You made Sarah the Master Monk (tsk tsk), you're using inferior characters (Luke, Jaro, Chester, May), you made Kazin a sorcerer...oh my lordy. I'm guessing you promoted at 20 too, instead of 40? To put it simply, you just suck at this game. Period. There's no nicer way of saying it.

Karna's regular promotion is Vicar. Anyone with a brain makes her the Master Monk instead of Sarah though. Making the easiest character to level an inferior class = retarded.

Anyone with a brain knows that there's two Vigor Balls in the game, so both can be promoted to Master Monk, and besides it's a personal choice.

Also, as a general comment about the video: I actually thought you might be in trouble after the first 1/3 of the match with how many characters you lost. You weren't healing and were carelessly sticking low defense players (not even BOOST-ed) way out where the enemies could gang-tackle them. But alas, end-game in SF2 is too easy... especially if you have a level 57 Karna.
However, I still wouldn't rank this even in the top 5 hardest battles in the game.

Ah, this reminds me of the hard ass battles of the first Shining Force. I never got to this point, but this looks really hard. I love the difficulty of these games though, it makes it much more fun.
