  • $1000/emas block = money in the bank for zodiac

  • Currently putting one of these in at both BGM and ELM.

  • @airboyd The arrestor bed is made of a compressible concrete. Think of an "aero" chocolate bar with the bubbles. It is solid but easily crushed by the inertia/weight of the wayward aircraft.

  • EMAS=Gold.....bwhaha

  • what airport is that at 1.11-1.12

  • I could see india using this at there airport soon.

  • I know KSAN has this. What about TNCM?

  • This should teach people to not land short of displaced thresholds.

  • yes, that would suck majorly!

  • im sittin here chompin a burger watching this like its a hit flick i love these keep em comin 5 stars for ripping 727 landing gear off on the emas

  • So ideally.. it's like hard clay. I was referring to the molecular structure of the material, and not what it actually is.. like certain metallic alloys "have" the properties of liquid but the hardness of a metal, liquidmetal. I'm pretty sure EMAS is the same basic concept of changing a compounds atomic/molecular structure.

  • @scaremenga It's concrete that have air mixed in it to make it less durable and therefore crushable. It is also referred as foamed concrete.

  • Do they use this?

  • SMART.

  • Interesting to know, very nice video.

  • thanx enjoyed watching it

  • how about enforcing the go around procedures... the problem is not runway length but pilot decision on go/no-go during landing

  • What is the turn around time after use? If the main runway at a major airport is using this system and an Airliner runs into it, does that leave that runway unusable for days? Weeks?

  • @jerdeb4evr probably have to wait a few days while they fix it. If this EMAS is out of action then the FAA will not allow the runway to operate because of the lack of the safety area.

  • Not to mention the investigation as to why the craft over shot the runway.

  • But what happens if a plane has an emergency, cannot reach the runway and need to land prior on that EMAS layer. It`s safe to land on that soft layer..?

  • "...safe to land on that soft layer?" Great and logical question. Go to FAA D O T GOV for more EMAS info.

Better yet, go to the manufacturer's site

    esco D O T zodiacaerospace D O T com. Look for "Product Overview" tab.

  • Very interesting concept.. I'd like to know more about how 'EMAS' is made.. seems to be like clay?

  • All the best ideas are the simple ones

  • aaaaaa

  • You are going to recive $100 for that. Congratulations!
