Well this would be a great idea, very smart, but my piercer gave me a hoop. I really don't know how to get the ball unscrewed, but I just got it pierced like 5 days ago, so I'm not really worried. My piercer also said since I'm so thin, I could change it whenever I could turn the hoop without it hurting. Well, now it's looking infected. I think I touched it too much. :/
For the people who say they can't get their balls off, use latex gloves, that's how most piercers get them so right. And that's what I do with my lip ring, I use latex gloves to get it tight so it doesn't fall off
Very smart of you. I've been telling my customers your idea for years. If you can't unscrew the balls chances are you will irritate the piercing site and will get infected. If it gets infected start and follow your aftercare instructions. If you can't unscrew the balls place finger cots on piercing plier jaws and unscrew.
@TheCallielouise its not approx 6 weeks , the belly button piercing is actually one of the longest piercings to heal and to have it fully healed it does take 6 months i would know this because i do have my belly button pierced, and i have asked my piercer... so dont go calling people wrong when you dont have your facts straight. although your mate and mates mother may have changed there piercings on the first day it doesnt matter, they has a more likely chance of getting infected or irritated.

You DON'T take out the jewelry if it is NOT healed. but this idea of changing the balls on the barbell is a good idea because u are not taking out the bar and so it will not cause irritation. Make sure you use the same size jewelry.
when i first saw this is was like OMG yay, i don't have to wait 3 more months! then i realised the bottom part of my belly ring is attatched to the metal part, and the only thing that unscrews is the top ball :( but this is a really good idea for anyone whos bottom part isn't attatched! :D
ahah i had mine for 4 mouths and my mom wouldnt let me change it so i was a smart ass and did tht lol, but at tht time i only thought that the top one came off till i was messin with my other ones and i saw that both came off lol
This is a good idea! But on mine the bottom doesnt unscrew, so i just did normally, i took off the top of my starter ring and the one i wanted to change it to(the bottom didnt unscrew on that one either) and i slowly would pull it out, then pusk it back just to make sure it wouldnt close up super fast, then i took it out and quickly put the other one in. Ive had my belly pierced for 22 days (3 weeks and a day) and it was fine :) but thats just me
@yupyup715 it doesnt get infected you can change the whole thing i got mine done in January ( 2011 ) and changed the whole piercing under a month and its perfectly fine (:
@yupyup715 yeah one time minds stated to but i use sea salt soak before it got bad well i never change minds but from what everybody tells me is wash your hands before changeing it cause it might get infeacted but keep in mind thats the part of your body that takes the longs to heal sometime cause you do a lot of stuff like wearing tight clothes but i been you h20oceanspray it works good it heals it faster all you have to do is spray it on let it dry

And I mean A LOT. But I have had mine for a month and it is healing very nicely due to the fact that I have a lot of skin for the tunnel to form around the barbell. Usually people with diamond shaped or oval shaped navels feel no pain because they have a thin flap to pierce.
@niomeesexynurse here's the thing. It really is different for everyone. Mine HURT like a b*tch because I have a shallow navel and a flat stomach...so my skin is super thick because of my navel shape and density. I almost cried....but the pain was about 5 seconds. It is very worth it though.

my piercer told me if I absolutely hated the jewelry they gave,which i did , I could change it in 4 weeks. I heal really fast though and the piercer also knows how fast i heal because he did my second hole in my ear...So if you heal fast like me you should be able to change it in the matter of 4 weeks after you get it done. it shouldn't hurt at all and most of your redness should be gone. also if you have a captive ring follow the end of the new jewelry at the end of your captive ring to remove

I got mine pierced when i was 13. It didnt hurt at all. I changed mine within a week after i got it and it healed up just fine. But i also got my cartlage pierced at the same time as my belly button so i could only sleep on my back or my left side for a few weeks lol.

@destinycotter i just got mine pierced and on a scale of 1 to 10 '(1 little to no pain and 10 being horrible) ill give it a 7...but thats only while they put the bar in...after that you barely feel anything. the pain level drops to a 1 as soon as its done :) and its easy to hide. just dont get naked around your dad.

@destinycotter i just got mine pierced and on a scale of 1 to 10 '(1 little to no pain and 10 being horrible) ill give it a 7...but thats only while they put the bar in...after that you barely feel anything. the pain level drops to a 1 as soon as its done :) and its easy to hide. just dont get naked around your dad.
