  • @DanielJordan1991 Not to mention Kristin Chenoweth.

  • she was in 'passion'?! who did she play?

  • @MrDuffmann22

I don't think she was. I looked at IBDB and Wikipedia, and neither site mentions it.

  • @MrDuffmann22

    She played Fosca.

  • buck, you would NAIL THIS ONE! how have i never heard this song before?! so good.

  • I Had to Use This In A Words and Music For My Forensics Team At School...

  • POCAHONTAS!

  • I didn't think she fit the role of Cosette, but I dig this.

  • can we revive assasins too?

  • @khm1968mo It was

  • I love listening to this song when I'm upset - it's just pure bad ass girl power :) and Judy's voice is AMAZING. Makes me feel so much better every time :)

  • pity you don't know history.

the cold war was fought on many fronts and this one that equaled cuban missles

  • I lovelovelove the music in this musical! And it's fantastic how you can hear the ABBA influence in some of the songs :)

Pity the story is not the same calibre as the music.

  • Love this song..and she does it w/ perfection..and with lyrics by sir tim rice what more could you want?

  • dang wat a voice!! superb

  • Never take a strangers advice, never let a friend fool you twice. Hot, talented...just amazing!

  • Does anyone have a good version of Idina Menzel's Nobody's Side?

  • @cdrooks11820

There was an official recording of that concert. You can probably buy it on CD or itunes.

  • im doing this show at the moment!! such a good show! and so difficult to learn! xxxx

  • AMAZING!

  • It's something about the 80s. The message comes off so much more powerful here than at the London concert.

  • @msbecky630

It also helps that she's a better singer than Idina Menzel.

  • my favorite singer !!!! i love al the songs that she sings....(BRAZIL)

  • she is wonderful as florence.

  • the lyrics extoll such stark, total disillusionment - heartbreaking. sort of like saying to yourself "it's as bad as you thought, baby - now learn to live with it!"

Neil Young had a similar lyric: "I was thinking about what a friend had said, I was hoping it was a lie" -- that was the Cold War for you, and one irrevocable side of life...

  • im doing this show right now at my highschool and it almost sounds like this

  • Buck sent me etc etc~

  • best version!

  • She's also the singing voice of Disney's Pocahontas

  • How wide is her vocal range? She is the same Judy Kuhn that play Cossete in Les Miserables 10th aniversary rigth?

  • yup

  • yes, she it :)

  • Yes, she also played Cosette in the original Broadway cast of Les Miserables.

  • Not to mention Pocahontas.

  • @maskusmajorus woahhh!! this chick was pocahontas? that puts a whole new light on this performance for me, for some reason.

  • Oh Ye It Is In It Well Spoted

  • Best Voice, best intonation ever. Judy rocks!

  • BEST VERSION

  • Man i love Pocahontas

  • What's with Judy K.?Her voice is as good as any others. I think she needs a new agent or manager, and a wider selection of good music to record.

  • excellent!!

i thought i wouldn't like this one as much because I've always heard the original Elaine Page version for years, but this is great!

  • Love this song. ~ :3

  • I think this is the perfect tempo for this song!!! Its not supposed to be a bubble gum song!!!

  • obviously, it was written by the abba guys!

  • if the tempo was sped up for recording purposes (as is typically the case w/ most Broadway cast albums) i'd hate to think how much slower the tempo could get

  • Is it enough to say I'm speechless? This is amazing - and saying that doesn't feel like I'm giving even partial credit to Judy.

  • I must admit I like this version better of all female artists tackling this song.

  • That song gets me everytime I listen. Thank you very much for uploading such a beautiful version!

  • Judy would make a GREAT Elphaba!

  • i think she'd makea better Glinda. she has a very large range, but i think that she sounds better at the higher end of her range. however she is awesome here

  • She's too good for Wicked. The only reason she would do is for exposure or money.

  • "wicked is a vehicle for lower quality singers or actresses"

Uhmm.. except Idina Menzel, Ana Gasteyer, Kate Reinders, Caorle Shelley, Joel Grey, George Hearn... all great actors and singers.

  • Hey! George Hearn and Joel Grey are great.

  • Hm, I find this version quite safe. This is the kind of song that you take risks with.

That's why I like Julia Murney's the best.

  • where can i download the mp3 versions of these songs from?

    she is so absolutely amazing.

amazon never seems to have it. can anyone PLZ PLZ PLZ tel me where i can get the mp3?this and heaven help my heart

  • If you're ok with buying the CD, I think Amazon has it.

  • i'm from india.

i cant use itunes and amazon so i really cant get the song any other way.plz mail it to me!

  • Both Judy and Elaine do well at this song, but Elaine kinda gives the role a little more vocal personality, whereas Judy here sounds just like she did when she recorded Pocahontas.

Dont get me wrong, both women are astounding, and I onyl wish i could sing half as well as either of them, but i do prefer Elaine Page's version.

  • Does anyone know if this song is available in a karaoke version?

  • I should be posting the karaoke to this on my channel soon :)

  • I am SO happy to hear this! I've been looking for karaoke for this ssong for months. Thanks a million!

  • She's unbelieveable. I would give everything for bringing our production of Chess back at stage... missing it sooo much!

  • God, this brings back memories. I remember seeing this on Broadway in about 1988.

  • This should be the theme song for every girl that gave thier love to a man that never stuck around.

  • thats so cool my real last name is Kuhn

  • Julia murney is the best at this song, type it in and check it out

  • That's why she got cast in the role, right?

  • I think the UK version is better because the leads were better cast. This sounds like Pacahontas singing chess and it just doesn't have the flair of the 80's version. Judy is a great performer but she is a poor choice for Florence.

  • The American version is an 80s version as well.

  • The Broadway production was in 1988. This is from the 80s, too.

  • i have watched this video probably over 150 times. well not watched, but i listen to the song in the background

this song is so perfect, especially this recording

  • Personally I like this version the best. The words are really clear and I like the way her voice sounds while she sings it.

  • Keep CHESS alive. It's too good to die. Maybe the world has now caught up? Best musical ever.

  • You are rigth.. but do not worry I am in a musical where we have alot of the songs from chess... so it lives, well it does in Denmark ^^

  • Damn straight! They did it at my high school and I've loved it ever since....probably my fave musical after Les Mis! Great stuff...so sad though! But that's what makes it great....bring on the angst!

  • @SingleCoils Couldn't Agree MORE!

  • British version is better, imho, simply because the British performer is more capable of conveying emotions through the song. This one just sounds like she's singing some song, the British one sings it as if it's her own thoughts.

  • um not really

  • Song is ok but it's really the visuals that make this video.

  • so bascially everybody's on everyone's side

  • i love julia murney's version of this song...this one was great too..:)

  • Here is my pronouncement on the best Florence. I saw Chess, with Elaine Page, one week after it premiered in London and again a year later. I saw the U.S. national touring cast when it first went around. But, without question, Judy Kuhn's renditions are the best. And I don't think that Elaine Paige, who I admire as well, ever recorded "Someone Else's Story," which was not in the original production. Thank goodness it was added later!

  • that picture of her is very beautiful.

  • I love her voice, do you have anymore videos from her that you could upload?

  • i just realized i know her daughter, anna. we used to go to acting class together and she goes to the school around the corner from me with my friends. and dude, she looks exactly like her mom.

  • If you know is Gerli Padar?

    Stupid peopl....

Gerli represent Estonian Eurovisioon 2007 Partners in Crime

  • That's like calling someone stupid for not knowing who ran the 400m hurdles for Ethiopia in 1976. You fail.

  • Precisely. Eurovision simply does not get all that much attention here in the USA.

  • Ethiopia didn't compete in 1976 Summer Olympics

  • I love this song(A)

but Gerli Padar is best :)

  • Who is Gerli Padar?

  • not as good as the swedish version.. but still very good.

  • Great voice and love this song, but not a patch on the original Elaine Paige version. Elaine was the original Florence Vassy when the show opened in London and Judy opened the show in New York. Quite different voices.

Not sure about the Julia Murney comment - think her version of this song is great (but still not as good as Elaine!)

  • nah i disagree judys voice is more stronger! elaine may have been the orginial but judy's got more power!

  • I love this song and her voice is great. Thanks for posting it!

  • I wish there was a video of CHESS Pa Svenska on you tube.

  • There are a few around. See my playlists.

  • not one has been filmed i wish they filmed judys version

  • There was a DVD made of the Swedish version.

  • yeah i mean't an english version lol

  • There was a video, of sorts, called "Chess Moves." It has three or four music videos made by the original cast, incuding Elaine Page's version of this song. I bet I have the only Beta copy still in existence! I know it was sold in London in PAL format and could be found, with some searching, on VHS in the U.S.

  • she should play the next elphaba !

shes alot better than julia murney !

  • her voice is fabulous! she really is an amazing singer!

    more judy kuhn please!

  • Thanks.Budapest

  • judy kuhn rocks

  • I've been poking around the Chess clips searching for some of that ABBA era compositional genius from Bjorn and Benny. I just found it. - Brother Ron

  • yeah i totally agree! she is my favoutrite broadway actress! amazing!!!

  • Of course, she is. and she hit that one note so much better then Julia... Not that I have anything against Julia. but Judy's better.

  • she' an amazing, AMAZING belter. =)

  • Does anyone know if you can downlaod videos on Youtube?

  • I'm pretty sure there's a way, since I've seen people plagiarize videos. Go ask on the comments to a featured video and you'll probably have a better chance at someone telling you how to do it.

  • Thanks so much.

  • Thank you so much for posting this song...I have the original musical recording of CHESS...I have been thinking about getting the Broadway recording as well...after hearing Judy Kuhn`s version of "Nobody`s Side" -- I do not need to "think" anymore; I will be getting the CD now! ^_^

  • That's true - Judy was great in Chess and the CD is definitely worth getting for her brilliant voice alone!:)

  • She is definitely brilliant. Can't say the same about David Carroll, though. The only recording with a consistently good cast is the 2002 Swedish recording.

  • unfortuantly I don't know sweedish. Glad to know this is the Broadway version is their a video version. I even liked this when my sister was in ametur version Chess is truly one of my favorite musicals.

  • There is no video of the OBC. The only video ever released was of the Swedish production.

  • Julia's great, but I love Judy Kuhn anytime. =)not to mention she's beautiful.
