Aces are like an Excelsior with style and way more balls. After Henderson left in 1919, he went on to improve his designs with the Ace. And while Excelsior bikes declined on into the late 20's, Aces were faster (held speed record for stock motorcycles) and generally more innovative bike. Indian would purchase the design in '27. Excelsior would quit making motorcycles altogether (making Schwinn bicycles instead). If they kept Henderson, Excelsior would've made decent bikes into the '20's like Ace
This bike predates the Vincent Black Shadow. At the time and for awhile this Ace was the fastest thing you could buy. Thanks for the informative video, and congrats on the win!
A beautiful ACE and a lot of work to make it happen -congratulations. I must correct something you said though; William Henderson designed the ACE. Arthur Lemon only joined the ACE Co after W. Henderson died in an accident in '23. Also, it was the Hendersons who left Schwinn's Excelsior Co when he kept making their Henderson four bigger and heavier, which they were against, and this led to their developing the ACE -the most beautiful four cylinder of all. Thanks for posting.
