My wife of 28 years, and I almost broke up one night, while listening to this song. Now every time I hear it, it makes me want to cry, but really brings back grea memories
I love the lyrics. It reminds me of the relationship between my exboyfriend and myself at the moment. It has been 2 years and he still loves me, although I broke up with him because I was always at his beck and call.
Why do you people have to psychoanalyze every damn song posted on here? It isn't about you. Was not written about you. Was not written about your relationships. It's extremely odd how immature people truly are on youtube.
@LennytheLizzard Why don't you just shut up. I find it really immature how you're psychoanalyzing everyone's comments around here. Why don't you just go and get a life and fuck off.
@Snowee In other words.............."I have no life, so I have to go on Youtube and tell the world of my dreams when I was a child."........How adult.
@druroma This band was from Vancouver Canada. They had 2 albums out I believe. This is from the 2nd album. And there was a remake by John Parr. No where near as good though.
that's funny You say that Steve this was my breakup song for my first love Steve was his name, I thought I was going to die but this song along with others helped me get through it and I have found my soul mate:) This song played over and over in my room:)
you can never truly let go but the catharsis of songs like this help toget over the pain...mw is gone and sonner or later they will be replced by someone far more right for you..keep the faith
About a year ago, I heard this song ago and felt it was the right time to let go of MW. Though things continued between us, I've come back again to listen to this song to help me let go............It is so hard emotionally.......
I used to love this tune, back in the day. I looked for it in the record stores after it stopped playing on the radio but I never knew who it was by. I thought it might be Air Supply or REO Speedwagon. A one hit wonder, I guess.
D.L. My heart broke when I lost you. Although we had to follow different paths you will always be in my heart. You were and always will be the only one I loved.
Now you knew that you should not have left. You wondered why I didn't make you stay. I had to tell you, the hardest part of love is letting go. P, it's a miracle that we met again after 20 years, but we could never go back ...
I have a very good mp3 copy of this song available.
It's not "CD" quality....but you'd have to try hard to hear the vinyl scratces in the background. It's the best one I have heard to date. Unless someone has an actual CD version (dont think it has ever been licensed for a CD at all)
I have this 45....I bought 2 copies of the single when it first came out many years ago. (still have both copies in my record collection).- It was on the Epic label.
"Letting Go" got quite a bit of airplay here in the Detroit area, but the song (unjustly) never made it chart-wise.
I heard this song many years ago as a teenager but now at 41 years of age, I finally truly feel the meaning of the song and how to "let go". It's painful but there comes a time when nothing else can be done but to let go. I wish you all the best in your life MW and hope that you will treasure all the sweet times we have had. It will be a long and painful road ahead for me to have to wipe all those sweet memories of us........
GREAT lost 45!...I bought two copies of this single on the Epic label when it first came out in 1982 after hearing it on CKLW Windsor/Detroit. That radio station played the record quite alot when it came out.
I'm glad that I bought the single when it came out, because I've never seen any more copies of this record turn up in in over 25 years...I've still got both of my copies.
@newcolonyfreak1 ,I remember hearing this song on CKLW AM 800,I live north of Detroit about 100 miles, and could get that station in real clear, wish they were still on the air, still love this song,
I saw them in Lethbridge Alberta at the Sportsplex arena. All the big bands of the day came through and played there.... Prism, Loverboy, Triumph, Brian Adams, Red Rider, Trooper, April Wine!
"1981 There Are No Secrets/Te Laisser Faire (Epic/CBS) E4-4298" from Straight Lines. "Te Laisser Faire" is the French version of "Letting Go". If you have a copy of this, please please share!!!
I was goinng to ask the same question, I've been looking for the title (thank you) and the song for a long time. Who sang the French version? Was it them?

Thanks, it is probably on a B side then or something...keep me posted if you find anything. I heard it the last time in French like 20 years ago. I have the English version on LP though!!!
Geemon06, I can never thank you enough for posting this beautiful song. I have been searching for it for a long time. Apparently, not too many people know about this song. The lyrics of this song meant a lot to me. At the time this song was popular in Canada, I had to let go of someone. I was going through a painful time and I found solace in this song.
I'm impressed that this song is even on here. Straight Lines - Canadian (I'm so proud). This song was actually fairly big here, but I think that was about it. If I'm not mistaken it was around '79 or '80, which means that a LOT of bands copied this sort of thing a few years later. Straight Lines did it first!
