I disagree with him. If you use RAID you lose TRIM! But Raid does scale well on SSD's. But Yuo really need Trim to get rid of garbage and keep performance ont eh drive at acceptable levels.

Sorry, I meant to use cycles instead of hours. One write/rewrite cycle is 20GB a day (or some standard). Most SLC SSDs are rated at 1 million+ cycles upwards to 5 million. That's a lot of data moved before they're likely to even start failing. MLC SSDs, the cheaper kind, are rated at maybe half a million. Even then, they'll last 3-4 years.

they do have a limited life time but it will easily take between 5-7's before it dies even if you run it 24 hours a way now and then which you have a very good chance of a normal hard drive of dying in that same amount of time.

it would vary depending on read right speed of the drive cause each brand have different speeds just like HDD it just depends on the quality. hence why drives of the same size can have such a large price range

It's cool if you want to stay with Intel but The AMD 9950BE is about the same price and is faster - 4.5 million transistors and 33.1gigabites per sec, the Q6600 - 12gig per sec. My 9950BE is @ 3.6ghz and in the GTA4 benchmark it gets an average of 38FPS on high settings @ 1680x1050 with my 4870x2. It gives about the same FPS as a QX6800 alse @ 3.6ghz with a 4870x2. Intel are known liars when it comes to benchmarks.

It is a known fact that most benchmarking software uses Intel compilers and a few years ago, VIA ran one of those benchmarks on one of their CPUs that can change it's CPUID. They named it GenuineAMD, ran the bench then changed it to GenuineIntel and guess what happened. The intel scores were higher yet it was the same CPU. The Q6600 cant compete, the 9950 can clock to 4.5ghz and the Phenom II holds the highest OC record for a quadcore @ 6.5ghz. They tried to OC an i7 to that speed but failed.

If AMD is better then why are their sales down and why in every single magazine and testing(including my own) is the core i7 beating the new amd quads. Run both systems on air or standard liquid cooling and the intels can be clocked higher.

alright, core i7 tops out at about 7.5ghz on liquid cooling..... the AMD phenom2 x4 does 6.5 on AIR! and its compatible with any am2+ mobo, whereas you need a new mobo to run the i7.
