yep that's correct, the filming was held up due to one of the robots took off and impaled its spike into the back of one of the production crews leg. It raised major health and safety issues with the whole show. A steering committee was then formed to raise issues on the show and how it could be made safer to which it was.
excalibur should have won that, the problem was the back armour got jammed up in the wheels couldnt get it moving properly after that .and there was a very bad radio reception all the lights etc.never mind ive got over it now.centurian had a very powerfull axe went through 4mm steel stainless steel.still got my axe if anyone wants to buy it .its up on my wall at the moment £10.000 ono ha ha ....
Excalibur was unlucky, their axe was awesome it was bolted to a flywheel and a stater motor threw the axe. Seen in the vid they fired their axe into the wheel arch of centurion and it actually punctured our wheel, battery power sadly let them down if my memory serves me, it was 8 years ago.
Yep, do have series 4, this was the final curtain for Centurion before being broken up and fed to the pigs. I then joined Steve Merrill in Sir Chromalot, I rebuilt the battery drill powered lorry wheel with bosch 750,s and a full CO2 bottle power ram. Our best performance was series 6 in a 4 way melee against ICU, The Alien and GBH. The self right mechanism worked and we were fipping robots until we run out of gas. I will put series 4 and 6 up On-line. Thanks
Steve Merrill did not build Skeletron It was a creation that me and my brother made 8 years ago for a programme called Techno games. see us at the edinburgh science festival 2008. Skeletron has a new surprise.
Yeah sorry about that. After I posted the comment, I actually remembered that you did build it Ray! Sorry about that. You once brought Skeletron to my school, many moons ago, I think. =)
Yep, Steve Merrill was not really interested in the robot building side, he was the front man with the gob and classic one liners, and that's what he does best, he never once took the show seriously.
what happend to that show?

If I understand correctly, they stopped the series due to 'safety concerns' and possibly funding issues

Do you have your Season 4 fight? I know you didn't do too good, but it would be cool to see some more Season 3-4 fights.
