Merci

• I think that every woman who has ever suffered in love can relate to this song...

• How did I get here from smosh?

• la meilleur chanson dans toute la pièce!

• Oh and I love this song, it is awesome and powerful :)

• Je te mets au pied du mur : I've put your back against the wall

Viens en moi : come into me

Petite ordure : you piece of trash, you little bast*rd

Some interesting lyrics there, quite graphic :)

• @musiclas1 OK thanks for the info. In English, I think, there is also an expression about putting someone against the wall, meaning, that person has no choice, but to act.

• @dzve and @musiclas well it is both at the same time. It is a double sens. The nexts sentences can tell you it is phisicly against the wall but also the expression. Both are true and both can be use this is a other reason french is beatiful.

Merci.

• I love this song! I have to memorize it for my French class and I can't wait for the test on this song! It's amazing!

• If you read the book, Fleur-de-lys is only 14 years old when this takes place and she makes Phoebus' life a living hell, reminding him of his affair with Esmeralda and this song is so good to describe her and her inner battle: she wants to have him all to herself but at the same time she cant quite forgive him yet if ever... She is a cool girl

• Talk about a woman scorned....

She kinda scares me.

• Wow!!!!!!!!!This girl has a much more better voice than Esmeralda!!!!!!!

• @mjforlife17 She has often played the character after Segara! She was supposed to be Esmeralda, but was too young.

• @Dardon11 Thanks for the information!!! :) But she really is amazing!!!!A lot better than Esmeralda!!!

• 25 people dont want her to forgive phoebus

• @UseF007 I didn't want her either, but I ADORE this song ^^ but you're right!

• @UseF007 And that's what she should have done =)

• @UseF007 Make it 26.

• je to nádherné, úplně super, kam se hrabou naše muzikály...

• i wish she would stand up straight.

• I dont like phoebus's character but i sure love patrick fiori :P

• I've Decided I Don't Like Phoebus.

• Aahah !

Pourrait-on croire à ça ?

• I'm French but this song is really sour. Fleur-de-Lys is destroyed by Phoebus who has betrayed her. This song is her last call to her beloved Phoebus. If he doesn't take care of what says her fiancé, she will be ready to destroy him in return... And this can be seen as the last cry of a dying woman...

• I remember that in the book, she love Phoebus, but she is also affraid of him...

• Love it! Such an impressive voice and powerful lyrics! The best Fleur-de-Lys ever!! The caracter doesn't coincide with that of the book, but it's even more interesting!

• Souffrance

• @sl72610 Not at all. I am french, and her french is perfect.

• "Take me, you brute,

Teach me the ways of lust.."

• So she's basically saying, "I'm innocent and white as a lamb on the inside, but hey, you better make sure that girl is killed or I will make your life a living hell from this point on." Well played, Fleur-de-Lys. Well played.

• @AuburnSnow she does not exactly say what you think. she says : "I am as white as a lamb in the mud", and she adds she gave up all her child dreams ... she's aware of her cruelty. But how cannot we understand her. :)

• @AuburnSnow In french it says ' je suis aussi blanche qu'une brebis qui se roule dans la boue' so the ' only my coat touched by dirt' is not a good translation. It should be ' I'm white as a lamb who's rolling in the dirt' . So she's saying that she's not 'white'

• @AuburnSnow And basically you are quite gentle with her. The translation is relatively below the intensity of French words !

• Funny the way Hugo gets into the head of the most unexpected characters! Fleur de Lis has a lot of contrasts in her personality. However, she is mainly just a normal 14 year old, trying to make the best of a marriage that she doesn't control and I expect her life with Pheobus will be very unhappy.

One of the things I loved about Esmeralda was that she's an outsider like Quasi and is innocent when it comes to the kind of ambitious & judgemental values that have been trained into Fleur de Lis.

• what a voice and technique for a 17-18 year old

• héhe_aNÿõNe_wÀnÑÄ_chAt_wíth_mÉ_i_fEël_sõ_l0NÈlÿ_tÒDâY♀

• i absolutely love this song its so stunning and beautiful. I feel that this song really shows Fleur's strength and the fact that she is not afraid to make his life hell now. The only thing i dont like is the fact that this song makes her out to be a bit of a b*tch

• OMG she's amazing !!

• Sigh, I love this song (=

• I'd like to ask a question: in the last french tour of Notre-Dame, did La monture come before "Je reviens vers toi"?

• @fabiachan Yes you're right

• @Biloutemag

Oh! it's strange, because in the other versions(italian, english,spanish,korean,russian...) there's "Je reviens vers toi" and then " La monture"....but I prefer the french order: it makes more sense in my opinion!

• 20 people did not like the image quality because the sound is breathtaking...

• french songs make me feel better........aw, i need it

• i saw her two days ago in Moscow, and wow, she sings even better now (and looks too! pregnant Julie was so sweet and pretty!)! i never liked this song much, but now it's one of my favourites!

• @iShatik

Is Julie pregnant?? Who is her husband??? I wanted her to marry Patrick Fiori T_T

• Comment removed

• @fabiachan i've got no idea :) but there are a lot of videos from Notre-Dame de Paris concert in Moscow on Youtube if you like to see her (i'd definitely recommend to watch "Ces diamants-la" - it was very sweet, - and of course "La Monture" - she sang this song incredibly!)

• I adore this song!! I feel for Fleur-de-lys! She's so hurt by Pheobus, but is willing to take him back... For whatever reason, she loves him! Blah! What does she see in him?! The man makes me sick!

• I can watch this song none-stop for ever!

• Not only that the song is beautiful and she has a beautiful voice, she also acts brilliantly in this part . I really like it

• Julie's singing voice is really exceptionally beautiful. Bravo! By the way... (I'm not very familiar with the musical, or the storyline, so sorry if the question is too stupid XD) I understand that Fleur de Lys meant Esmeralda, but why did she refer to her as to Zingara? Who is this Zingara anyway?

• @SandraLaren zingara means "gypsy"

• @SandraLaren a zingara was a very impolite way to call a gypsie

• @marc198706 well, they didn't really care about political correctness then :)

• @SandraLaren Fleur de Lys is the character of the singer, while Zingara/Gypsy is Esmeralda.

• @SandraLaren Zingara mean gypsy in french, as far as I understand :)

• @riverofrussia

Zingara means gypsy in italian :)

• @riverofrussia No, I think "Zingara" is the italian word for gypsy...

• I'd say, even though in most of these songs the translation is just plain awful, yours is quite good. I'd say the best english translation possible

• Is she Fleur-De-Lys... What a nice voice!

Very good sond..!

• @NiNNiNTk Yes her name is Julie Zenatti at this time she was 17 years old

• @xibe2007 Thanks for help! She is so pretty! : )))

• Brilliant!

• i love this song so much! passion!

• At 1:45, Phoebus looks like he's thinking: 'Whatever....'

• I understand that she ´hates Esmeralda, but killing her rival and taking Phoebus back... Í have no sympathy or respect to that brat. "My heart is pure""? Yea, right! Still, great song, voice, acting, etc.

• I respect her more than I respect Esmerellda.

• She's much more forgiving than I would be. I wouldn't care what happened to Esmeralda, but I would KILL him. I absoluetely despise Phoebus. He's a vile coward.

• my favourite performance in the whole musical, without a doubt. gave me chills, such an amazing understanding of the song.

• I don't think she's evil or spiteful. She's broken-hearted. Fleur-de-lys is such an amazing character in that she's almost the same age as Esmeralda (at least in the musical), yet she has no illusions about Phoebus. The fact that she still wants him is, well, a matter of taste. I think she's only putting on that pink and nice appearance of naivete, youth and inexperience. This girl is fully capable of making Phoebus' life hell if he so much as glances sideways after all this ordeal.

• @AnitaBrunsk You're right about her character in the musical. But I think that, in the book, she's actually different. Not properly "naive" like Esmeralda, but she's a young aristocratic lady who has fully accepted her status in the society of the time, and she wants to believe that Phoebus is still vergin and loves her alone. Plus, she's a spoilt and cruel girl who enjoys hurting people, and she's very superficial I think. Still, I LOVE Fleur-de-Lys XD

• @AnitaBrunsk

most of all she is wonderfull!!! =D

• I have never seen Fleur de Lys look so threatening!

• Exhibit A why French is one of my favorite languages. Even while its speaker is spitting with rage, it can be so beautiful.

'Course, Julie Zenatti helps.

• This song is as vengeful and evil as it is dirty. I think the way she pronounces the words with spite and barely contained feelings is excellent.

• All the song ends by "ure" showing how powerful (and beautiful) french language can be.

• She reminds me of Laura Fabian, the way her voice sounds.

• i love her she is the best and pretty than esmeralda

• @albertweskercv I find she's prettier than her in real life, but not in the play. I don't know what they did to her, but she looks so different.

• @Mercuryvegetable You got that right. But i love her playing. She is good.

• wow perfecto

• love her voice! though i had to read the subs to understand what she was saying i think she really expressed the emotions well

• Great song, voice and acting. Even though I loathe that vindictive brat. "My heart is pure" - liar! Liar!

• I love this song ♥

• The king Louis XI married in 1436 at age of 13, his wife had 11. Lot of girls was married at 14 at this time !

• yes, it's means "come inside me".

She uses some metaphors like the lamb who becomes dirty...this is the loss of innocence.

• her "belt" refers to the fact that she is a virgin...there is a lot of hints but it is difficult to translate it in english.

• She's supposed to be 14. Thats kinda not believable dont you think ?

• " Viens en moi petite ordure " makes the translation pretty obvious. " Viens en moi " is simply Make me love.

• "Delivre-moi de ma ceinture" actually refers to the chastity belt Fleurs-de-lys would be wearing. She's saying "deliver me from my chastity belt", with the obvious sexual connotation ;)

• actually in that period women, especially from the higher society, used to wear wery high and tight belts over their dresses, and it was only before going to bed that they took them away." take away my belt" means in this case simply "undress me", with all the meanings of the case, since Fleurs-de-Lys has understood that to keep Phoebus next to her she must stop being a little girl but has to develop sex-appeal.

• She'd also be wearing a chastity belt though ;)

• Okay, here's what I think will happen to Fleur and Phoebus: They will at first live quite happily together and believe in their love for each other, but then as time passes they will start getting tired of each other and perhaps even despise each other. They will show a happy marriage in public, but behind the facade things are in ruin, and they have affairs and often end up shouting at each other.

• That's probably what Victor Hugo was talking about when he said that Phoebus was doomed to be married

• @chocobasse10

I dont agree with the 'they will believe in their love for each other'. Even if Fleur is madly in love with Phoebus, she has no illusions about him anymore, not enough to trust in him again.

• She has great voice. I like her better than the character of Esmeralda.

• Une voix sublime .Que d'emotion.Merci

• julie zenatti is the best french singer

• Fleur des Lys is 14

• Wow with such rage she hates Esmeralda. Anyone know how old Fleur-De-lys is supposed to be? I know esme is supposed to be 15

• @CantNotLoveMusic here she's 14, in the book she's 20 or 22

• Oh Thanks :)

• Wow, I forgot how old they're supposed to be!
