  • What with the rubati? Back to Glenn Gould!

  • Gorgeous atmospheric playing, reminiscent of the late great Tatiana Nicolaeva. Sure, Marta Argerich romps through it very much faster, as do many others, but that's what makes music so wonderfully varied; each interpretation is as valid as the next. We simply decide which style suits us personally, and we shouldn't criticise the taste and fancy of others if they are different.

  • Maria Tipo's first recording, 1955, Scarlatti Sonata in C major, L 457 -

    thanks and regards

  • очень нежное исполнение!!! спасибо!

  • Oh, what a beautiful recording. I must admit, have never heard of her.

  • i have this recording; it seems her style is a bit different-- a little too moist and slow with the petal compared to other pianists. Still its good though

  • Good playing, but isn't a Courante a fast dance? I just need clarification on this.

  • I'm sorry, it sounds nice because it's Bach, but this courante it's totally out of tempo and style. Maria Tipo could be playing a Chopin Nocturn instead.

  • you could be right. but gould was also notorious for drastically altering tempi, and he seemed to get away with it...

  • This is as remarkable Bach playing as I have ever heard.

  • This makes me dream.....

  • Miraculously beautiful Bach,

  • Magic

  • This is one of the most romantic versions I have heard.

  • Really beautiful playing. Maria Tipo deserves

to be much more known than she is. Her Scarlatti disc is a treasure.

  • This is really beautiful playing. It's so nice to hear someone play this courante slow like it should be. Did you know courantes were actually slower rather than allegro? Most destroy this courante with a fast tempo and staccato touch. I would, however, play it just a tad faster than Tipo does.

  • She is WAY under-rated. I love Maria Tipo. She fascinates me. Bach sounds robotic is so many other recordings, but Tipo makes Bach sound like perfection.

  • Very beautiful and quite romantic Bach-playing, but very musically and with deep sensation.

  • "Maria Tipo making time stand still" It is truth... Thank You very much for posting!
