@SlyDessertFox You have to take a screenshot of the entire world and then edit it. Yeah it takes quite a while to do the whole process for this video (which is why I haven't made anymore - maybe when they get ~100k views, then I'll make another one!
@SlyDessertFox I just made a slideshow ( I think I used WMM). Each slide takes ~3 seconds. Then I think I used the fade effect (or maybe none at all) between each slide.
Excellent video. I assume you were playing as Casse?
I was worried the whole thing would become another Yellow Death Ptolemaioi game. Though I was very impressed with the Lusitanian's conquest of Europe. Shame it now looks like a pile of crap :(
It took about 15 years for the Casse (British) to take a single province!
The EB team should give them a better starting position so the AI can actually make some inroads.
I love this mod, one of the best mods I've ever plyed for any game ever, and that's the truth. It has it's problems, and I was heartbroken to see that they will NEVER update EB1 again except for bug fixes, but it's still an epic labor of love. EB2 is taking forever and is on a engine many consider inferior (Med2)..
@bonapartist YOu do realise that I was the one who was playing as the Casse, and that I was not playing the game, just defending my province (because it's not like they were going to do anything game changing anyways.) But you're right. This mod is epic!!!!
I'm still looking forward to EB2 Anyways. The detail they are putting into it is amazing...
Holy shit, the Koinon Hellenon made a major come back and created a massive empire. Guess they got sick of life under and being treat like shit by the Macedonians. The Baktrians make an impressive comeback too after nearly being exterminated by three different factions.
EB really suffers from having far too much empty expanses though and results in ridiculous nation states like what appeared here.
@DarkFilmDirector I disagree respectfully with the last bit, it allows creative expansion and prevents the crappy campaign AI, which can't be markedly upgraded by modders, from immediately starting wars with its neighbors. You're generally dealing with other nations by turn 10 so it's not a big deal to me.
Unrealistic, premature expansion has always been a problem with EB. This is why I can't wait for EBII on Medieval 2, which will have 10 additional factions.
is it just me, or does egypt always kick seluecid ass? ive played the campaign about 4 times (romani, Carthage, Greek, and Macedon) and have always found my late game rival to be egypt. (kinda boring and frustrating tbh)
@aris205982 Yeah that's rather typical. You can use a 'force diplomacy mod' or simply give the selukids heaps of money via the ` command (to the left of the numbers). I can't exactly remember what the 'cheat' is, but I'm sure it will come up in a quick google search.
@DrDavidHowler It is rather realistic, in terms of unit names, names of characters, faction recruitments etc. etc. (there is a long list). And anyway, the romans conquered Europe very quickly, USING IBERIAN TECHNOLOGY, so why couldn't the Iberians do it?
@Randomer379xxxVideos Because the Iberians, like other "barbarians", were not a unified nation. Rather they were many small tribes with the same culture. If they had been united, then maybe they would have conquered Rome.
@Andrewmation855 Fair Point. But the 'romans' were effectively not a unified nation at first. They unified (slowly but surely), so why couldn't the Iberians do it? (I agree that everything occurs too quickly, but it's a bit hard to control that properly: EB isn't perfect.
@LuxxyLux1 Fair enough. But they were dealing with so many enemies at once. Sure the Lusotannians would never have been able to do that, as there would have been much more resistance from opposing iberian tribes, just as the romans experienced great resistance. My point was simply that the Romans aren't as high and mighty as they seem - many people think of them as having a godlike status...
The Gauls got totally dispersed by lusotania, I also like how the Parthians were able to maintain an empire the whole way through and then Bactira pipes up at the end and just sends them back to basics. How could the Romans lose so bad to the Lusotania. Victory Egypt there I'd says but the Spanish did exceedingly well considering they bitch slapped the two super powers of the western med. These videos are interesting you should make more. It's fun using to imagination to guess how this happens.
Thanks! I would make more, but the time required to make these videos is actually quite ridiculous (and non-existent now). But I'm glad that you liked them. You can go to the EB forums to check some image faction progressions, which are also pretty interesting.
@higgy1051 They aren't supposed to be provinces, but you can't just make a space where there is no province, so they used one of the province slots to fill this area in with unusable land. It wouldn't been impossible to get anything through both of those deserts, and there is nothing to find there anyways...
started EB as Koinon but i got tired quick, now i play as sweboz(germans) and it's fantastic...you only start with one city and your economy is non-existent, big army, huge deficit(after 2-3 turns), extremely slow on the development, very challenging.
looking forward to seeing the other factions aswell.
Yeah, the music stopped playing around the time the Romans were losing badly. But I was so eager to see them fall, that I didn't realise there was no music or sth. In my head there was different music: "Die motherfu***r die!"
I have a few beefs with this historically acurate mod, firstly where's India? I mean if it's a design issue fair doo's I mean it must be hard modding a game so if they omit factions to save space fine. But secondly why is there no Gaul factions, they did exsist did they not?
The original RTW didn't even include the other half of the selucid empire, so including India was impossible (province and faction limit). There are gallic factions: Arvenni and Aedui - light and dark green...
@way2tehdawn There is a thing called a faction limit, which means that in RTW, there is a maximum of 20 factions, 1 of them has to be rebels. The EB map was already extended by a massive margin to include the whole of the Seleukid domain, as well as Baktria, and Saka nomads. Also, there is a 199 province limit. They would have had to have started removing a lot of regions from Europe in order to historically recreate India and then add in the Mauryan Empire.
@way2tehdawn Due to the constraints of RTW they could only include 2 Gallic factions, the Aedui and the Arverni. In EB 2, which is coming on Medieval II: TW, they have added a third one so far, the Boii. They have also added Pergamum, the Bospharan Kingdom, the Numidians, a Baltic faction, and a different British faction. It is likely that another Iberian faction will be included.
Besides Casse, Saba, Sauro and Getai, that's a very interesting endgame map you have. I've only seen Luso do so good in the TW forums' EB AI Faction Progression thread. I'm amazed Epeiros stayed alive that long when KH was destroying the Grecian peninsula.
my dream is Rome vs Parthia fighting on the Euphrates with my cataphracts routing the legions and the horse archers chasing them down while they run away. but it never happens in the game :(
If a city rebels against its rulers, an army will be created by the computer, sometimes a rebel faction, sometimes belonging to a real faction. This can be FUNKY because it means HK (greek cities) will spawn in northeastern Spain, Arverni will spawn in Asia Minor, etc..

I've never seen the Lusos go rabid like that. So it's true that Lusos generally dominate the Romans (and Carthies apparently) in autocalc?
The key province that determines which superpower will dominate in the east is Antiochea. If the Seleucids lose that their homeland provinces in Babylon are completely open.
If the Seleucids manage to keep Antiochea then their economy in the Fertile Crescent and Persia will allow them to dominate the East no matter what their setbacks are.
If you check out my Pontos Campaign, you will see that (because I took Antioch and partially blocked the Egyptians), the Selukids are still very strong. They actually got an alliance with the Egyptians (Ptolemaioi)
@Randomer379xxxVideos I've found the Selukids are 50/50, they're either the sick man of Asia or the Big Grey Machine. I've seen them dominate Anatolia and stomp the Ptolemaoi flat as often as I've seen them lose.
In my second game Seleucid is beating the crap out of everybody. They already completely taken over Ptolemaioi, have Parthia as a vassal and pretty are by far the largest faction. Strange...
If you use Alexander with EB it runs as fast as vanilla rtw. Id reccomend EB over RTR anyday, Playing RTR means you want accuracy, so u may as went go the whole way an get EB. Nice Campaign AI btw, i thought it was krazy how the Koinon hellon came back towards the end usually once macedonia has spread beyond control theirs no hope for greece, they must have held on tight unless it was you playing them.
you're probably better with RTR unless you are very very very deep into the game. EB needs a lot more time in it and a lot better computer. RTR is pretty much Rome Total War but with cooler skins, greater map, more factions and longer battles with no immediate global routs since morale is very high.
EB is based on the same principle but even more accurate, a LOT more complex and is harder to run.
haha, lets not start this arguement of one mod is better than another. But from experience:
RTR is less realistic yet tries to make the game more fun and simpler.
EB is very complicated with long loading screens, but the historical accuracy is amazing (which I think makes it more fun - but that's personal opinion).
@Randomer379xxxVideos Agreed! Ever since I started playing EB I quit RTW completelly, I even think is more fun than MIITW in a certain way. The historic accuracy is amazing, but what i love best is the unit recruitment system, wich allows a same faction to manage radically varying armies according ti the areas where these are raised. that is awesome!
Read the description before you comment.... meh i don't really care.
I was playing as the Casse, and I couldn't be bothered doing anything, because that would eventually influence how the other factions played, and historically they didn't invade Gaul (i think)
Well, it took quite a lot of time to get to 172 BC, so i don't think i'll be going to 14 AD. But feel free to do it yourself, it's fun do to it yourself, because you can actually see what happens with the armies.
Well they left there territories quite undefended and the Koinon Hellenon had quite large armies, so they just took them from behind. The makedonians had their armies further north attacking the getai.

If the Seleucids manage to keep Antiochea then their economy in the Fertile Crescent and Persia will allow them to dominate the East no matter what their setbacks are.

Seems like Seleukaia always loses
Bahuu1989 1 year ago
Not always....just 99% of the time.
If you check out my Pontos Campaign, you will see that (because I took Antioch and partially blocked the Egyptians), the Selukids are still very strong. They actually got an alliance with the Egyptians (Ptolemaioi)
Randomer379xxxVideos 1 year ago
@Randomer379xxxVideos I've found the Selukids are 50/50, they're either the sick man of Asia or the Big Grey Machine. I've seen them dominate Anatolia and stomp the Ptolemaoi flat as often as I've seen them lose.

@Bahuu1989
In my second game Seleucid is beating the crap out of everybody. They already completely taken over Ptolemaioi, have Parthia as a vassal and pretty are by far the largest faction. Strange...

It's called Rom_camp1. I'm sure that means nothing to you, but if you have EB, you can find it in the eb/data/sounds/music directory.

ROBHUGHES1453 1 year ago
you're probably better with RTR unless you are very very very deep into the game. EB needs a lot more time in it and a lot better computer. RTR is pretty much Rome Total War but with cooler skins, greater map, more factions and longer battles with no immediate global routs since morale is very high.
EB is based on the same principle but even more accurate, a LOT more complex and is harder to run.
AlexOfMacedonAOMH 1 year ago
haha, lets not start this arguement of one mod is better than another. But from experience:
RTR is less realistic yet tries to make the game more fun and simpler.
EB is very complicated with long loading screens, but the historical accuracy is amazing (which I think makes it more fun - but that's personal opinion).

Randomer379xxxVideos 1 year ago
@Randomer379xxxVideos Yeah I know, there are two. Watched them both, what I was trying to say is that you should make a third one! :)
TheSarenarass 1 year ago
@Randomer379xxxVideos Agreed! Ever since I started playing EB I quit RTW completelly, I even think is more fun than MIITW in a certain way. The historic accuracy is amazing, but what i love best is the unit recruitment system, wich allows a same faction to manage radically varying armies according ti the areas where these are raised. that is awesome!

@Randomer379xxxVideos And what about Roma Surrectum II? I think that it's the same as EB, only with better landscapes XD

Sara kept trying to take lands away from Egypt but couldn't quite do it :P They stuck in there though.
And Amazing how Bactria recovered from close to defeat to securing a pretty big area!
The same could be said for Egypt who was close to having its empire divided in two, they clearly had a lot of uprisings, heh.

What the hell is wrong with Casse? That's the faction I play...Sometimes this AI needs help.
teamxxxsleep 2 years ago
Read the description before you comment.... meh i don't really care.
I was playing as the Casse, and I couldn't be bothered doing anything, because that would eventually influence how the other factions played, and historically they didn't invade Gaul (i think)

Go Lustannan, they pwned Rome, i wonder what they did with all the ppl in rome??? 0_0
Jay2Rawr 2 years ago
Wel they enslaved a lot of them, and the roman leaders who betrayed rome were executed - because - "Lusotani does not pay traitors"
And also they decided to start speaking latin for the hell of it :P
Randomer379xxxVideos 2 years ago
If you have nothing to do you should make another video to the year 14 (it ends there I thought). I'd like to see that
Liam75210 2 years ago
Well, it took quite a lot of time to get to 172 BC, so i don't think i'll be going to 14 AD. But feel free to do it yourself, it's fun do to it yourself, because you can actually see what happens with the armies.
Randomer379xxxVideos 2 years ago
Yeah, I thought it would have taken long.
Liam75210 2 years ago
I like the Lusotannons
Do you know how the Koinon Hellenon were able to beat Macedon through all of Greece?
RoyalAnarchist 2 years ago
Well they left there territories quite undefended and the Koinon Hellenon had quite large armies, so they just took them from behind. The makedonians had their armies further north attacking the getai.
