It is not a Macedonian dialect. It is a slavic dilalect (probably Bulgarian) which was spoken by Slavs that populate the region of Macedonian after the 7th century AD.

Why is so difficult for you guys to comprehend that???

@ydra1821 The language is Macedonian, the dialect is from Kukush (Kilkis), Macedonian language and bulgarian language are 2 differente languages, but they are similar because the are from group of south slavic languages.

It's mean man who spread word of God,because"Slovo"means word(in old slavic language) medieval time,in the Balcan region every Christian was a slav:) that was a culture... So in culture view Macedonains are slavic, but in national view they are Macedonians.Do you understand my friend?:)

@46denari Yes, I do understand. However, my opinion regarding the meaning (not etymological) of slavic culture is slightly different than the general "every christian was a slav". I won't insist though because you were very polite with me. Just, if it matters, I believe that Macedonian nationality is strongly related with the nature of the modern Macedonian language and this classifies it within the slavic-derived culture and population.

First Macedonian king who participated in the Olympic games was Alexander the Philellin.150 years before Alexander the great. Now this language in the video is an old Bulgarian dialect and not Macedonian.

Greek was introduced (enforced) in Aegean Macedonia through schools. That's why the so called "Macedonian Greek dialect" is IDENTICAL with the standard demotiki. All other native Greek areas have their own specific dialects.

Νot actually. Macedonian Greek is not identical with the standard Greek.Greek was introduced through schools only in the slavic-speaking villages of Florina, Pella, Kastoria etc. Search Macedonian dialect of Greek.

I tried Wikipedia, the Article named: Ancient Greek dialects. There are seven named: Doric, Aeolic, Attic, NorthWest, Acadian, Ionic and Achaean. Macedonian is not among them. Look at the map. Macedonia, Illyrian and Thracian are separate langauges. :-)

It is true that we don't know enough about the Ancient Macedonian. But that goes both ways. The Greek claim that it was a Greek dialect is also unsubstantiated. The fact that Greeks called them barbaroi (foreing language speakers) suggest that the Ancient Macedonian language was foreign to them.

It was not only Demostenes. When Alexander I wanted to participate in the Olympic games, they rejected him as a king of barbarians. He managed to convince them (bribe) that although his people are barbarians, he is of hellenic origin.

actually there's no macedonian dialect of greek. if you have a look at linguistic maps of greece, the region of macedonia is not included.

today the greek language spoken in macedonia is not different from standard greek. just a slight slavic accent. they speak standard greek because the greek language was introduced artificially through schools.
