pigments are the loose form of eyeshadow (or pigment) they are not pressed into a little pan whereas eyeshadow are pressed..hope that helps

Pigment is a loose eyeshodow(just like a loose powder). They are usually bright and metalic colors. But of course you can also get neutral colors such as: naked and vanilla.
