According to the game documentation, they are shrimp cocktails. However, at one point, the game was going to be released as a tie-in with the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics, so I wouldn't be surprised if they would have claimed they were Olympic torches if it had been released as an Olympic tie-in as planned.
Nice pacing, and excellent use of the "surf music" variation that the game used. They should make this a cell phone game-- they already did with Astrosmash...
Thanks for posting this & bringing back the memories! I used to spend hours and hours playing this game back when I was a kid. I remember making HUGE squares that almost took up the whole screen and getting 2 or 3 penguins at a time (I remember thinking back then that they were young bears or something b/c of how they looked). Ah yes, the good ol' days of videogames...and I've been playing them ever since.
Reminds me of Dig Dug II. Anybody know which came first?

I heard of this game, but I had no idea that it was this impressive. I liked how the seal bounced duncan off the screen :)
