  • my grandparents on both sides of my family are all from ireland my grandmothers brothers wo were born here in america went back to ireland to fight the the black and tans

as we still have family in northern & southern ireland i feel a strong connection to that island

to some would say im just a yank or a plastic paddy thats not true i am proud of the men who fought for ireland and hope that ireland will me made whole again up the ra!

  • @hsofpn Well you obviously don't know the modern implications of the phrase 'Up the 'RA'.Do a bit of research on the troubles, the GFA, the Downing Street Agreement and the NI Assembly. The peace process wasn't for nothing. Fucking yanks.

  • My granddad is Irish, and this film made me so proud to have just an ounce of Irish blood in me. The mindless savagery portrayed in the film angered me to no end, the debates made my heart beat faster, and the ending made me cry unexpectedly. I think Ken Loach and Cillian Murphy did a fantastic job.

  • This was one of the best, most literate and intelligent films I have seen in a long, long time. It is the history of my people and I learned alot, even though I thought I knew a bit about Irish history (Me Grandad was born there, me Da a Liverpudlian Irish) I learned alot.. The debate scene (about the Treaty) was probably the best bit of a movie that I had ever seen and proves beyond a doubt, NO ONE can argue like an Irishman ! Too bad it wasn't widely viewed here in the US.

  • viva ira viva collins viva saad zaghloul viva gandhi all of them fought for freedom in 1919 from britain

  • not of 2006, of all time, i love hear about my heritage

  • It just goes to show, what we went through to get our country back.

My great-grandfather was in the war for this country, i have no issue with the english , but im so fuckin' proud to be irish.

Cillian did this film justice :)
