Every now and again a song comes along that is too good for Eurovision. This could be a successful song for a handful of British bands.

Cyrpus had a song too good for the competition in 2005 (a ballad - Lisa Andreas???) that went on to be popular throughout europe but did nothing in the competition.

I think it's not so much political voting as the taste of the population that determines the results. Let me explain - every year more and more eastern countries take part of the contest and resp. more and more people with easter taste vote. So there's no wonder there are more people who like the slavic style! Why include all those countries, I don't know.

I love this track. Me and my Wife watched Eurovision 2008 tonight, and the French track, the Turkish, and Ukraine track got into our hot list. I really wanted the French one to win. I think this track is awesome. Its simple, original, good chord changes, catchy, and it pisses over the cheesey euro-trance/pop dross that most of the other countries submitted this year... apart from Denmark, Turkey, and... oh I cant remember now...

I totally agree with you. Last year, Serbia got 12 points from 8 countries, 6 of them were: Hungary, Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia and Macedonia. All these countries are neighbours of Serbia (except Slovenia, which used to be a part of Yugoslavia together with Serbia).
