@ILLbiteURfaceCNT in comparison to most other products yes, but if you are college student who's parents don't buy your musical instruments anymore (as they used to) you have to look past the name and actually feel how it is. Take Jackson for example, to get a halfway decent product you have to pay at least a grand before its even worth it.

i'm thinking about buying an sx strat. but i want to change the pickguard with a warmoth HSH pickguard. but on the warmoth site it says that warmoth pickguards are made to fit American and japanese made fenders and it MAY fit a clone. Do you think that a fender pickguard will fit an sx strat?

I'm interested in these guitars, but every demo vid I hear, they sound like garbage. I can't tell if its the over aggressive playing style that everyone seems to take in these video, or the guitar itself. They just sound noisy, harsh, and clanky, with 100x too much reverb.

I'm looking at these guitars for R&B/Soul/Funk, is it maybe that they're meant more for hard rock/metal?

I don't expect them to sound amazing for $100, but in comparison with the squier strats, the squiers sound great.

@jgk381 Ya dude, cameras dont give these guitars due credit, its very hard for distortion to sound good on cameras under 600ish dollars.. i have 2 of rondo's guitars, EG6 and AL2000, the AL2k is WAY better than any epiphone ive ever played. The EG6 is a really nice semi-hollow 335 replica as well. These guitars are great for anything really, remember, most of your sound comes from the amp you own (please be it a tube amp!)

@Despotes518 I think it might be the humbuckers on the squier thats giving it the clean sound I'm looking for, as most of the SX strat copies are all single coil. An SX strat copy might end up being better in the long run if I added humbuckers later, but not really looking to put any money into what I get at the moment, so I'll probably just go with the Squier. I'll be recording/sampling it into my Motif straight, using the amp sims/effects on board. Not the best, but better than nothing for now

Fender is just a name. I don't care who makes it if it's good. I've had a couple of Fenders, a U.S. Hamer special (nice), and a Les Paul. BUT I've found that budget guitars are getting good enough that I don't pay attention to brand anymore, especially since I LIKE to work on guitars and upgrade. You can upgrade 5 cheapies for the price of 1 U.S. made. If someone ain't comfortable working on a guitar though, branded stuff is a easier path.

@bloodmoonblooz Fender quality are mainly based on long experience and continuous improvement. That is why it is one of the best guitar manufacturers in the world. It is true that some cheap guitars are very good but never can not compare with brands like Fender or Gibson

@CapnTac i ve played on many SX ..Fender has original sound....fender is better than SX...i think SX can not be compared to fender...but that's just my opinion based on experience with these guitars...You should know what is better for you :)

@Spectre020 I know your comment is a year old but a Fender mex is 5-6times this price..

So that would leave you 400dollar to upgrade the hardware etc etc.

So I think it's not that bad for a guitar of not even 100bucks ;) you just have to pick out the right one because obviously there will be lesser guitars out there.
