@AwkwardEmo Uhh.. It's not that easy to just explain. You're also not near the climax yet. Johan didn't become this way on his own. I think you'll see what I mean when you finish it, there are still lots of characters to be introduced. On the surface yes, Johan is the main antagonist and a serial killer, so it's easy to assume that the title is about him, but there is so much thought put into that one word. Final episode is called "A Real Monster". I don't want to spoil things! lol
I read every 162 chapters of Monster over twice. I love this Manga more than Death Note, Naruto, Claymore and One Piece. But there is one thing that I don't understand.
Johan is a Monster, but was made into a Monster, or was he born a Monster?
@OverHedge99 I don't know if there's really an answer to that. On one hand, Johan started killing people before he hit puberty, and he was recognized by the man at the orphanage as having an innate malicious character. On the other hand, he didn't exactly have a simple or carefree childhood. So who knows? Perhaps it's a combination of both.
@demonjuggler It's interesting that it's never answered in the series. Especially since it complicates matters by it showing that Johan's "troubled childhood" was not really "his." I think his last line in the series is the most telling about what turned him into a monster though...
@OverHedge99 Johan is a sociopath, and it is generally believed that a person is born a sociopath and cannot become one. But that doesn't mean they will commit murder, so it is a mixture of both. The reason the man at the orphanage recognized Johan's malicious character was because he had already gone through Bonaparta's experiment. All the children who went through that developed serious problems as adults.
I always wondered how the German dub would sound......the Japanese voices are really good though. I'm not a sub lover or anything, but out of all the anime I've watched Monster has incredible voice work in the original version.
LoodleRyuuzaki, You can go to the dubhappy website to find some of the episodes with English dubs, or go to chia-anime website and you'll find it there. Although it does take a while to find.

Very good job on this. Syncing the song to the right clips was well done. I love this series.

It's an interesting question, though.

I love Monster, but unfortunately, it was never released here in Switzerland and the fansub-torrents are no longer available.
Do you know where I can get it in Japanese with English subs?
Because I only found it in Spanish, French and Russian.
They don't even have with German subs, even though the anime plays in Germany.
I think that's pretty bad marketing.
Anyways, the video's awesome, even though I hate this song.
5/5 + fav
