  • Any issues with 2010 Tahoe's?

  • @futurecop3100 Havent seen it yet but since it's of the same quality, I'd assume their will be. Time will tell lol

  • @Intechdude300 Thanks, I may be picking one up tomorrow or next week so I'll have to take a close look. What I did notice is it had the issue with the passenger side interior door handle where the "chrome" is peeling and can cut your hand. From what I understand, this problem will be fixed under warranty as it is also a widespread issue.

  • @futurecop3100 Ohh yes peeling door handle chrome is still an issue. I believe GM issued a recall sometime in late 2010 or early 2011 regarding that. ( In other GM models too)

  • got a 2000 1 ton pickup with almost 200,000 miles, interior is perfect, besides the leather drivers seat worn a little bit. chevy lost it's quality late 2007, but i think things have turned around for them.

  • Looks like typical GM quality prebailout.

  • my bad its not a Tahoe its a suburban na same shit...... lol

  • I have a 2007 and a 2004 Tahoe. My 2004 has 90K miles and no issues with dash or peeling. On the other hand, my 2007 Tahoe with 60K miles looks like crap. The heater/AC controlers are worn down where the black film has come off exposing an ugly green backing and the steering wheel is also peeling. I just went to Chevy to have the controllers replaced, but guess what. They can not just replace the $5 button, they have to replace the entire unit, $299 for just the part. So dissapointed with GM.

  • I have a 07 tahoe n has a crack by the airbag

  • can you make another one of these

  • @fordjeremy04 Doesn't this suffice?? :P

  • I think since they have been making air bags in dashboards, and then started having them made over seas, quality has went to shit.they seem made from a mold, which would be fine. about the same as always, but the material used is shit, and looks to be very unsafe. I sure would hate to have an airbag throw a piece of broken plastic at me at 100 miles an hr.

thanks for sharing this with all of us.

  • Typical gm quality. smh.

  • My 2007 gmc Yukon xl slt. Cracked in same spot plus over by passenger airbag. Pieces of shit

  • GM needs to do a big recall on there interior.

  • @v6ish This isn't anything new. GM has ALWAYS had the shittiest interiors.

  • These are nice but gm needs to improve their interiors

  • thats really strange i had a 07 new style silverado with 215k on it and a 6000watt stero with 2 15s and never had a problem with the dash

  • Trust me I own a toyota and this happens to Toyota's too so pretty much what I want to know is are automakers covering up all this mess about dashboards cracking? Leather or plastic regardless it seems to happen to both.

  • @folch52 Yes, a good share of Toyota Models from 2003+ also have a cracking dashboard issue. And it's even more pricey with Toyota

  • @Intechdude300 does this happen to 2007 and up Denalis for Yukons?

  • @nick101yankees Yes, you can only get away with it on the escalade which is different

  • @Intechdude300 Do you think a gmc dealer would replace it for free or would you have to pay

  • If you talk to the General Manager of you local Chevy dealer they will replace your dash at no cost.

  • That's crazy. You'd think with so many of them doing this in the same exact locations, they'd address the issue. Hope the redesign in a year or two clears that problem up.

  • @2007Escalade I didnt expect to find so many in 1 day. But now, it's the easiest problem to spot as it's been over a yr & the trucks have further aged.

  • I've been getting this with GM bumpers, have yet to see it on interior bits.

  • I have a 2007 Avalanche LTZ with black interior, mine cracked at 50,000 miles by the airbag on the passenger side. I didn't notice it for a while but no one hit it. Maybe my 15" subwoofers caused it.

  • @DaDude825 No, its just a common problem. Heat, age, & terrible grade of the plastic is all it takes.

    Dealer should be responsible!

  • At least it's covered under warranty. I thought American cars were tough, but I guess when chevy says "chevy runs deep" it means that you can run something deep in the dash. And I'm just wondering how do the cracks show up? Do the people hit it or does the sun damage it?

  • OMG this is terrible thanks for the video man.

  • They have fixed the problem just checked my 2010 Tahoe with 34000 miles on it no cracking dashboard.

  • @disizzmyswag Give it another 2-3 yrs & we'll see for sure

  • Well it's nice to see that GM still can't make full size trucks. My dad has owned a 97 Suburban and a 2005 GMC Yukon XL Denali. Both of them had numerous problems and required insane amounts of money to repair things that shouldn't have broken. The interiors are pathetic too.

  • I got an 07 silverado cracked right up by the airbag and the upper glove box lever Also broke to. Seems like some shitty plastic or something.

  • My 07 yukon has the same cracks...and i thought it was my sound system...

  • Oh wtf im checking my 08 Tahoe

  • the Interior in the 2007-Present ones look alot better than the 2000-2006 ones....but apparently the Shitty Quality is still there.

  • I've noticed the interior on these trucks age like milk. The leather seats get shiny and the sag like a motherfucker. The dash and steering wheel also get really shiny and the texture dulls out. I had an 09 Silverado LT and all of the above happened and it finally set itself on fire at only 16,000 kms. I went over a washboard part of a road once and the entire dash face came off! I went to Ford. much better build quality and interior age.

  • Reminds me of Dodge Rams in the 90's. I've seen this in 80k Escalades including my moms 07.

  • they're probably designed to break during a crash in order to absorb the energy.

  • @TheBikemaster94 Thats a job for a car's crumple zone. Apparently GM interpretation of that is with the dashboard lol :P

  • pure over priced shit!

  • And this is one of the many reasons why I hate GM products. I used to install car stereo electronics in the early to mid 90s GM was the worst then and seem to be continuing that fine crappy plastic tradition.

  • I can tell you this I just changed one and it's a BITCH to do! As a car audio installer I take apart cars and trucks all day from GM's to BMW's and this was bullshit to do and a pain in the ass.Good luck if your going to try,GM you suck and this is bullshit that people pay this much for your junk to fall apart....GM= EPIC FAIL!

  • GMC = General Mal Content

  • Does the dash crack on the Acadia's

  • is this problem only with gm trucks produced with that particular dashboard or does also effect the dashboard in regular gm pickup's as well?

  • rydell northridge is changing my dashboard out of warrenty for FREE tomorrow morning

  • I have an 08 Silverado and the Door lock actuator just went out at 17k miles. My buddy has an 07 Avalanche with the same cracks in the dash as the ones you show in the vid. I am very disappointed in a $47k truck. This is the first American truck I have bought in 20 years and likely the last. The door lock being broken is a common problem, look on line at all the issues people have, and will allow a child to open the door at speed and possibly fall out, like my 8 yr old almost did.

  • I just noticed 2 cracks on my dashboard on my 2007 chevy tahoe, 32k. Pretty sad! Gonna call the dealership tomorrow. Hopefully theres something that can be done.

  • What else do you expect from an American car.

  • @calusa95 You can expect a lot, the new Cadillac CTS, for example, has quite good build quality and excellent materials.

  • I meant flop as in long term quality. I own a 1989 Ford Taurus GL which was handed down to me from my parents, and you would not believe how much money these cars take mantain its driveability. Over the 20 years my parents owned this vehicle, they put an ungodly amount of cash into this vehicle between the water pump, heater core, radiator, transmission rebuild, front end rebuild, new struts all around, and countless minor inconveniences. They are great cars, when they are running correctly.

  • @jordy19892012 Well that 1st generation Taurus had it fair bit of issues within a few years after introduction. The SHO version of those years were tough as nails tho. They really hit it off well with much improved reliability & durability when bringing in the Duratec V6 powered version in 96

  • thank you for researching this. We just turned in our leased 07 Yukon XL, we only put on 36,000 miles. It was in great condition even with the door handle recall. Never knew about the inherent dash crack issues but when the leasing company sent us its final bill it was for almost $800.00 for guess what? A cracked dash. Be aware if you are leasing and getting ready to turn your car in.

  • These Vehicles never wear well. A good reason why I really would never go with a GM product. Love the Chevy Cruze, but I will wait a few years to see how they wear. I wouldn't be surprised if the Cruze ends up being as much of a flop as the Original Taurus from 1986 was, with it being problem ridden and all.

  • @jordy19892012 Well, I honestly don't believe there will be any major mechanical issues with the Cruze. I know it has a solid engine + 6AT from most automakers lately have proven reliable. If theres anything I have concern about when it comes to that car is how the interior wears & the Steering system as GM did a terrible job with the Rack & Pinion + the electric Power steering assist which was quite problematic in Cobalt, HHR, Malibu, Equinox & etc. Not sure about 2010+ as they're too new

  • @Intechdude300 Cherolet had a recall because the steering wheel would fall off of the cruzes

  • @jordy19892012 The cruze should be a rather safe choice from gm, it is one of their global vehicles, and has been around for a couple years. Its just that is just now coming to the US market. As for the dash majority of the cruze's come with cloth on the dash

  • @jordy19892012 The 1986 Taurus was very well received by both the public and the press. It won many awards, most notably Motor Trend's car of the year for 1986 as well as being named on Car and Driver's ten best list for 1986. Over 200,000 Tauruses were sold during the 1986 model year, and in 1989, the millionth Taurus was sold...

Not bad for a "flop," wouldn't you agree?

  • 07 Suburban- 6 inch crack left of dash hump. power outlet covers gone. headlamp switch pushed into dash. chrome handles peeling. 60,000 miles.

During first 20,000 miles... dvd replaced. fuel pump replaced. computers reprogrammed 3 times. forward sprague gear in tranny replaced. rough idle since day one. now burns three quarts of oil between oil changes. 50,000 dollar piece of crap.

  • @degabby5 They're way overpriced for what they are.

  • @degabby5 same with my escalade. Next time..German car

  • does not it have a sponge dashboard like old cars !?! only hard plastic !! ... humm.... obviously , this car is cheaply made ! .

  • @TeDuaMalakie Nope, not padded at all. Just a thing layer of plastic. Not that plastic is a bad thing but the look & feel of it is very cheap. Some automakers that use plastic dashboards go through the effort of Rubberizing it & making it more sturdy. This is flimsy & brittle..

  • I've got one that popped up yesterday. '07 Yukon!

  • It's good to see that us 94-01 Dodge Ram guys aren't the only ones. Ours don't just get little cracks though, they cave in completely.

  • @Kamasutra6901

I've seen it, like the sinkhole in guatemala

  • I love how everyone who doesn't like GM uses this silly dash board thing to jump all over them for having poor quality. I happen to own a 2007 Chevy Surburban and its dash has held up great. I also have a 1994 Suburban that runs and looks great for its age so I am staying with GM.

  • I love the way the interior looks on these things, but the quality is bad.

  • True! I still love my GM and FORD vehicles. They have more character than the over rated German vehicles. American originated vehicles has ALWAYS been in my family.

  • this is why we have german cars!

  • I still love them.

  • GM JUNK! my dad had a 2007 Yukon xl and at about 100,000 miles the dashboard lit up like a christmas tree every alarm possible came on and got worse the 2007-current GMC Yukon,Yukon xl chevy Tahoe, suburban Cadillac escalad, escalade esv suv's are JUNK from the first generation until 2006 were great SUV's now they just suck

  • Dam that sucks, my 07 Tahoe doesn't have anything but the door handle I would B pissed if I had 1 of those

  • 2:20 - 2:27 hhahahahahahaha lol.

  • So GM SUV's blow!!!!

  • lol the dash in our '04 Expedition has been abused beyond belief, and it doesn't have a single crack. Go Ford!

  • And grab the Silverado center console too. The Tahoe one integrates into the dash, where the Silverado's console just sits under the dash.

  • @redneckfl1

Center console can be a problem.. Ones that do have a center console & have Rear A/C, carry the climate control in back of the center console.

  • @Intechdude300 Guess on the rear ac models you can either mod the Silverado console to house the ac control, or just leave the Tahoe one and deal with the gap. If GM just used quality plastic people wouldn't have to swap dashes. It's a shame too, because I really like the look of the Tahoe dash.

  • If I had a Tahoe I would swap in the more basic Silverado dash as I have yet to see one of those crack yet. Someone told me it is a direct swap minus the gauge cluster. So if you go to the junkyard, just buy the cluster from the same truck the dash came from. The truck dashes don't look as nice, but I would rather have that dash with no cracks over the nicer one, which will probably look like dried up clay in 10 years.

  • @redneckfl1 guage cluster's are interchangeable, the tahoe one just looks nicer lol

  • Comment removed

  • I have a 2008 Chevy Tahoe and noticed two different cracks...next to the airbag & the cluster. All of this after the problems with the remote start (Dealership never figured out how to fix) This truck was bought new (kept in garage) and its a not worth my money I spent.

  • @ItsMiful

Yeah we dealt with a few 2007 Tahoes & some were such a Biatch to get the remote start working. It was a once in a blue moon deal for it to work.

These trucks are overpriced for what they are.

  • my cousin has an 07' LT tahoe mybought her's the 1st week it came out and the fucking dash started cracking at about 9k mile's and that's fucking terrible i mean she spent $40,000 for what now the passenger side window is freaking out i got my fucking finger pinched in it this is not cool GM has hid under the bed on helping her what kind of customer service is that man up gm improve vehicle quality god damn it!

  • That's because it's a shit American car , that is that, you wont find that in on inports

  • i have an 07 tahoe and it had 38k when i bought it and it has cracks in both of those places

  • a car over 35k should have a soft dashboard and certainly not a caracking one.

  • @maeng97

I feel sorry for those who spend 60K for a Top Trim GMC Denali LOL...... Funny how GM still makes it the same way.

  • @Intechdude300 Unfortunately there's someone in my Family who purchased a Yukon Denali.....overall i was quite dissapointed in the interior quality,it looks nice enough but for 60 K it could be alot more Refined with higher quality materials and soft touch materials.

  • My brother has a 08 Silverado idk if his dash is cracking but hes had a shitload of issues from the Chevy emblem on his tailgate to his door and quite a few more. So many actually I forget most of them.

  • I have an 07 tahoe with 90,000 miles and none of these defects...maybe i'm lucky? but it's the worst GM truck i've had.

  • WTF GM they just don't make vehicles like they use to

  • Tell GM you noticed a burning smell and noticed the crack when smoke began to escape from it and GM will repair for free.

  • I never realized this and I have a 2008 gmc Yukon xl sle

  • @Numa1EBS

Many times it starts out as Hairline cracks which sometimes isnt visible from the driver seat.

  • We have an 07 Tahoe and the dash cracked on both sides as yours did. Griped at GM with no avail.... They paid for the part, I had to pay $315.00 for labor. There are tons of folks with this problem. Definitely a manuf flaw... Gotta love that great GM feelin'.

  • Comment removed

  • Last night my wife notice a huge crack on the left side of the hump behing the steering wheel too. 2007 Tahoe with 60k miles and the thing is falling apart... The lighter covers broke off the first day we got it!! This is such a disappointment.. I have a 1952 Chevy that is still driving along with the original motor and trans.. I SERIOUSLY doubt this thing will be around that long.. THIS SUCKS!!! Thanks for the vid.. great info! I hope they recall this crap!!

  • @300bum07

the 1 by the airbag is most obvious but over the cluster is usually invisible. I kinda doubt they'll do a recall cause it's not a safety issue. I put this video up cause i got some heat by Tahoe fanboys when I tout the somewhat poor interior quality in these. This will shut them up haha. They're tough trucks but a damn shame they Shat with the interior.

  • @Intechdude300 I'm thinking the safety issue is when an airbag deploys, shards of hard plastic will go flying everywhere... maybe they should think of that... wishful thinking I guess hehe..

  • Should see mine...much worse than the ones in video. After 2 years and 25000mi of complaining, they offered me this to fix it. I pay 60% of $910 and agree to routine transmission maintenance and GM will eat the other 40%. After running numbers, the "deal" comes to $940...$30 more than not having their "deal". I can't wait for all 07-08 Tahoe/ Suburban/Avy owners to join up in class-action suit....product defect on $40000+ vehicles.

Thanks Chevy, 1 less repeat customer here. Great product

  • How does this happen and what has GM done to fix this?... Shouldn't there be like a recalll or something?

  • @MrMK94

I've seen 07's & 08's. Havent noticed 2009 s yet but I assume it's the same as its the same design u to the present yr. Time Will tell. There should be a recall since it's not the owners fault but since it's not a safety issue, most likely there'll never be a recall.

  • jesus christ... it's not like it has to be made outta leather or sawed to be durable, but DAMN!! that's terrible...

  • LMAO!!! how can GM be soooo cheap!!!??? hahaha thats a damn shame, as a GM guy i say"WTF is this" this vid made me second guess my impalas dash aswell and had to out to check out if there was any cracks! looks like i'm fine!!!!!!

  • @90Mrknowitall

This is in FL so the cracking process is much accelerated with the heat & sun. Its less common in Northern States. Either way, its something that should never happen 4 such a young vehicle

  • what about escalades?

  • @Adam44516

I haven't paid attention to the Escalade but I recall the dash setup being different so its possible those dont suffer from it. I'll keep a lockout & confirm if those suffer

  • @Intechdude300 okay cool, can you check expeditions too if you come across them?

  • @Adam44516

I've been in many 07+ Expeditions too. Only issues I see in those is wear on the edges of the center console by the shifter. Seems a persons leg or knee can wear the paint off over time, & I notice the black trim outside below all the door windows also fades or peels off revealing a Chrome ( It seems they paint over the chrome... In those cases, I only saw those issues on 07-09's that approach 100k. I haven't seen or noticed any with a cracked dash yet.

  • @Intechdude300 oh okay, thanks for the answer dude

  • wow never knew they were that shitty great vid!

  • @302platinum

1st 1 i did yesterday, All the others I shot today.

  • this is why you buy an expedition
