One of the main reasons to use containers is because of the abundance. To help the environment etc. To build them for homes/offices from the beginning defeats the purpose. WTF is this shit??
@FreeBlago1 The other reason to use them is because they are small and therefore more energy efficient, also portable. He said the heater for the whole thing was 350 watts. Why trash the idea? It's probably much cheaper to buy and to run than most homes.
@FreeBlago1 I agree with you more. But the main reason for making these is for cost efficiency. Pre fabricated modular homes are a great way to reduce waste and help the environment
@bannol1 Hey it is easy to construct, and cheaper and it is stronger than steel. Perhaps as a week end house , with good interior architecture it can be designed as modern house..i think. well now i am actually planing to build one with 4 containers, under 20000 dollars.
Very nice looking but they seriously didn't plan the electric box very well. I feel they could of placed it in the living/kitchen area if anything. or at LEAST built it into the wall. I did like the concept of the dish drying I haven't seen something like that in my "neck of the woods" as some people in Jersey say.
Impressed by the drying rack?! My family in Poland has always had a rack like that in a cabinet above the sink... almost every Polish home I've been to has one. Not such an innovation I'm afraid.
The drying rack cabinet is extremely clever. It's going in my tiny house. Some of the rest of that is questionable. It would make a decent hotel room, but not enough built-in storage.
nice, did not like the expoxes pipes in the bathroom, electrical box in the bedroom, had some other features that I liked and will use for my container and this brings me to the point of...using a shipping container to make a dwelling is to re-use and avoid cost of framing or building. but it is nice to see new ideas just the same. not sure what the cost is on these units but????
@hesellsmystuff you can see the grommetts on the corners of the thing that all shipping containers have just because it was never used as one does not meant it's not one.
A very good idea, but having checked their website they seem a bit overpriced. The single bedroom unit goes for 58k (or about 54k US dollars). You can buy a used shipping container (or a few) and make it into a comfortable dwelling for far less. I guess it just depends on if you want to put the work into it or not. Thumbs up for this video however, we do need more of this sort of thing.
@OregonAlleyCat its very nice but its very expensive. a person who wants to live in container usually wants to save money.. whats the point then? might as well construct a normal house.. it will be safe in a hurricane as well.
@islandmamma Why? what if you want a cabin somewhere in the woods for yourself to relax? Its perfect choice, premade and ready to ship on site. And the bars are perfect especially if theres bears around. It might spare you burglary as well. This is an innovative living place and I would have it before a wooden cabin.
what a ripoff!!

@millionthusername I agree, and most of us are here because we like the idea. My lingering question is.....why not use second-hand containers?

@FreeBlago1 answer, sheer stupidity. What a waste of resources!

Who would want to live in something like that and why do we need it here in Oz? That is so ugly.

I too am impressed with the drying rack cabinet. It will probably end up in at least one of my future homes.

I wouldn't want to sleep in a room with a breaker box. That is a poor choice of location for it.
