@mrdestoryit Not really sure where you were going with your response.... I was only referring to the GM 3800 series.... Everyone knows fords 3.8 was trash and everything chrysler makes is unsafe trash nowadays.
The supercharger came stock on the Oldsmobile, which was a very rare option
Base 3800s are 205hp. Supercharged series 2 versions are 260hp stock, series 3 had somewhere between 280. The hp ratings the car companies give out are lower than its true
That's a load of crap. They wouldn't release increased power ratings if that were the case. And unless you pulled the motor out of that car and put on an engine dyno, you don't even know.
That, and insurance ratings aren't based on power. They are based on drive configuration, safety, and acceleration/top speed.
I own a 3800 Regal, and I wish what you said we're true. But it's not.
someone did dyno an LSS with the supercharged 3800 in stock form and we're claiming they were pushing 260hp and 338 lbs of torque.
Dude, insurance costs are based on power. What's costs more to insure a impala or a corvette.
To give you an example... I used to have an 97 chevy lumina 3100 and was paying $650 a year on insurance. Now with this car I'm paying nearly $800. Why? Because of engine size and power
The supecharged 3800 is more expensive to insure than a normal 3800. Why? Because insurance knows that you'll probably be racing with it. So it's kinda common sense.
That engine's also available in Buick's Park Avenue Ultra, Regal GS, Pontiac's Grandprix GTP, Bonneville SSEi, 2004-2005 Chevy Impala SS and the one on my Oldsmobile. We're very big on engine displacement
Not to be rude Corey, but if you followed and kept track of my winter cold start vidoes, my car was being started every week, see videos for proof, and was last started on February 25,2009 and ran for 20 minutes before this video was taken.
So essence, although the car was being sat and not been driven, I took the responsibility of caring for my car by starting it every 3-7 days and made sure the fluids and cleaning off the snow.
So I deserve to keep this car. So sorry to burst your bubble
You should get hazardous duty pay for risking your neck on that ice! I remember the thawing and refreezing from PA very well! Great car, great vid! :) Jack

Fuck you dirtey hoe bitch! (FordMinivans3300) Ford sucks ass big time! My moms 4.0 explorer only lasted 50 thousand miles wile my grandads has over 100,00 miles!
Keep your opinions about which car is better to your damn self, because no one cares. Oh, the ford 3.8 sucks balls compared to GM 3.8. People will back me up. You lose, VWSuck01
Yes Jon, Change your coolant to the "Green Stuff". It is proven that the "Orange Stuff" breaks down the seals in the engine. Which it a costly repair.
the starter on your buick is in the back of the engine gotta go underneath to access it but it mounts like any other starter buicks might be in the front but still gotta go underneath to access it best to use a lift good luck
It is a nice GM as you said. The sad part is GM dropped Oldsmobile and the fact GM is in very bad shape right now. The 3800 is a great engine. Too bad GM did not update it and maintain it as well.

Can I assume this is a fuel-injected engine? If so, I am not surprised it started right up unlike our dearly beloved carb predecessors!

you're going by GM's ratings, they rate them low so the insurance won't cost as much.
