Those factory bikes have a different sort of 'bark' in their exhaust note, sounds great. And this video shows how the pros basically hold the throttle wide open & basically hit the high parts of the track, easier said than done, takes great strength & ability, & I hate to admit this being a Hannah fan from my early teen yrs, which one is Hannah, this had to be close to when he hung it up ....
thanks for posting this........i used to be big into motocross when i was growing up (late 70's / early 80's). The Hurricane was my favorite rider, and was simply the best of all time back then. He's still arguably the best of all-time in my opinion due to the amount of races he won so dominantly before his water-skiing accident. I don't know if anyone was that dominant after him, including Mr. McGrath.
ahhh,,,the lovely sound of real mx... 4 strokes have ruined our sport! i will add this vid to my faves and use it for sound therapy. why not pipe this sound throughout the entire home? brings back memories of my 1st race on an rm 125 in cambridge, mn
@MegaBartSmart Thanks but I can't take any credit for this I was 6-7 at the time. My dad filmed it and this (from what I know) was the only time big names like hannah rode there.
I could watch this all day!!! Great job catching all the different aspects of this challenging track,(Thats some backyard). Thanks to the world wide web and especially thank you ahsure for posting it and for bringing back some of the finest memories of my youth.
I remember reading in MXA (before it became one page of news and 100 pages of ads) a Bob hannah interview, he said he woud fill the tank on his bike up, and go out and ride till it ran out of fuel, then he would push it back to the pits, fill it up and go and do it again, thats dedication, great vid thanks
Beautiful vid, I love that sound, The more the world of motocross goes forward, the more i wish it could go back, quality of bikes were better, the riders were better, . it was a just a better time. give it up 4 strokes ! its over.
@120970able1 I agree 110% Of the 25 or so bikes I have owned 1 was a 4 stroke and I hated it. Over weight and under powered. Now I'm back on a CR500 and It is a 450F destroyer. Good news is I heard a rumor that yamaha is trying to pull another fast one on the AMA(1985 production rule, late 90s allowing 450s in 250 class, ect) and it just may bring back the 2 stroke. We can only wait and see...
buuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaapp bbbuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrraaapppp fuck it my knee dont hurt load em up ..give my the stand wait wait ...ow fuck hold on my knee lol long live motorcross and the balls that drag behind them ha
Back before the 50 foot (away from the track ) safety threshold snow fence cant see shit days of outdoor motocross. Going to the races kinda sucks now a days . I rember standing off the track by about 5 feet (behind a tree ) at the Milville (Spring creek motorcross track) in Minnesota in the 80s . watching all the best of the day.
i cant believe i came across this. this track is right down the road from my house. my friend lived on the same property as the track. late 90's and early 2000 we use to sit in the woods and watch.

Is that Erik Kehoe on the #9 Suzuki? Mickey Dymond on the #6 Yamaha?? Who is #23 on the RM?
muzzmatrix 6 months ago
@muzzmatrix From a forum that saw the video....
26 is Hannah
23 is Tichenor
9 is Kehoe - I don't remember him riding a 250 outdoors in 88, hmmmm.
6 is Dymond - He never did too well on those YZ's.
Ty Davis and Todd DeHoop are riding the RM 125's......boy it took some skill to keep a 125 on the pipe.

Nice, My dad designed that track. Once I get a bike I have to ask boyesen if I can ride there once in a while, spent a lot of my childhood up there.
