  • sorry but this style of knot sucks, the knot looks uneven and ugly as hell, if you want a "real professional" looking, go with the Full Windsor Knot.

  • does the type of fabric the tie is made of affect the knot? I have a polyester tie as well as a silk one.

  • It doesnt look that much different than the windsdow or whatever

  • i thought, that was the "DOUBLE KNOT TIE"..????

  • I learned this and the four in hand, but you go through the original cross over, not through the final one. Does anyone else tie it that way?

  • its not symmetrical, damn

  • Part of why there are so many ways to tie a neck tie is because there are different styles of collars, and different styles and weights of ties. Spread collars call for a wider knot, while a long, narrow collar looks stupid with a bulky knot. Sure, a full Windsor is fine with an average collar, and a light weight silk tie. It would not work with a heavier tie or a narrow collar. A light weight tie that looks great in a double Windsor would look stupid in a four in hand.

  • School boy knot.

  • Look at this guy, hes a fuckin professional tie putteroner

  • Very easy... however, i preffer the windsor knot ;)

  • njnJASFN.,NASDfnKLSDNJAD

  • thats how nerds tie there tie cool people have mssive knots

  • NOW that is SIMPLE perfect when your on the run.... You need a freaking manual or you have to replay the "Windsor Knot" video sevral times. I like this better and I tried it and you can make the knot just as FULL as a Windsor

  • what a girly looking knot. men use the Full Windsor

  • @robthebuilder321 Oh come on... It's not THAT bad...

  • @robthebuilder321 The Full Windsor is for cads... ;-)

  • @robthebuilder321 Men who want their necks and faces to look fat or who are compensating...

  • @robthebuilder321 To be fair the type of man that wore that knot to work would most probably be the type of man that thinks short sleeved shirts are presentable in the same said environment.

  • @robthebuilder321 actually real men know how to tie a variety of knots...choosing the knot which best fits the design and size of the collar, the material of the tie, and the formality of the occasion. Most men who intentionally stick with the full windsor for all occasions regardless of the criteria I just mentioned usually are doing so because they want to feel powerful (if you need your necktie to do that for you you probably aren't as much of a man as you've dreamt up).

  • Should be called "the pleb knot"

  • Polska :)

  • thank you so much for these videos i learned how to tie 4 different knots today!

  • @avvi66 Also known as the "Prince Albert".

  • ugly

  • I've always thought it was harder. I did not know it was this easy!

  • why don't you do it faster?

  • Made my own adjustment to the Windsor knot and it looked great !! Was asked why tie looked different than theirs and I owe it to you sir

  • nothing wrong with that knot either.

  • this is a good looking knot

  • I Find that the four in hand and victoria knots leaves the wearer looking like they can't tie a tie properly, A great looking tie should always have a perfect triangular knot when completed. The full windsor always looks too big so I avoid them and leave that knot to footballers. I always go with the shelby or half windsor. Usually the half windsor.

  • beautiful, i know a few knots, but this is what my 7 year old nephew told me his knot was for school. presumably to use some of the tie's length.

  • This is my favorite one. It's so straight forward.

  • I still like the windsor the most :\

  • this is stupid every knot is tied diffrently but they all look the same

  • i preffer the pratt knot

  • What a shitty knot.

  • You saved my ass! Thanks for the video!

  • Dear avvi66,

at first I would to congratulate for your videos.

So, where is the difference between the 'Victoria' knot and 'Prince albert' knot?

I saw other videos and it's look the same.

    Thank you.

    D.

  • I have a very thin, long neck but I can't really find the right knot for me. Does anybody have any suggestions? The "Victoria" is quite good, but I'd like to know if there was a simular but symmetrical knot?

  • @Creax20 try the shelby may work well with the slimmer build

  • Dear avvi66

According to your experience, what knot do you think is the most elegant?

Which factors influence in the moment to choose a knot?

    thanks in advance

  • I like this one; I've been trying to figure out how to achieve this look. Thanks, very useful!

  • So it's just basically the "school boy knot" with 3 loops.

  • You're not a proper man unless you can tie a tie properly, I shudder when I see other people my age wearing ties with huge, loose, untidy knots and looking extremely short, they say it's fashionable but it's only the yobish guys who do it, no proper style at all.

  • Good video. But if you could put instructions in the description it would be very helpful ^^

  • that's an ugly ass knot.

    nothing like the windsor.

  • is it me or is it wierd that you can tie a tie a million different way, but they come out looking xactly the same??

  • @MooCow354 There's only so much you can do with a thin strip of cloth you know.

  • this knot sux!

hail to the windsor and the oriental knots

  • Is it what is sometimes referred to as the Italian knot ?

  • Found a cool knot called the Eldredge knot. It's pretty slick IMHO. The vid was in the "related" bar. Apparently I use a "four in hand" I never knew it had a name lol Thank you for sharing avvi66 8-)

  • I am not concerned with all different names and symmetrics that go along with a tie- I just think this one looks neat (not like primm and proper neat but like neat-o), it has a different twist to it. Now I can tie my sons tie for graduation. Thanks!

  • hi there:

Thanks a lot for your videos, you are amazing and make it so simple, but, i need your help, my girlfriend is goinna make an exam and she wants to wear a vest and a tie, which kind of knots do you recomend me?, thanks a lot

  • @porfirionoches Ain't that just too TOO narrow minded for a psychoanalyst? I mean, the so called sexual perversion is due to the moral perspective, and even the term is determined by the culture. How would you explain a ""sexual perversion"" in a population where tie hasn't been worn in centuries?

  • every single one of these look the same as the last.

  • thats basically a four-in-hand done twice over.

  • try square knot lol...

  • Used this knot all through highschool since it's more of a preppy thing

  • "" The use of the tie is the origin of sexual perversion "

Erections unwanted commonly due to stimulation of the neck.

The fact of buttoning the last button of his shirt is a source of sexual pleasure because the neck, an erogenous zone, is stimulated by friction and pressure of the collar on the neck of the person.

IN CONCLUSION: the tie is a symbol of submission, which results in sexual tension.

    I physiologist and psychoanalyst.

  • @porfirionoches Assuming you didn't just crib that from some other hack, if you're really a psychoanalyst I sure hope you have a more secure job to fall back on.

  • I'm looking for a knot to replace the four-in-hand for variety. Maybe this is too similar...

Thanks a ton for these videos. You have the best demonstrations out there. I've learned a lot by watching you.

  • Oh what a terrible know. Maybe I'm just to anal but when I see a know that is not "perfect" I think, "why even bother".

  • haha me too i often criticize my teachers ties

  • Awesome,neat& simple :)

  • It's also called the Double Knot.

  • i always use this knot thanks

  • ummm weres his head?

  • Thank U!!

  • it is AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he owned you guitar911.

  • buen video gracias

  • 1. this is the four in hand knot

    2. this guy has got to be flambouyantly homosexual :P

  • #1. Its almost a "Four-in-hand", apart from the addition of another pass of the wide blade across the knot before end.

    About #2...So funny...

  • oh i see. and what? so what if he's gay? i may not agree with it but most gay people are nicer than straight people :P

  • Look at my name, I am the guy in the video. Yes, I have a lot of great gay friends, but no. I'm not gay. I am actually on a 30 day honeymoon with my wife in Egypt right now - checking up on my e-mails. Thats why I thought the comment was funny.

  • Ah, I see. Sorry. You are just very good with your hands.

  • Thanks :-)

  • How do you memorize so many knots?

  • I dont remember them all. I have to look at my drawings right before I film them. But if you tie them often enough your hands remember after a short glance at the instructions.

  • I see, and congrats on your honeymoon

  • on a honey moon and on the net? i find that hard to believe lol

  • this is actually called a 'near-four-in-hand', It was created at RMC Duntroon in 1912 when a staff cadet was showing a fellow cadet how to tie his tie and a Major was watching him try. The cadet did it incorrectly and the Major walked past and said 'thats a near four in hand' and hence the name stuck and has been used ever since...just for your info anyway

  • This is wat i was looking for last half an hour

  • nice knot !!!! I love it so much

  • I thought it was called the prince albert knot

  • weon malo

  • woahh, so pro. o.o

  • Guys this is 4 in hand, just with an extra turn.

    but looking cool.

  • look at the description dipshit

  • Actually, I've heard this knot being called the Skinny Knot.

  • this seems like the four in hand with a extra turn .this is better for skinny ties

  • Never mind, I just noticed what the description said.

  • i hate unsymmetrical ties

    blahhhh

  • Love the tie you're wearing yourself in this vid Nils

  • First try. :]

  • this is how you do a casual tie.. i do my school tie really different... XD

  • thanks!

  • Thanks.

  • Background music would make it much cooler.

  • dis set of videos has 11 ways to tie a tie !!!

  • Merci, enfin je sais faire un noeud!

  • Thank you so much! it's a super helpful video

  • It was a little fast, but I got it. Thanks for the help.

  • i love this. i got it on my first try.

  • Well good for you.

And in retrospect I see that its done sloppy. I did numerous takes with twelve different knots that day, I guess this was one of the last ones. The point is though to learn the moves and to know the knot. I'm sure there are plenty of bright people out there who can do it better.

  • totally agree...

i found i rlly only like the prat knot, since

its just about the only one that doesnt seem the bend one way er the other. it doez make it look sloppy.

the dimple makes it look fresh haha

    or 'elegant' XDXD

  • I tried this with a monochrome geometric pattern tie and it looks great! Worth experimenting with although it definitely won't work with every pattern and I don't think I'd wear it to work.

  • sloppy knot

  • Great video. Amazing.

  • grrreeaaat :D shmankoo

  • this one is for punks!! rise up anti-windsors ^^ lol

  • I love this long knot. Unlike most of the knuckleheads on here that want everything perfect, I want a slightly asymmetrical knot so I don't look like everyone else. I'm a Magnificent Bastard!

  • @localhero101 thumbs up to the asymmetrical, Magnificent Bastard!

This knot has one more "over" than the knot I tie. I do "over, over, up, down, and through. Works great with a thin 50's or 80's skinny tie. A Windsor is to fat and formal to suit me.

  • @WambliPeta Thank you fellow Bastard! ;-)

  • @localhero101 I agree with the magnificent basterd! I dont want to look like a clone, and copy everyone else.

  • Wow, that looks untidy. I wouldn't use this knot but it's interesting to watch different knots being formed. Nice video. :D

  • Yaaaaaaaaaaay I made it! :P

Okey normally when I bough a new one I let someone at the mall do this for me :P

(uuhm yeah I`m a 16 year old girl)

But now I just had to wear this one :P

so I had to do it by myself :P

Its not that great as the other once but I dont care :P

I can wear him now XD

  • Hideous looking knot. You'd have to be blind to wear this style

  • :-D *lol*

Yeah I know what you mean. I used the same tie on all the knot-video's I posted. In real life you can't of course because some ties just don't go well with some knots. The Victoria can be quite nice (for an asymmetrical) with the right tie. This one, I agree, is not the best choice for this tie.

  • A very ugly tie in my oppinion.

If this is the Victoia knot, then what would you call the Victorian knot from Investico?

  • Investico is doing a perfect Half-Windsor knot. I have no idea why he calls it the Victoria. The Victoria is an asymmetrical knot, like the Four-in-hand -but bigger. Symmetrical and asymmetrical knots, are subject of course to the general opinion in life that things that are symmetrical are prettier than things that are asymmetrical. I guess some people just like that their tie knot slants over to on side instead of pointing strait down.

  • You're right. Thanks for info.

  • I just tried this tie with a very thick and broad tie and it went out perfectly, although I still don't like the fact that it is not symmetrical.

  • Very Nice Thank U For Your Team

  • MAESTRO, MIL GRACIAS MAESTRO...!

  • your videos are very useful

    thanks

  • AMAZING!
