Is this movie reality conform? If yes, I have to say, Bach was an arogant dumbass to reject such a beautiful girl, Buxtehudes little daughter. Perhaps there exist any contemporary painting of her to make a serious judgement.
Arnstadt was really crappy towards Bach. There has been much speculation about WHY Bach and Handel and others did not marry Buxtehude's daughter.... from downright ugly to way too old for child-bearing. DOES ANYONE KNOW MORE INFO ON THIS? Sadly... it really sucked to be a woman in this time period, having to be married off.

Bach leaves Amstadt with its pastor begging him to return, apologizing for the bad behavior of the church members. He then walks 400 miles to the town of Lubeck where the great master Dieterich Buxtehude welcomes him. Bach stays there several months learning all he can from Buxtehude and wanted to succeed the retiring master. However it carried the condition of marriage to Buxtehude's youngest daughter who falls in love with Bach. However Bach unimpressed tells her his passion is music n quits.
