Wuts better zombie hawgs, monster hawgs or some sector 9 wheel i want a wheel that i can cruise around town and be able to roll over. Rocks and other stuff so any advice would be good thx
@qUiCkScOpExGoDz dont look at it as different amounts of slide. different colours represent different hardnesses. harder wheels tend to slide easier than softer ones because the softer ones are more gummy and can deform more in hard turns. now there is theres a smooth surface on the wheel called mold release which is very sticky so first day of sliding might be a bit harder. wear that away and its super easy to slide. i'd say you might just not have the right technique
@qUiCkScOpExGoDz you JUST got them it means because you need to break them in and maybe you need to learn to slide. you sliding on flat or a hill coz you can only really slide on a hill
its so hard to review wheels for sliding because it's all personal preference, for instance you may love mayonnaise and think that i should eat it and nothing else but i hate mayonnaise it reminds me of semen.
I'm sorta new to longboarding and i want new wheels. i want to slide, preferrably about 70mm wheels, but i also want to have a decent free riding wheel, is there an in between wheel that will do both?
Yo Im about to purchase a sick sliding set up, was thinking the dervish on 180 paris', and 86 a stim otangs. Gimmie a shout if you have any suggestions!
@quarter1677 this is about a month late but... don't buy the dervish for sliding.. big mistake, you should check out landyachtz boards... they just came out with the switchblade which is a nasty sliding board.. or the landyachtz switch which is in my opinion the best sliding board out ( i own one).. dervish is terrible for sliding.. not wide, to much flex and over priced... also check out some rayne boards like the demonseed. the drop deck helps so so so so so much when sliding. trust me.
@WPLB4life dervish is good for other things my freind has one its good for everything except big downhill i like it for freerid2ing and i own a tantein and nemisis both ofr those boardsn r good nd i like the derfvish alot
@joepz0r if you do a lot of cruising around town I recommend about 80a-82a because it grips easily on gravel like surfaces. I put 80a wheels on my Arbor pocket rocket and just cruise around town :) hope my comment helped :)
@joepz0r Depends more on the wheel itself than the duro. My 78a Kryptonics (the new clear/clear red ones) were rough and slow (I had to push a lot). My 80a BigZigs were much smoother, rolled much faster and longer, and were a lot grippier.
78a Sector 9 Raceforms or 80a ZigZags are awesome for cruising imo.
Can you still have traction with 80a Bigzigs (for DH) when the square lips start to be round (due to the over-use)? I would keep thoses wheels square and not sliding them...
@mrPACarrier it really depends on what you have ridden before. If you like O tang uerothane, then stick with the inheats. Vise versa with the Big Zigs. Another thing to consider i whell bite. If you have a topmount, i would recomend 4 pres or big zigs.
So I'm riding the sector nine racing formula now, which are amazing wheels, but they have zero drift so I can't pre drift any corners. So i was just curious what duro of big zig to get that would grip well at high speeds but also provide a little drift for harder turns. I was thinking of getting the limes.
okay, I am stumped right now. I am buying a Joel Tudor signature sector 9 miniature longboard soon and I don't know what wheels to buy. I don't have actual longboard trucks. As of right now, I am simply riding 149mm Independent trucks. I need a wheel that won't bite, but will still be able to do all the things I want to do. Currently, I am riding on some standard bones skateboard wheels that are 53mm. The largest I can go is probably around 62mm.
I am getting the derringer 28 and I cant decide what wheels to get. Apparently the stock wheels that are Kryptonics 76mm 78a. And from that I was thinking about the Retro ZigZags 70mm 83a instead but I don't if its worth the money
hey i just bought a longboard and this might sound dumb but is there a certain wheel size for every board or do they all work for any board? can someone help
it depends alot on the design of ur board and what style of riding you wanna do. i use bigzigs cuz my board is designed kinda like the dervish. so i can use big wheels and not worry about wheel bite. what kind of board did you get?
You need to make sure that your wheels are not going to bite the board. Risers can dictate the height of the wheel that can be applied but a 66m or 70m, you should be safe. Please call us so we can discuss
you'll want 83a +/- 2 (duro) for carve and slide, i use orangatan purple in-heats and stimulus's which work great. For sliding you'd want the same or an even higher (harder) duro with a curved lip for a smoother slide (:
Hey I might get som fly wheels, but can you please tell me, if i buy flywheels do i need to put my own bearings in them and will they fit my skateboard trucks cos i want to use them on my skateboard becoz they r really fast! lol please email be back
LOL. You shouldn't waste your money on these wheels mainly because your not even going to use them right. If you want speed on your skateboard then just get some good bearings...
The outside of the wheels is made of urethane, what is the hard part in the middle made of? The part that holds the bearings in place? And is it just glued on?
The hard part has got holes in it so then the urethane can 'wrap around' it to hold the hard part in place. And it's made of some sort of plastic - probably a lightweight one. It's basically there to keep the wheel stable and the bearings in place.
Why are the Wheels these day so boring? I remember mixed colors back in the day. Swirls and Transparent. Flush & Side set wheels along with most of these 'unique' lips, are not new, they are brought back from the Old School boards.

that is a pretty hard wheel so it will be great for sliding, but it might be too tall for your liking, or possibly not a shape you would want to be riding for freeride.
Yeah. For example, a deck with a lot of concave can really lock your feet in while sliding and a symmetrical board will make free riding more comfortable.
well youre wrong....ive ridden s9 rf, slolam, slide formula, 3 different nineballs, bamboo series, and top shelfs, ive also ridden orangatang in heats and durians and ive ridden kryptonics classics and a few others.....but youre right, i dont really ride dh that much ....i usually just do stuff on my dancer but ive been starting to like the hills on my friends dervish a lot so thats why i was looking for a dh board wheel
i ride a bombhill with some 150 fasttrack trackster trucks, some 75mm lime bigzig wheels and ABEC 7 landyachtz bearings and the wheels ride very smooth i love them i think those are for people who like cruisin around some hills and NOT falling lol but those wheels ride really smoothly i recommend them ohh and sorry for such a long comment 5/5
k ive got a landy switch and i mostly bomb down hills in the british properties in vancouve bc and im wonder wats a better wheel for downhill&sliding otangs or bigzigs
hi mate, i got otangs and they are really really good. so soft for bombing and grip but you can still slide them out i would go for them over bigzigs! dunno if thats any help..
the hustler will not bite with wheels 70mm and under,
the skateboard with longboard wheels will handle like a skateboard, with grippier longer rolling wheels, they will be more condusive to getting over all of the cracks bumps and rocks that are in the road and sidewalks.

hi mate, i got otangs and they are really really good. so soft for bombing and grip but you can still slide them out i would go for them over bigzigs! dunno if thats any help..

personally i like otangs better for sliding, but big zigz are better for all around riding, we would recommend the big zigz for all around riding.

i have a Kebbek Revenger and i run 75mm lemons in front and 75mm limes in back. That setup is pretty fun for races.

the hustler will not bite with wheels 70mm and under,
the skateboard with longboard wheels will handle like a skateboard, with grippier longer rolling wheels, they will be more condusive to getting over all of the cracks bumps and rocks that are in the road and sidewalks.
