@enigma2488 He was all about taking out Ryu because he got pwned back in Street Fighter 1 (the game no one played). Ryu lost to Sagat but then succumbed to the Satsui no Hadou and Metsu Shoryuken'd Sagat's ass, literally scarring his chest the way we all remember it.

When Sagat found out it was the Satsui no Hadou that took him out, he learned to tame his rivalry against Ryu and fight fairly.

@enigma2488 If you paid attention to the story scenes over the years, you'll see that Sagat is no longer evil. His 'evilness' was retconned out of existence and only a strong desire to get revenge just after the first Street Fighter tournament which started going away during Alpha 2 and was gone by Alpha 3. This characterisation of Sagat has done him good. Before Street Fighter II V (which first introduced us to the concept of a noble Sagat) he was quite a two-dimensional bad guy in the series

Because he never was really, he started the first Street Fighter tournament to prove to the world that he was the strongest fighter. In Street Fighter II he was really just consumed by rage and craving for revenge because Ryu gave him that enormous scar on his chest.

He gets over it though and he is in the end just a friendly rival with Ryu.

Yea, same here. I remember when I first played I couldn't even figure out how to do a Hadoken, now I'm FADC'ing into Ultras lol. The new Ken theme is a little too techno-ish for me now though...doesn't feel the same, or sound the same for that matter. The other themes, you can recognize them, but I couldn't tell Ken's new theme was Ken's theme until I saw a vid of it while I was browsing around on Youtube.

Agreed. Though I think it sort of suits him though, as he's mellowed out - left the Shadowlaw and went out to find his own power etc. It kinda reflects that Sagat is still his own dude, finding his path like Ryu is.
