Watch his fingers, they don't match up with the sound of the guitar. I think the bit at 3:10 is just due to the shitty quality of the video, but to each his own.

The major tip off that these vocals were pre-recorded is at 3:10. That's not a digital or analogue echo, when his mouth leaves the microphone.
No, that's a background track they are playing to "live."
Just like they did in the 60s, except this is a recording of a live take he liked.
Beck is the composite of the dedicated attempt to pop stardom, thinking of everything, mainly image.

@lloydwilliamsuk The tabs are actually listed on John Martyn's site. Fairly simple song, save for the tuning is CGCGCE. I love this version of it. At first I was a little turned off by the keyboards, but it comes together quite well in the end. And the keyboardist also playing the vibes with a free hand? Fantastic!
It has such a dusky, nostalgic sound to it the way it's arranged here. A great example of a well-orchestrated "less is more" construction for a song.
